Thank you for sharing! I love seeing your batik and tie-dye materials! I have not done this in many years, and really don't plan to now, but I did learn about this way back when I was in an art class in Jr. High School. I had a lot of fun with it then and I enjoy seeing yours now!

What should I do if i'd like to dye a shirt that has a screen printed design on it? I have a Heather/Navy Superman shirt with a white screen printed S on it. I'd like to dye the shirt black, but keep the S white. I'm worried that I'll dye the S black as well. The only thing accessible to me is Tulip Fabric Dye; it comes in a package, designed to be used only once. This is all my local craft shop has. My problem is that the directions say to use steaming hot water - but if I try to put a resist or glue over the S, it will melt off in the hot water. Will the plasticy Screen printed S be okay without the resist? or should I try to do this in cold water?

Hi Johnny. You're right...the resist or glue will come right off and dye the whole thing black. Maybe try and put the resist on, and put a rubber band around the section with the S to secure it. Then dip the shirt in the dye, making sure it doesn't touch that part. The "S" will still be on the heather grey background, but for the most part the rest will be black. Let me know how it works out.

Hi Nastassia! Thanks for your question :) I use the pre-made batik wax, but you can blend your own using a combination of beeswax and paraffin wax. Hope this helps!
