As a rhythm game veteran, I want to give one big note to anyone wanting to play the class. You will screw up your main attack timing A LOT! There will be a ton of factors that will screw you up, but the biggest one will be frustration. If you are getting frustrated at the game, either calm yourself down, or pick another class. If you don’t do this, you will only screw up more.
along w/ this, if you're on the map w/ the plane and your phinisher is ready, stay at the top of the map and launch your ult. It makes the enemies unaware that you're there until its too late :3
Being a Spanish speaker, I had to learn how to use the boombox through play and observation, as I couldn't understand the information about its abilities. From what I have seen in this video I have come to apply it and I feel that it is a very good guide ❤❤
I’m proud then, I am mediocre at boombox but I have decimated katanas sometimes- it’s hard with the rhythm game in my opinion but! I have gotten burned into my mind, 1 and 2 and hit! Thanks for the tips as he’s a very silly character:3
8:23 This might not be a good beginner tip tho, as much as 4 charge m2 good, its perfectly alright to use it on 3, 2, 1 or even on no charges if the situation requires. Extra shield given is often a life saver and the main beaty of boombox is that if he played well around his tank-like moveset you can absorb absurd amounts of dmg. Also katanas should be avoided only if you're katana's target, as long as katana is focused on your teammate, they are a great way to farm charges to save said teammate. Another thing that didn't get mentioned, E-shield can be also used offensively as it deals 10 dmg on deploying. Good guide, overall
Yeah I have to agree. M2 is great depending on situations, sometimes an emergency M2 spam might be necessary to survive things. As for the Katana part, this was made before his primary cannot slow down anyone, so it is much more reliable to actively use Katana's as charge fodder since they have to actively use M2 to slow you down. As for the E-Shield damage, the 10 damage feels negligible for the move in general lol. Thanks for the feedback though!
the main problem i have with boombox is that i can't focus on trying to fight and rhythm gaming at the same time also the fact that the metronome is not linked to the in-game music, but i can see why it isn't, as some maps will be better for boombox
you can mute the music by pressing M but then you would be missing out on the sick beats. It would be amasing if the metronome was linked with the music, with the attack damage changing to make dps consistant
having map-dependent classes is bad for the game ... it would possibly make box op because the bpm is usually high. having consistency is good. instead having a customizable metronome (ex. 3 beats per lmb or 4 beats per lmb) would be good for people especially if you cant always hear the metronome due to sfx
14:13 kinda pisses me off seeing someone shaming their hyper tbh, esp if they're shaming them for playing ranged.. otherwise this video actually really helped me understand boombox tbh, and even if i dont use him i can figure out how to counter him :D (ps does his shield do any damage when you run into it or is that just his primary?)
So what i understood that boombox's gameplay is based of charges that you get on perfect hit on enemy.... Yeah the rhythm mechanic is quite obscure in fighting games
Now you need to make another updated guide cuz boombox is gonna be reworked into more of a speedy boi someday. And the shield support will probably be trowel from the fill in the blank.
fun fact: bass drop won’t cancel if you aren’t centered on the ground, so being on the side of a building you can sometimes hold the drop which is useless but funny
@@afly8983 i was doing overall pretty decent with boombox but i unfortunately contracted carpal tunnel in both my hands so i havent been playing phighting for around a few months now. which is really unfortunate bc i really wanted to play the halloween phestival but couldn't. since carpal tunnel unfortunately takes ages to heal for some reason (even though its just a pinched nerve in ur wrist) i think about after december i might be able to pick up the game again hopefully.

9:13 bro katana isn't a dangerous threat , bro's a SUICIDE tool for boombox 💀 I've encountered so much Katanas grappling Boomboxes , and they try to fight back thinking they have a chance when in reality , Katana's bulk and passive straight up slices them to pieces 😭
Maybe they don’t need a rework but here is an idea for Boombox Passive: Sic Beats Practically the same thing except gives 1 shield for perfect timing and 1 extra for every charge Primary: Pulse Wave The exact same thing Secondary: Shield Amplifier Starts Allies shield regen and restores shield if there is some left. Adds 20 shield to non-shield classes E: Protecting Overtone Exactly the same Q: Drop the base Consume all charges to temporarily rise up, giving 10 x number of charges shield to nearby Allies (but not yourself) and reduced cooldowns, metronome will change into a vertical one where a single bar will rise up slowly, timing q again will drop the base, canceling all shield given by you, but giving a 10% firing and reload speed for all primaries (except Biograft during ultimate because you don’t need anymore attack speed. Stupid Robot) Phinisher: Party Keeper With a shout of “Let’s keep this party going!” Boombox sets the boombox on the floor and turns it into a Dj booth. A protective dome (Protective Overtone but 360) will rise and slowly restore shield to everybody inside. Will also block projectiles and beat back enemies. Meanwhile, Boombox has to play a rhythm game using Lmb and Rmb to keep the dome up for a maximum of 30 seconds. Failing 3 times will explode the dome dealing 10 damage to boombox and enemies in the radius. Keeping the dome up will give all Allies 50 shield that decays 5 every 10 seconds. It will also burst out dealing 15 damage to all enemies and depleting their shield Hope you liked this rework idea and great job on the video I learned alot
Interesting indeed, but the complexity and more rhythm based parts (also all the Q, primary, and phinisher are all separate meternomes??) would discourage most players from even trying him, and that ultimate is unpunishable. You're also introducing semi-permenant scaling with Q.
@@qgdm6426 Changing Q’s metronome would be a bit complicated true. The Ult’s timing would be harder and harder as it goes on, up to the point where it’s very hard to keep it up for the last 5 seconds. I should give the dome an HP of idk 1000? Hyper’s ult would deal about 800 damage to it. And the beating back enemies would work on a pulse like the original m2 but bigger so you could still go inside but you take damage and get knocked out
100% Sword or Slingshot. They are very easy characters to pick up with simple to learn kits equipped with them. I'd lean towards Sword in general primarily since he doesn't require aim like Slingshot. As for a guide for beginners, it might happen.

I don't have plans most likely. There already exists a guide for 2 other characters I play (Slingshot and Sword) so I probably won't make another guide on another character unless I think of playing someone else.
Idk if it’s just me or why when I use bb, I use my sheild and it gets destroyed in 5 seconds, no has not the shield time limit, SOMEHOW the other team is doing that much dps to me, dunno if I just don’t have useful teammates, I’m being targeted, or if I’m just bad .
If you haven't found it yet, he is on a balcony beside the roof of the skate shop. Go the Lost Temple sign and turn left, and you'll find the skate shop there, just grapple up as shuriken to the building with the big wall right beside the roof of the skate shop, and he'll be there. You can buy him for 20k and 50 eggs (the last skin will likely cost this amount as well)
I'm gonna start watching your stuff more, when you were describing how boombox might be lacking in offense and defense due to his hybrid nature, I knew you knew what you were talking about.
14 damage each m1 is still nothing to laugh at, especially since boombox is more focused on tanking and speed plus the rhythm mechanic isnt very hard at all if you arent blind
