Alpha Skin Care used to be named/branded "Alpha Hydroxy" back when it launched in the early 1990's and was considered a revolution in the skin care industry due to its use of acids. It was then, and still is now, one of the best brands I've ever used. Effective and affordable stands the test of time and my skin is better off for because of it.
@@Sara-gm4qz yes agreed! But i mean, i like it when she shows a picture while reviewing (it give me an idea of the product, if I've seen it at the store) We all live in different countries and we don't always have the same products. For example, when she shows a picture(or product) of ceraVe tub I'm like "yeah yeah i saw that one in the store" so I am going to pay more attention to it since it's a product available to me. But when she shows other products which I've never seen before, I'm gonna skip to the next...and also...yes i admit being lazy to pause the video to click\open a new page to see the product she's talking about lol
I wish I found your channel before I gave myself a 50% glycolic acid gel peel, I got a horrible chemical burn on my entire face, then got a horrible infection, ended with sepsis, I was in the hospital for 5 days because of a face peel I did myself.....love your channel I have learned a lot.
@@susannovak8263 An online laboratory, me & a friend decided to give ourselves at home chemical peels, she did not have nearly as bad a reaction as me, she removed hers rather quickly because of the pain. I still have the scars on my face, although they have faded a lot, dumbest thing I ever did in my life...
Off topic, but my slightly rosacea-prone skin had been getting worse this past month of WFH. I went back to Dr. Dray's rosacea videos, started using the Abolene and Cerave Hydrating cleanser, Bioderma AR creme, Neutrogena Hydraboost Extra-Dry, then Cetaphil and Vanicream sunscreen and Vanicream lip sunscreen. Suffice to say, her advice and product recommendations have made an huge improvement! Thanks, Dr. Dray.
i used to have rosacea too and i used the whole set for hypersensitive skin from Avene and it worked sooo well. my skin was smoother, normal than ever before. The only problem is their sunscreen was designed for European so it's quite thick, not really suitable for asians who live in tropical countries, and it's not really affordable, but worth it ^^
I had severe roscea. But I follow more Holistic medicine. But I went to a derm and was prescribed. Azaleic acid and soolantra. Expensive and didn't work.. but i started using ozone oil from Holistic dentist and omg within days my ros. Went away and almost 2 years later hasn't come back and I suffered for years..
Dr. Dray, watching your videos makes this pandemic and life in general bearable. Thank you so much for being such an amazing role model and providing us with evidence based information. Your videos have pulled me out of a very deep depression. I lost a friend during the pandemic and used smoking as a way to cope for a while, and watching your videos has motivated me to quit smoking, put on sunscreen multiple times a day, eat healthy and exercise daily. Before I just ate tons of sugar and didn't exercise and lived a very unhealthy lifestyle. You are a ray of sunshine and please never stop making videos.
Renewal Body Lotion with 12% AHA is wonderful!!! $16.99 for 12 oz is a great price point. I use it on my face and body. Ordered straight from Neoteric Cosmetics, they offer free shipping.
@@TheSnowReport28 thank you ... one more thing I use pixi glycolic acid twice a week like on Sunday and Thursday do you think on Friday if I use paulas choice it will be too much
@@TheSnowReport28 I have dry sensitive skin with texture like blackheads and pores ..I bought the trial pack but I don’t know how to include it in routine with glycolic or should I leave glycolic acid for a 1-2 months
I use my thick, heavy creams for neck and chest and avoid acids in this area. my Derm doc said that Tretinoin WILL work on chest, but it will take longer to see results (than on the face).
Happy Friday! I’ve been using the Alpha Skin Care Renewal Body Lotion, 12% Glycolic AHA on my “mature” skin. It’s fabulous. My skin is truly hydrated and smooth. I purchased on Amazon.
hello! do you use it in your face right? I have read that it was meant to be used in body only, at least CeraVe claimed it so I'm confused if it is safe for a face use
I just started using the Paula's Choice and it is absolutely amazing. It does give an itchy feeling but only after moisturization. Next time I will need to flip the steps as Dr. Dray recommended.
I am in my sixties and have been using the face wash and aha lotion for over 30 years. I have tried a lot of other face washes but I always go right back. I am always surprised that the brand isn't more popular. It seems like people either swear by it or never heard of it/tried it.
@@doreenzimmerman7410 Same for me too. Best facewash I've ever used...and i had to try a lot when my local drugstore stopped selling alpha (alpha hydrox at that time). I can't tell you how thankful I was to find alpha again online.
