I watched several videos last night trying to figure out why I couldn't download the glyphs from the Samantha font...even deleting and re-installing the free Main Type. With a fresh mind, I searched again first thing this morning for a video with simple instructions. I ran across your short, yet informative, easy to understand video. My glyphs are back!! Thank you for taking the time to provide a video that was informative! Happy crafting!!
Thanks for sharing this. I needed something other than Character Map and been trying to figure out how to make its window bigger. This is way better and easier.
I second this! Totally agree. I watched 4 videos and then i FINALLY "came to the right place!" Thank you. I also remembered i downloaded i love glitter and it came with swashes. :)
I loved your video, and it was exactly what I was looking for. However, Maintype doesn't work on a Mac. Do you have any idea of a similar program that will? Thanks again!
Thank you so much for sharing! The regular "character map" that's installed in my computer is not great and didn't display my special characters, but Maintype is so easy to use!
Great video-thank you. I created a lot of glyphs when I created signs and other things for my daughter's wedding a year ago. Now I'm making signs for her friend and I've bought a new computer and lost all my fonts and couldn't find the glyphs. So, THANK YOU!
i love you so much . thank you for this video you are a godsend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have been crafting with cricut for years and the software is crap. not sure if they listen to us but they need to update and this software saves me so much time . thank you thank thank you thank you
Thanks so much! You are a lifesaver! I tried another tutorial that used maintype and font lab and couldn’t save my font as a svg. This is so much easier! Thanks again👍🏽
OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG - Do you know how many fonts I have on my PC that have glyphs to them and I have not used them? Let's just say I have over 3K fonts and I like the fancy ones - you can do the math. OMG, this is such a game-changer for me and I wish I knew this 2 weeks ago for my niece's wedding. That's ok. I am getting married on 12/23/23 and I will use it for mine. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO. XX
Thank you so much for this video. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how to get glyphs and within 5 minutes of watching your video I am finally able to play with this fun feature.
Loved your video... you saved me a ton of time... I was going insane for a moment because I could not figured it out. Your video helped me a great deal.... Thanks much
Thank you so much! I just downloaded a font from Creative Fabrica and it includes glyphs but I didn’t understand PUA. Your video was perfect! Thank you!
Fantastic! What a wonderful, straightforward video. You helped my project turn out exactly as I imagined. You just found yourself a new subscriber, I can't wait to check out your other content.
Oh my goodness...THANK YOU SO much for doing this video and giving a step by step tutorial how to add these glyphs to fonts in Cricut. AND for the recommendation for the windows free glyph program. I tried another way and it was so confusing. Your video was straight forward and easy to follow! Thanks again for making this tutorial! It was a real blessing!!!
After watching your video about how to add fonts to design space, I decided to check out your other videos. Truly, truly glad I did. They are easy to understand and follow. Subscribed and turn on all emery’s. Can you share what software and editing software you use to record your screen? I need to learn this for work and not having any luck on RU-vid. Thanks in advance for answering my question.
Thank you so much for the video explaining this! I did have to use the ctrl + options for it to work. I just downloaded and it was the 10.0 Free Edition. I was using the Angelina font you did and it didn't show near as many options as your demonstration showed. Hmm .. think it's just because it's a newer version?
Did you buy Angelina or download it for free? Sometimes free versions have less glyphs. That’s really strange, I’m glad you said something about less glyphs!
Hi Alex, I LOVE this video, SOO helpful to me.....my question is....how do you have your Maintype set up like that....mine doesnt look like that so is a bit harder to work with. Any tips you could give me would be great ! thanks
Thank you! I downloaded MainType but when I paste a letter into DS, it gives me a box with an X inside, instead of the letter with the glyph. Any advice on how to fix this?
I downloaded Maintype 10.0 and I don't see the font you used in your example and I love it. Do I need to download it from another site then bring it into Maintype?
Thank you for your video but wouldn’t you think by now cricut would have made it so much more simpler to use glyphs. It’s so straight forward with I love glitter they could make all fonts the same x
I think it has to do more with how the fonts are designed than it does with Cricut Design Space. If all fonts were designed like I Love Glitter it would be much easier!
You’re welcome! I remember being there, and it’s hard! Hang in there though, you’ll get it! Feel free to message me on social media if you need some guidance! You can find me at @diyalexvanover on FB, Instagram, and TikTok! Also have you seen my Cricut for beginners playlist? It may help clear some things up: ru-vid.com/group/PLdqAY6wTCkWDnlGdjImiztoBtt276M1xy
Thank you for answering my question. I was able to copy and paste. I just look under your instruction and ISaw aLot of glyps on the Angelina font. When I downloaded from da font it did not bring the glyps. What I should do to get them.? Thanks
Sometimes when the fonts are free the glyphs aren’t included. You may have to pay to get the glyphs on Angelina. But I Love Glitter is a free font with lots of glyphs.
