This was a very informative video, please make more of these. There is a lack of info for buyers and dealers take advantage. One dealer even said there is GST on the ev rebate and deducted it from the discount, they will lie and cheat in any way they can and will. Thanks for sharing
Hi Shari, you forget to mention about the $10,000 discount anyone can get from a KIA. That is buying few months old used vehicle. Depreciation kills these KIAs so it far better to buy used than new. When I am in the market to buy my next Toyota, I will reach out to Car Help Canada. Thank you 🙏
If you can find a $10k discount on a new Telluride or Seltos please let me know! They've changed the game for Kia. Other than those two models I know what you mean. Thanks we'll help you out!
This is a great canadian car buying advice channel. You explained it well and in a concise manner. Question: when contacting them either in person or on email, is it best to tell them, in addition to the car price, the accessories you want right away? Or tell them after you came to an agreeable car price? I don't want to corner myself in being too late, in the dealer ends negotiations and any add-ons are non-negotiable. Also, I am open to buy parts itself and install on my own.
Awesome video with canadian marketplace in mind. For a future video maybe do one applying all rebates for buying EVs and Hybrid's and PHEV. See how those get applied when purchasing an electrify option. I think it would help lots as this is a sector of power train in high demand.
Why not 1st ask the salesman...'What's your ASKING price?' and then make an OFFER based on what you already know in advance based on invoice and research?
I like to buy Toyota crown signia limited/ venza limited . Can you please give me advice which one is the best . Out of the door price is . From USA thanks
Thanks for your excellent advice. How do I find a reputable car buying service such as yourself in BC? I am looking at a new Honda CR-V or Toyota Rav-4 this year.
Now it's 2023 and I'm seeing 6-9000$ over MSRP with "packages" which you don't need also 5000$ over Kia website on some top trim models !! And if you don't want any packages then they won't sell it to you!!
Here's how I do it. The second someone is an ass, I politely decline to do business and walk. They'll try everything, but walk. They'll call you if they want the sale. If they dont, they dont want/need your business. I been shopping lately and have walked out of 3 dealships. They all called that day. When they call you tell them you want the best deal immediately or you'll walk again. You'll get to the nut right away this time. Last new car I bought they of course "forgot" my trade in keys with the manager. When things took to long with back and forth (I told them I have limited time beforehand) I politely asked for my keys as my time was up. When they started into a pitch again, I took out my phone and dialed 911 so they could see, they asked why I said "to report my stolen vehicle" (I asked for the keys twice) .... well that salesman ran to get those keys and everyones attitude changed real fast. I did leave but they called me next day. Eventually they sold me the car but behaviour was better. These guys have thick skins, all they care about it the sale and making a profit. They dont give a shit how it gets done and that car game is so deep in their brain they cant stop. Doesnt mean you have to play. If everyone stood up, the game would end.
Now pleaseee advise me how much I can pay for 2022 Honda accord hybrid base in this chip shortage time. The dealers are not negotiating at all. They are selling higher than MSRP. The MSRP for this model is $37170 CAD +the freight and PDI. how much can I negotiate if I place a factory order in Ontario? From what I researched so far, there is around at least $2000 margin for the dealer.
Very useful videos 👍👍 Can you please suggest me which car I should buy for daily job commute? Which is best fuel economy car? Please tell me which is best two car in compact and subcompact category? Is seltos is good option than Honda CRV? Thanks t
Why is freight a mandatory fee?, When I go to Wendy's or Harvey's I do not pay a freight fee on my burger or fries? Why do we have to pay it for a new car?
@@chrisforker7487 Exactly, so are we being double charged? In the US those fees are double charges, "dock fees" and just there for profit. PDI here is another, ask a dealer for the PDI report, and see the look on their face. One of my favorite tactics. If they do it the work they have a record or it is all BS.
@@chrisforker7487 true, but its an all in price. In the US dock fees are near 100% profit, how much of the 2k shipping is profit? I can train and drive back for less than half to the US factory then the cost of freight, so it does appear to be way way over inflated.
You left out the part where dealerships also make money on the financing. They could be getting a straight commission from their lender or points...jacking up your APR a few percentage point to make money off you. For example, if you get your own financing from your bank/credit union and they give you a rate of 4.9%, but at the dealership they give you a rate of 6.9%, they're making an extra 2 % on you. They'll tell you that's what your credit score allows for you. It's BS, they just want that extra 2% from the $30,000 being financed and the lender shares it with the dealership.
How to get the best price. Is easy. go to the manager of the dealer. Ask him what cars he doesn't want . They are the ones that he is now paying interest for just for being on the lot. 2 of us bought 2 eclipses for 13,500 in jan of 1990. What was wrong with them? no power windows. Sometimes it's just that simple. I'm sure there are some cars that most just don't like. But they do go and stop. Not as powerful or pretty as others but get the job done for way less. I was a dealer tech for 18 years. When you are on the inside you learn what really is going on. Like that item you see now going for 1/2 price. That tell me they can't rip off anybody else so now they have to come down to the real VALUE just to sell it. Your VALUE is way overrated now. I'm retired now. drive a 78 mustang 2 . I do hope this is my last car. I got it out of a garage after sitting there 17 years for 1500. Put 1200 in parts plus my own labor. So I saved at least 40k. Sure I'm not driving to California. But for getting around and groceries it's great! the cars ins? 62 bucks a month. stay well
I'm really surprised there wasn't more room in that Sportage. $1600 seems pretty insignificant at that trim level. I would have guessed $3,000 at least.
PDI is part of the freight fee which I mentioned. Manufacturers combine these together, whereas some dealers will separate the same amount into two fees.
This is all a mute point now that the inventory is at all time lows, practically non existent. Dealer can charge WTF he wants and get it. Same as with real estate over the last 2-3 years. You can blame anyone for this and the current astronomical inflation. I call it market manipulation driven by covid panic and fear.
Useless video right now. Both new and used car inventory are at historical low level now. Dealer shave no need to negotiate at all. Demand far exceeds supply. it's a seller's market right now. Dealer will sell to higher offer rather than lower offer. Forget above invoice, many cars are sold over MSRP now.
Just walk out the door when you are negotiating. I’m looking for a new truck and every time the salesman says he has no more room on the price or the trade in with minutes of me leaving I get a phone call offering me another discount. The last one was $4,000. I still have not made up my mind but I’m absolutely sure you can not believe anything car sales people say that includes invoice price.
