In this video, translation/isolation between differing binary or two-stage logic voltages are demonstrated using MOSFET circuits as well as some primitive methods using resistors and rectifier diodes. Multiple communication lines such as those used for SPI communication are also discussed with a quick reference to isolated translation circuits using MOSFETs.

Should have mentioned the dedicated IC's that are for doing just this. Like I2C & SPI translators. Would rather pop one chip down to translate a bus, than several resistors and fets for all the data lines.