I watched your KP video a year ago and I’ve seen so much improvement on my arms ! It’s so much better now 🥰 I’ve been using a BHA cleanser and alpha care lotion every day. Thanks Dr. Dray ✨
I'm glad you mentioned sensitivity to some of these acids because I never thought I had sensitive skin until I used the Alpha 12% cream on my face and it STUNG like the dickens! I couldn't get it off fast enough! Oddly enough, it doesn't bother my neck (just using it once or twice a week there) so that's how I'm using it up but I won't be repurchasing! Instead, I've been using the Ordinary's 7% AHA toner every other night alternating with my tretinoin, as you're suggesting. Great, helpful video. xoxo
Could you do one on girls vs. teenage boy skin? I am a single mom with a teenage boy with acne and I am feeling confused while making sure I am being sensitive to his feelings. Thank you!
Wow, perfect timing! I put Paula's Choice BHA and Alpha Skin Care lotion in my cart last night but have been debating whether to purchase. Now I can make an informed decision. Thank you!
THE ONLY product I’ve found that works for KP is Amlactin alpha-hydroxy therapy lotion. Highly recommend, but remember to protect your skin from the sun especially while using AHA products!
Neoteric Cosmetics makes the Alpha Skin Care products line. I also love their retinol cream that I use under moisturizer at night. Great products which are priced very affordable. They have been around for many years, so I trust them.
I am so excited to try a PHA for my sensitive skin! Thanks Dr. Dray! Please continue with all the content! I've learned so much during this quarantine!
PHA’s are amazing, I have rosacea and eczema and I thought I could never use any exfoliating products and I most lotion just felt like it never really got into my skin then I started using the inky list pha toner and it’s changed my skin so much! I have smoother less dry skin now and I don’t have to use as much of my other products now! PHAs are amazing!
AREESHA MOOSA BARRY I use the inky list gentle exfoliating toner ( started out with every other day once a day and have moved up to every day, although I know people even less sensitive, sensitive skin can work to twice daily)
Have a great day everyone and always remember your beautiful inside and out, don’t let others tell you any different. We will get through this, just hang on a little bit more and have faith. Sending love and prayers to everyone here. ❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️
I used to use Alpha Skincare, I’m glad it’s back at Ulta. I also like the Paula’s Choice 8% AHA. The PC 2% BHA worked well for me when I was younger with very oily skin. Thanks for the reviews!
Neoteric Cosmetics are great! I've been using them for years and the times I've stopped, I've regretted it. Their 14% AHA is fabulous! They no longer make sunblock, but I hope they still soon again
I wish you would have discussed that the AHAs can cause purging - causing more breakouts initially. A lot of RU-vidrs talk about AHAs without explaining that they can initially worsen acne. I was distraught when I got severe acne after I started using BHA and Lactic acid. Only after much research, did I realize that it was purging. It is important for viewers to understand this side effect or else they will stop using the products. Otherwise, your videos are excellent and I appreciate what you are doing.
Super helpful!! I love having your videos during this isolation. God bless you and l hope your mommy is healed totally in the matchless name of Jesus Christ the Lord ✝️🙏🕊❤
I started using the glycolic toner from The Ordinary about 2 months ago. It’s wonderful and works great on my sensitive skin. I use it for three consecutive days a week and use either Differin or just a regular moisturizer the rest of the week. You really can see the difference in your skin the morning after using the toner.
Thank you for this! I have dry sensitive skin and haven’t heard of PHAD before I’ve used others but find them quite irritating. I will look into this x
As someone with KP I'm actually kind of thankful lol it's made my skin so strong, even retinol hardly caused any irritation at first. I'm glad I can slap pretty much anything on it 😅
Thanks for this, so needed. I order 2 SPF hoodies that you recommended on a previous video, love them -they are great for walks - thank you for that rec too! Hope all is well :)
I use AHA's occasionally on my normal/dry, mature skin. I also like BHA's but use them on my arms and back to help with exfoliation of sun spots (arms), and dry, slightly bumpy skin (back). I use CeraVe's SA cream which works well and is very gentle. Happy Friday Dr. Dray. Stay safe, stay well. :-)
Great information! Thank you. I’m 50 and struggling with texture bumps. It’s so frustrating. I have pretty dry skin and it can be a little sensitive at times. I appreciate the advice!
Thank you Dr. Dray 🙏😊 I recently started using Differin based on your videos. Prior to that I was using the Paula's Choice 2% bha and Yes, brands do tell you to exfoliate everyday even twice a day if you have acne. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us 💛🤗
Thank you so much Dr. Dray! You are a life saver and goddess. I am too ignorant to have put BHA on my neck and constantly been having red rashes and acne-like red bumps that itch like a torture. Before I found your video, I have no idea what is going on, because on the bottle of the BHA toner says apply to face and neck twice a day. So even when the symptoms on my neck continuous, I've never thought it's an irritation and I need to stop putting it on my neck. Instead, I used even more BHA on my neck hoping to cure that rash and bumps. Thank god, you have come into my life and saved me!
