my very first smart watch and it almost drove me crazy, had to restart it all over again as I got it and myself completely confused. Your video was very helpful, thanks!
Good video, too many others blab on about the past models, and totally overlook the fact that new buyers just want to know how to navigate the menus via the buttons.
Thank you heaps for this awesome video! And this is not only about the heaps of information you are showing us but also about the fact that you take your time in explaining calmly without "running off with your speech to get max information into a short video" (no idea how better to explain what I mean). This makes it so so much easier to follow and understand, it's awesome! Thank you again, your time and effort was very well spent and it helped me a lot! xD
Ahah!! Thank you very much for your comment I'm glad you enjoyed! It's a hard balance, on some video I try to go as fast as possible to not waste anybody time. But for user guide like this one, I like to go in deep detail. Thank you again and I hope to see you again on an other video! 😉
I assume your french because of the language setting at the beginning, but your english is absolutely exceptional. No issues understanding you the whole time and the video was very very helpful thank you 🙏
Thank you so much for your comment. I sometime receive the reverse comment saying that I'm not understandable. It really mean a lot that you took the time to write thoses lines. And yes, I'm a native french speaker form Canada. 😉 I'm happy the video was helpfull to you and I wish you an happy holiday!
Agreed, your English is clear and very easy to understand! The only words that gave you away were "goggles" and "heart" ;). Thank you for the video, very helpful overall!
Amazing tutorial, thank you very much. Just got an Instinct 2 and there are so many options it's a bit overwhelming. Your explanations are really helpful!
Very good video. I've had my Instinct 2X Solar about a month now and your video helped me understand the glances better. Well done, best review I've seen
This is a very informative video (and Garmin should hire or pay you to make more videos 🙂). For those that wonder, almost everything in these instructions also apply to the Instinct 2X which I got recently, the biggest difference being use of the flashlight/torch that you mention at about the 20 minute mark. But that is so simple to use and configure anyway, so not really needed. And I'd never have thought it before I got the watch, but that flashlight is *the* feature I use almost every day.
Thanks, this was helpful. I learned a few things. I just got an Instinct 2 this week, mostly for tracking steps and such. So far quite happy with it. The "Smart watches" have such terrible battery life, so I decided against the Galaxy and Pixel watches. I don't have an iPhone, so Apple watch isn't an option. I've used Fitbit's in the past and wanted something a bit more. I'm happy with my choice, so far. My wife is always having issues with her Fitbit syncing and changing time when we travel. I've not seen syncing issues, yet. I'm hopeful.
17:36 🤣 "So if you sleep with someone, you won't wake him or her up." - It really cracked me up :D but anyways... thanks for the great video, its really detailed. I personally didn't knew about the funtionality with the "menu"-button, that you get a menu for everything... that's extremely usefull.
This video is amazing. I just got the same watch but when i go in control and i have the round menu i do not have the alarm…. How is it possible? What shall i do? It is a primary necessity…. Thanks if you can help
I enjoyed this extensive review of the Instinct 2. I know a lot of the features are similar, but is there any chance i could make a special request? Please do Instinct Crossover review. There's a dozen on RU-vid but none quite as comprehensive as this
Ahah. If you send me one I could do it. 😝 I did not test it but I think it's about the same thing but with hands. It also look a bit better in my opinion. Thank you for your comment.
You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you. --Maya Angelou,.,.,
Great tutorial, appreciate it 👍👍thank you! I’ve got an instinct 2 tactical bat it has not such a watch face (your favorite), was it preinstalled or you have bought it?
Excellent tutorial, thank you! Any recommendations for band replacements that are durable for mt. biking, specifically a soft mesh band that keeps watch in place with no movement
You got those setting when you first set up the watch. I believe you can adjust it somwhere in the setting yes. Otherwise you might need to change it on the Garmin Connect app.
Thanks! Solar does not change anything. I would go with the 2, but take the big one to get longuer battery life. Feel free to get it here : geni.us/Garminlnstinct2
I actually thinks the Garmin Fenix 5 plus had much better GPS signals. I can even get them inside my house. On the instinct it was incredibly difficult...?
I think it was just an impression. There is no GPS device that work well inside. For a GPS device to be able to calculate your location, it need to be line of sight with the satellites. Clouds, leaves, bridge, building, house... They are all things that can reduce the quality of the signal.
I think bluetooth can be disable but I never tried it. In fact if you set it on airplane mode it will be disable. But the weather only come from the garmin connect app based on the location of your phone.
I wanted to like this watch so bad. I took it on a 12 day trip to try it out but ended up returning it when steps were being added while riding in a bus.
Personally I would go for the instinct 2 in a heart beat. But that is a personal choice. Take a look a my buyers guide, you will surely learn a lot about sport watches. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--3uI_AB7lDE.html
@@HowToPM Thanks man, will watch now! It is for my wife, who is a group fitness instructor. Her Vivoactive 2 always crashes. I will add a purple strap to the Instinct 2 :-) Anything better than the Instinct 2, in a similar price range?
You might have trouble if your old phone is still around as it will try to reconnect over bluetooth. Disable your old phone bluetooth or put it on airplane mode.
Can this watch have topo maps loaded onto it, not just gpx route maps? I download my own topomaps from OSM and convert it to gmapbmap.img file and load it on my etrex10, can this be done with this watch?
Negative. This watch only have a breadcrumb as mapping system. You can also trace route, but the only thing you will see is the line you have to follow on an empty canvas.
Most MIP screen do that to save battery. You may realize that it might show second only when you move your arm to look at it. MIP screens only drain battery when there is a change to be made on the screen. I explain a bit of the science of this in that video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AQB7xg3ZRRk.html
The Garmin Instinct is a fantastic watch and function wise pretty much the holy grail of any digital watch lover. However, the design has become boring and is completely outdated, Garmin needs to make something really cool sci-fi/retro/futuristic looking (take a look at the Timex Command Shock for a good example), something in a rectangular 16:9 widescreen format. And please get rid of that stupid circle in the upper right corner it is entirely pointless in an MIP watch and WAY too much Casio'ish (G-Shock'ish).
@@HowToPM Thank you. I'm getting used to it now. Finishing the run seems to take a ridiculously repetitive process of are you done ?....are you sure?.....really sure?......save? sync ? sync with Connect ? The end workout, save the data, and upload it should be 1 or 2 clicks. You can always delete if you didn't want it. Can you brighten the backlight ?
I called to have this watch returned with an hour of owning it. My review is as follows: Just received this watch today. Extremely disappointed. The watch face is a dimly lit LCD screen that reminds me of Texas Instruments watch you would buy at Radio Shack 50 years ago. Absolutely amazed the backlit adjustment did very little, and there is no option to download a different watch face. I already called, complained, and will be returning it immediately. Only plus was how quickly Garmin was willing to issue a refund.
You can change the watch face and yes the mono chrome at night without the light sucks most times but out in the day the display is much easier to see than an lcd screen/oled and takes less battery.
@Ross MK I thought Garmin's advertising of the watch is very deceptive. The watch on their website has a very bright face. I was thoroughly PO'd to find out that was a sticker on the watchface and that the watch doesn't look anything like advertised.
