You should use a respirator with this. I know the whole covid thing makes people think that cloth masks work, but with this product you must use a respirator. Small amounts of DE can accumulate in your lungs over time and can cause irreversible damage.

For an indoor garden would you mix it into the soil or just stick with the puffer model? Thank you.

Wait for your top soil to dry a bit before applying. It will absorb the moisture if you had watered recently.

I have herringbone wooden floors and a silverfish infestation. They have eaten away all the wood glue/putty in between the wood, resulting in gaps between. Will DE work in this case? And it’s a large area to work on with kiddos running around :(

Got some of this stuff to take care of bed bugs that somehow got into my room. I didn't have any of the tools mentioned, so i smeered it with a rag. Will it still affect bed bugs when they touch it like that?

Was going to sprinkle food grade DE on my carpet to kill dust mites. Would you suggest that? Other videos say that it won’t work because it doesn’t kill the life cycle of the bugs

Could I use this in my laundry room ? I have a lot of fleas in my laundry room because of cats but I’m not sure if it’s safe to leave it there or not , or if I can inhale it . Would I have to vacuum it after a certain time?

CAUTION: If you have asthma, no matter how careful you are, there will be dust in the air for days after treating your house. That said, I treat our entire home every year for fleas (pet beds, carpets, cat trees). Here's my process: I bought a puffer on Amazon for a couple bucks because it's the most controlled way to apply. Start by vacuuming the floor "against the grain" so the fibers stand up. (You know what I mean.) Close the windows and turn off the AC so no drafts. I start on one end of the carpeted room and puff my way across the floor. You only need a dusting, not a coating. And don't worry about getting every square inch. Next, I take a wide outdoor broom, turn it bristles up and work the diatomaceous earth into the carpet fibers with the top of the broom. You want the dust to penetrate into the depths of the carpet, where it gets stuck under and in the carpet fibers. You don't need to have it as thick as applied in the video. It may feel like a soft powder, but to bugs each tiny particle is covered in razor sharp edges that cuts their shells and is a desiccant that dries them out as well as the larva and eggs. A little goes a long way. I don't vacuum for 48-72 hours depending on infestation level. It's perfectly safe for pets and people. Since fleas will try to stay in dark corners, along walls, and under furniture and beds, I try not to vacuum as often in those places so it will work longer. In my years of doing this, there has always been enough residual in the carpet to last through the summer and early fall after doing this every Spring. Our dogs get on our couch, so I also treat it BUT only between/under the cushions and the seams/zippers where fleas like to hide - same with pet beds. I do not apply outside to the garden/yard because it's a forever thing that will continue to kill more helpful bugs than harmful bugs - including worms and microscopic organisms that make the soil healthy.

I found this way too messy to put in your home. Outside and around the Perimeter of your house, in the dirt or between rocks and crevices. Basically anywhere where the bugs are but at the same time doesn’t make your home an eye sore.

Why only food grade? I have already bought a bag of it and it doesn’t say food grade on it! 😭

Wondering genuinely, what protection is that mask going to offer. Your aware it has Air Holes in it, so if you can breathe through it then you will be inhaling dust into your lungs. Would suggest a real mask with respirator included 💫✌🏾

Be aware that DE dust can seriously damage your lungs. So do not sprinkle it like shown in the video. You might want to use the wet spray method (mixing with water then spray).