That's really helpful right now 🙂 I just ordered my first AHA and BHA serum 😂 fingers crossed that it'll work for me... Thank you Dr Dray! I love your videos ❤
I love love love your channel! Hi all the way from Honduras! I'm 30 years old, have normal to oily, sensitive skin. I'm thinking of incorporating Paula's Choice BHA at night the nights I don't use prescription vitamin A, especially on my nose and cheeks where I have very visible pores and they tend to accumulate dirt and dead skin (those black dots on the nose that can only be cleansed with a facial ) My intended regimen would be: Cerave Moisturizing Cleanser twice, Hyaluronic Acid on damp skin, Cerave PM Facial Moisturizing lotion, and then BHA. Is this ok? Thanks again for all this information, I binge on all of your videos and I trust you even more than my own derm sometimes. Love!
I had the same question. But in other videos, Dr. Dray recommends cleansers with 2% salicylic acid. CeraVe's SA Cleanser does not show the percentage in the label.
I ordered the biossance zinc sheer mineral sunscreen before watching your video on sunscreens for different skin tones. THIS IS THE BEST MINERAL SUNSCREEN IVE TRIED. It is the only all mineral sunscreen that doesn’t leave a cast on my skin. It is non-greasy and feels just like a moisturizer. It’s fragrance and tint free. I love it!!! I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
Thank you so much for all your extremely informative videos, I’ve learned soooo much and have seen huge improvements in my skin! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!
Thanks so much, Dr Dray! This has really helped me understand all these acids and their uses. You're awesome!! Hope your mom is doing well. Hugs for her and little Tybee! Have a beautiful evening. 💕
I like Alpha but also LacHydrin and AmLactin. You can get this in generic version from your GP or Derm and it’s quite cheap. My mother has been using this for years and her skin is absolutely amazing.
I have trouble with many products burning, because of rosacea on my cheeks, but my t-zone has acne and I'd like to work on it. I'll try conservatively using the PHA toner! Thanks!
I have both rosacea and eczema so I have a second product recommendation for you = DHC soothing lotion contains lactic acid high enough on the ingredient list to provide gentle exfoliation. The other ingredients are soothing/hydrating and it is fragrance free. This works for me with no irritation at all and is in fact comfortable to use. Hope that helps.
Alpha hydrox products changed their name. I use to use their products almost 9-10 years ago and they were called Alpha and sold specifically from Amazon. They never did anything for me. Might work if you mix it with another product that helps with exfoliation or it's good for people with very sensitive skin.
Hi dr. Dray, 1st do you recommend using an acid when dealing with ingrowing hair after shaving (e.g. the legs) and second: what is your opinion to mens skincare routine -> when to integrate shaving the beard?. Thanks in advance from an dermatologist from Germany ;)
just found your channel and i’m about binge watch the crap out of these videos!! lol. i had a question: how many times do you recommend using the BHA paulas choice exfoliant a week?
Aha - can be overused - over exfoliated Keratosis pilares ( mono dots) Glycolic acid Helps photo damage Helps over time with hydration Water soluble Bha - oily skin with texture and acne Oil soluable Helps enlarged pores and blackheads
Hallo and thank you so much for your time and support regarding skincare. I live in Europe and unfortunately I do not find all the products that you are mentioning in your videos ( almost none, to be honest) 😞 Otherwise, I am really happy about all the information that you provide and I am addicted to your advice and tips! XOXO from Europe 😁
Thank you Dr Dray. I have been watching your video for about two years now and learned a lot from you. i have been using Vitamin A for a year now plus my other am/pm skincare products and my skin has improved! I am introducing Niacinamide, azelaic acid soon for my PIH and probably PHA. My question is, I use Hyaluronic acid, can I still use the Inkey List PHA Toner? If yes, which one goes first? I hope you read this comment 🤞 Merry Christmas 🎄
Loved this video as I love all of your videos! Thank you so very much for all you do. Even through this difficult time, I can count on a lovely video from you. PS: please say hello to your mom, she is in my prayers.💖🙏
I love the Neostrata Bionic Lotion and is cheaper than the Bionic Face. And, the Bionic Lotion comes in a large tube and says to use it on Body and FACE. My face so much smoother now. I am getting ready to try easing into their Lotion Plus and see how that works.
Thank Dr. Dray as always, very good content. If you could please clarify how to use the AHA cream: It should be applied on damp skin, after washing my face...? Thanks again for your response.
I have oily skin. My facial skin is clean and no bumps under skin etc however, I have small bumps under eyes on both sides which are not whiteheads or black heads. They are skin coloured and under skin. How can I remove these. These cannot be squeezed etc. I do not believe these are Milia as milia are described white bumps but mine are skin coloured and can be felt and seen.
Thank you for this, Dr. Andrea! I have KP on my cheeks and milia on my nose. Can I use a BHA cleanser then an AHA cream? Also, if my skin feels tight after letting the AHA cream dry, can I put on a moisturizer?
