Best tips for FamilySearch that I’ve viewed so far. You do a great job of explaining and providing examples. Are you really this positive all the time? Thank you for the tips. I am a newbie with a great desire to learn more.

My father's birth certificate had his name spelled "Raimond" yet he was named Raymond. The doctor had completed the information. The date was one day off on my mother's BC.

Great information!! How do I find records of my German ancestors who never came to America? Is there an organization in Germany that can assist me or do research for me?
@GenealogyGems
@GenealogyGems 2 года назад
There are many types of records created in Germany you can use. Church records are essential. @@GenealogyGems Thank you so much for responding. Does it matter if the area of Germany they came from was part of Denmark at the time of their birth? BTW, I just found one of my great grandfather’s and great grandmother’s (both from Rieseby, Germany) immigration records on FamilySearch, so I know the ship they came over on and the date they arrived in New York (at Castle Garden)!! This is so much fun!! Thanks again!

I have made two DNA discoveries that change the parentage of my mother and grandfather, please tell me how to change this on Family Search?

I have a question for you...I was helping family Search out with the 1950s census. One of the lines had a Spanish first name and an English last name AND a English first name and a Spanish last name. One of the full names was crossed out. I don't know who crossed it out or why it was crossed out. It could have been the person was living under an alias, They had been adopted, or they were in the midst of legally changing their name. I tried to include both names so that which ever name their descendants were going by, and researching by, they could see the change and be able to check it out in their research. Did I handle this correctly?

Also, realize that the census takes, may have very bad handrighting and when a person is trying to interpret them, it is very difficult and they may get the spelling wrong!
