Help... When starting a new timeline, why can't I choose which audio channel I want to insert (or overwrite) from my first audio/video clip? I can choose on the second clip, but not on the first clip onto an empty timeline. My source media has 8 channels of audio... I only want the first two channels. That means I have to delete 6 channels after my first edit. Please help.
@@Seventbh Thanks for responding... I'm traveling and cannot easily post. Please try these three steps in the "Edit" page: Step 1 - Create a new timeline with only 1 channel of video and 1 channel of audio. Step 2 - Open any source clip that has video and multiple channels of audio in the left window (my raw footage often has 8 audio channels, but 2 channels will show the problem as well). Step 3 - try to insert (or overwrite) that source clip onto the new timeline, but using only channel 1 source audio. You can't! There isn't even a place to select only one channel before the insert happens. The timeline automatically creates new audio channel(s) to match the number of your first source clip, and all 8 channels, in my case, are on my fresh timeline. Only after the first insert can you begin selecting source audio channels to use in subsequent inserts. Why is that? I know this isn't a major issue, but when I start new timelines, I should be able to use my first source without having to go through a six-step process to delete the unwanted 7 channels of audio from the timeline every time (six steps... unlock audio sync, select first unwanted channel, shift-select last unwanted channel, delete, right-click the timeline, choose "delete empty audio channels"). Most other editing software lets you choose the source channel(s) before the first insert. Again, thanks for responding. This is frustrating with as many timelines I have to create in a day (yes, I have workarounds, but shouldn't have to). UPDATE... It's worse than I thought... You have to leave all 8 channels on the timeline to be able to select subsequent audio channels!!! So bad.