Hi there. Thank you for sharing this video. I am trying to get it to work for me but am having trouble. When you click on the glyph, copy to clipboard then go back to DS, for some reason I am unable to copy and paste. Any idea what I can do to make this work? Thank you!
Hi there. I just watched your video. Thank you for sharing. I downloaded maintype program. I found my font. Clicked on it. Copied it to the clipboard. Went back into DS. Clicked to paste. And nothing is happening. Can you or someone help me please?? Thank you.
Thanks for the video. I am using windows 11 with the Maintype software. I can copy the glyph I want, but when I go into Cricut Design Space "paste" is greyed out and I cannot put it on the canvas. Does anyone know what I am doing incorrectly?
Leslie it works the same with Mac. But instead you type font book on your search on the Mac. Open it, the click the view for it that shows the little circles up top left. There you will see everything. Then do the same steps. Copy abs paste doesn’t work for me. Command c. Then command v. Hope this helps.
Hi Alex, I believe this would be really helpful, but... after I downloaded Main Type, I only have 1 font. What did I do wrong? Do I need to download fonts to it?
That’s so strange! No, you shouldn’t need to download your fonts to MainType. Try going into your fonts folder and right click and select “install for all users” if it’s available from the dropdown menu.
Thank you so much for the video! I was spent many hours trying to figure out how people got the swirls. Unfortunately, this is not working for me. I am running Windows 10 and Design Space 6.16.124. I can copy the glyph to the clipboard, but I do not have the Paste function in Design Space. I have tried the CTRL V as well and only get the rectangle, no glyph. Can anyone help?
If you could kindly help me. I downloaded the main type. It was much easier to read. I’m using it with my cricut program. I pick a font, write a word, open another text, go to main type, choose my glyph..right click on clipboard. Go back to cricut ,right click, paste, and nothing. I have did this over and over. I was using font hello and hello honey. I’m getting so frustrated, don’t know what I’m doing wrong. It looked so easy when you were doing it. That’s why I took this option. Any input...please. Thank you
Main Type has changed since I made this video. To copy the text from Main Type, press Control and C, and to paste it in Design Space press Control and V.
I follow your instructions but I can't get it to copy and paste to my Cricut. What am I doing wrong? The main type 9.0 has many, many Angelina. How do I know which one I'm using? Im supposed to be using the free download of Angelina but I can't tell which one it is. Can you help me here? Thanks!
Highlight the character and use the keyboard shortcut control and c to copy and use control v to paste it into a text box in Design Space. MainType is only going to show the fonts you have installed on your computer so I can’t tell you which version of Angelina you are looking for. Sorry about that!
Great video. Its not working for me. I can do "copy to clipboard" but when i try to paste by "right click and paste" it doesn't give me that option. I also tried control V and its not pasting. Can you help?
@@DIYAlex I am having the same problem she mentioned and nothing is working. I think it is a change in the Design Space because I am able to use your steps and get it to work in Microsoft Office, but when I do the exact same thing in Design Space in a textbox, it doesn't work.
I followed your instructions and it will not paste to design space no matter what, neither will character map. nothing will paste I do not know what to do. Do you have any advise
Hello Ma'am, I am from India. I want to know that can we convert Non-unicode font to Unicode font ? Means i have a Hindi (Indian vernacular lang) font in which if i type my name with Non-unicode and Unicode font, both times i get different alphabetic position. I can type easily with Unicode font, but with same script if i write with Non-unicode it shows difference. If by some mean we can replace Non-unicode character order in same manner as they are in Unicode font by modifying whole font, it will be easy for us to write in one style. Because right now i have to convert non unicode font to their corresponding style in unicode to use different font style. In nut shell i want to know can we replace character in Non-unicode font according to Unicode font by font modification software ? If yes then please tell me process for that. Thanks in advanced.
I download the font Angelina, but I did not get that many glyphs for the letters and I copy to clipboard and I was unable to paste on my empty text box. Hope you will be able to help me. Thank you
Try using the keys Control + C to copy and then use Control + V to paste in your text box. Make sure you’re looking in the private use area of Maintype.
DIY Alex the same thing happened to me and what you said to do worked! Thank you!! Also, I’m completely new at this but I wanted to know if I can use glyphs that aren’t originally included in a font, for commercial? Another question, I bought a font so can technically anything under “private use” on that font be used for commercial use ?
Actually this is a windows computer I'm working on. I haven't tried any font management on a Mac. I have heard that you can use the Font Book on the Mac, but I haven't tried it myself. Sorry about that!
