Here’s what I have found so far. Lane Keeping - A little unnerving at first, but eventually it’s OK. Lane Centering Assist - Same as above. Goes on when you have the cruise control on. If you are using this at relatively low speeds, such as in the city, it seems to want to correct back and forth a LOT, and also frequently it loses sight of the lane markings and will turn itself off (it turns itself back on after a short while.) Also, when you try to change lanes, it tries to keep you in the center UNLESS you turn on your turn signal first. Adaptive Cruise Control on the Highway - I like it, but you have to get accustomed to the fact that is slows down so gradually as you are coming up on someone from behind that you may not notice right away that you are now going 10 mph slower than your cruise speed setting. You CAN adjust how far behind your car will linger behind the car in front of you. Tim covered it in the video. Also, it automatically accelerates as soon as you put the turn signal on as if to pass the car you are stuck behind. Adaptive Cruise Control in the City (Stop & Go) - This takes some getting accustomed to as well, if you want to use it in stop and go driving. It works! But I still don’t trust it enough to let it do its thing without having my foot over the brake pedal. I feel like the system doesn’t do as good of a job as I do anticipating that the cars ahead are all stopped and it should start coasting before going to the brakes. It seems to brake a lot harder at the last second than I do. Also, when the cars ahead start moving, it seems to take more time to recognize it and get going. It works, but it doesn't drive the way I drive, and that makes me uncomfortable. PLUS when you are at a stop light behind another car, you sometimes have to press the “RES” button for the system to know to move when the car in front of you moves. Tim covered this in the video. Oh, remember at stop signs you have to physically use the brake to stop after the car in front of you proceeds through the intersection!

One more add, if you are using the adaptive stop & go in the city, and you are behind someone who slows down to turn at an intersection, for example, it tends to brake hard, then take a long time to realize that car is no longer in front of you before accelerating.

Thanks. Very useful info. Didn’t know how it all worked before.

Fantastic Adaptive System! My Current Mustang has Adaptive Cruise and The Escape Active on order will have Tech Pack 1. So that will add some newer features than My EcoStang. I will have a Question to ask for Sure on Tuesdays Episode!

I changed my order from XLT W/Lux to Lariat mostly for these. Absolutely love the features and use them on every drive.

My 22 Lariat Hybrid is just short of 2 years old and I have totally missed the lane assist button on the turn signal all this time! Yikes! Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was capable of lane assistance without cruise, but never figured it out.

I really like this feature and use it a lot. However, I have found that if there were cracks in the roadway that have been filled with tar the cruise control gets confused and tries to correct to the crack line. This mostly happens after a rain followed by some sunshine. Also sometimes if a car in front of you changes lanes and stops the truck goes to emergency stop mode. I usually will turn to avoid it.

I like that hood scoop on your tremor, Tim. I love my adaptive cruise control and all the features my lariat has! What happens if you don’t put your hands back on the wheel out of curiosity? Also, idea for a future maverick Monday, maybe highlight the flexbed?

Could you do this same presentation on a 2024 Ranger XLT as well as enhance park assistance.

Is there a minimum speed for adaptive cruise control?

When the adaptive cruise control is slowing you down, do the brake lights illuminate?

I like the feature when you turn on cruise, at the same time the speed is set. Don't like to press 2 different buttons, it's not as safe because it's distracting. I've heard, if you place a small weight, like a bottle of water on the wheel, it fools the nanny into thinking your hand is on the wheel. Just don't do it on the same road as me!!! Ha

I don't think that works. It's not whether there is pressure on the steering wheel but if you are moving it. I've had my hands on the steering wheel and it still warn me because I was steering it perfectly in the lane.

What the system is sensing is your movements of the wheel or your resistance to the system moving the wheel. What I figured out is I can use a small bungee attached to the bottom of the steering wheel and just hold it with one of my hands on my lap just holding a little tension on the bungee to one side. I have been able to go most of my 28 mile commute this way only having to grab the wheel for 90 degree turns or the occasional time when the lane tracking camera loses the road. The other times I have to grab the wheel is with multiple turns as the system does not react quick enough to put turns together. Overall it is pretty amazing and had made my commute much more enjoyable.

You really need to put in big letters for this video - 'READ THE MANUAL, there are several limitations to ACC and lane centering plus situations where they do not work. The manual says keeping hands on the steering wheel at all times is required (page 225)'.

If you can't keep your vehicle in your own lane without a lane keeping assist then you should be riding the bus!😮😮😮

It's not that they can't it's the convenience of having it.

One feature I like is the vehicles ability to read speed limit signs. Maybe you could show this feature in another video. How does it do that? How does it know?
