I solved this issue today and now I am snapping pics like I did back in the 70's! All I had to do was jump in my DeLorean that Doc Brown gave me. I set my time machine for 1985 I drove the DeLorean to the K Mart store and bought a whole cart full of film cartridges that just happen to be on a Blue Light Special! How did I get so lucky? 1985 was the year they stopped production of the film due to the loss in court to Polaroid. So Kmart was practically giving the stuff away. So glad I still have my Colorburst from all those years ago.

Sean G unfortunately I’m not sure, but my guesses are that because the 800iso Instax film is so light sensitive that any breach in the transfer process can corrupt it, but then also I think sometimes in the tray it can be not the perfect distance from the lens itself if that makes sense. I seriously hope some of yours come out!! Keep trying and if u buy film in store at like Best Buy etc you can price match B&H and save some $$!

Why would you be surprised that a 35-40 year old film cartridge doesn't work? Film has had an expiration date, forever, regardless of the format. The chemical emulsion on the film breaks down, as it ages. You should never buy ancient camera film, as it's going to be a waste of money. It's better to spend the money to buy a new camera, that is still supported.

Hi there! I have the Kodak Colorburst 50 and I just gave your method a go, I bought the camera at a thrift store and just had to order a new battery for it so I was able to try it out for the first time today! There was the old Kodak film in the cartridge already so I said what the heck and snapped photos to get rid of the film that was in the cartridge already, obviously none of the pictures developed correctly but it was worth a shot. Anyways, I bought all the materials you mentioned in your video except I bought the instax mini film in ‘’mono chrome” because the retailer had no more regular ones left. When I load the film into my the cartridge using the plastic file folder template, the picture comes out of the roller just fine however, nothing really develops & there was this black gooey residue on the back of the film towards the pod area but that residue did not come out when I had taken photos with the original Kodak film that was already in the cartridge. Do you think it’s because the instax film I bought is the mono chrome type or do you know what that could be from? The camera seems to work fine and there is no residue inside the cartridge or anywhere else aside from very little spots on the roller. I would love to use your method for my camera but just want to figure out if maybe I’m doing something wrong on my end! Thank you very much!

My Dad just gave me an EK6 thinking it could be worth something in a vintage sense. I'm not disappointed that its basically worthless, but saddened that he hung on to it and assumed it was valuable this whole time. I will keep it as an heirloom. Kind of want to use it but I don't know anything about these old cameras and based on this video, more complicated than I'm willing to invest in.

What type of film does it originally take? I have a Colorburst 100, and it takes PR-10. Would this still work? Also, now that Fujifilm has released wide film, does it work? And, was the battery easy to pull out for you, at first? It's really hard, on my camera.

Thank you so much for sharing. I'm trying this on the Pleaser and the EK6.. so far couldn't get it to work :/ Thinking it might be an issue with pre-exposing the film.. also the roller seems to be pushing down too tight on the film and squishing the ink.

This is awesome, super helpful. Do you know if this would work in any older '60s Polaroid Land Camera? I've got a few, a 100, 210, 250, etc. I'm working on building a similar concept but with the older style, with pull-out tabs just like the old packfilm. Do you know if - with the developer chemicals facing out (so, a sideways instax film) - would the rollers effectively develop the image?

Cool. Going through some storage I found my old Kodak Colorburst 100 camera. Fortunately, there was an empty cartridge in it. The battery was stuck and I had to carefully pry it out, but it looks good inside. Ordering a battery to see if it comes to life OK and the motor works. If so, I will give this a try. Just not sure how you are getting the film into the cartridge, I guess I'll figure it out. Interesting.

I thought when you took film out of the pack then its exposed to light and is ruined so I'm just confused on how you took the picture with that film if it was exposed to light when you were taking the video or did you change the film out and put a new one in in your changing bag?

hey! thanks for the great tutorial! since I haven't yet bought instax mini film I wanted to ask you a couple of questions about the whole loading up the EK4: from what I found out, the instax film comes within a cartridge. So to get the film out of it aren't you already exposing it? Like the film you show in the video - is it just a test film or what is it that you do inside the changing bag? Thank you!
@photochemicals7565
@photochemicals7565 7 лет назад
Yes, you are correct. The film that I am using in the video is test film. If you want to be able to take pictures, then the unexposed film has to be loaded in complete darkness -- either a changing bag or a darkroom.

I tried this with a 940 kodamatic instand camera, and it's using the film. However, it's like the image isn't developing at all or it seems over exposed. I've tried each exposure settings, but I feel like I'm just wasting film. It rolls out automatically with no trouble at all, but nothing is developing. How can I fix this?????

My kodak has automatic system to eject out the film, is maybe this a problem, or a roller problems? maybe too much squize the film on the way out?
