In this video you'll learn how to use Checkbox elements as filtering criteria for Repeating Groups in your Bubble.io no code web apps. This is a great way to select one or multiple filters and show specific data in your Repeating Group.
This demo also used Custom States and showed how to manually create data.

Hi there! Thanks so much for these tutorials; they've seriously saved me DAYS of figuring out all the Bubble terminology. Really appreciate that you teach at a good pace for beginners. I have one question: in the example above, you are filtering first and THEN orders appear. Is there a way to have all orders initially visible and THEN use the checkboxes to filter through those? Similar to what you'd see when you're online shopping, for example? I feel like I'm missing something obvious when it comes to that..

Thanks for reaching and glad you like the videos. I think I know what you're looking to do. A quick way to do this with the design in the video is to make two changes: 1) In the Repeating Group you'll see "Search for Orders:filtered". Remove "filtered" 2) In the Repeating Group, click on the "Conditional" tab (you'll see 4 conditions). Click on "Search for Orders" in "Data source" and you'll get a popup. It says "Filter contains..." Change "contains" to "doesn't contain" for each of the searched in each of the 4 conditions. That should work for you. There's probably a better way to implement but this is a quick one for you. Let me know either way. Best wishes

If I understand correctly, just mark "ignore empty constraints" at the bottom of the "Search for" window. That way, when no checkbox is selected, every "things" will appear. Hope it could help you!

How to create multi-select input with checkboxes?

Thanks for this Video! What about multiple filters? By default, this type of filtering results in the fact that all filters need to be checked for a single item to be shown. For example, if two additional filters in addition to Order Status (1, 2 and 3) would be Color (blue, green) and Form (circle, square), and I would be interested in just showing items with Order Status 1. This type of filtering would require all of the filters to be checked to show this particular item, or do you have a solution how to ignore other filters? Thanks in advance!

Hi Jonas. If I'm understanding your scenario correctly, you could do the following. Under "Orders" data type, add "Filters" (List of text). For every order, you'll have "Order Status", "Color" and "Form" and now "Filters". When the value of "Order Status", "Color" or "Form" are chosen when an "Orders" is created, add those values to "Filters". So you could have an "Orders" in the database with "Filters" containing "Order Status 1, Red and Circle". For the Repeating Group, you'd want to change the Search Filter (ie "Search for Orders:filtered") to be "Filter contains filtering_rg's Order Status). Note "Order Status" should probably be changed to "Order Filters" or something like that. Hope that helps and makes sense.

Hi Jonas - I created an updated video which shows a few different ways of filtering. Hopefully one of them covers your use-case. The video is at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jDqUSX2gx8o.html

Is it possible that the page loads with the checked checks, and the items appearing?
@EchoLakeTechnologies
@EchoLakeTechnologies 4 года назад
Yes it's possible. Instead of using the Custom States, create a Data Field of type Text (make sure you check the box so it's a list). Then in the Workflows, add make the Changes to a thing Step and Add the value. When the page loads, set the checkboxes by using Element Actions ==> Toggle. For each step you'll want "Only when" to be when your Data Field (list of texts) has the value. That's a quick and simplistic overview but hopefully enough to help you out. Best wishes

Nice!! But in my app I need filter the repeating group with a Multi Dropdown, not with checkboxes. How can I do it?

Hi Leandro - not sure if you've seen this video? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jDqUSX2gx8o.html It shows how to use a Dropdown filtering a repeating group. Hopefully it'll help you in your design. Best wishes
