My Tone Master Pro unit arrived today, I may start making dedicated Tone Master videos myself, but I am more old school rock and blues. 🤘😎🎸🏍

The TMP is my first modeler, so a lot of these concepts are new to me. Thanks for sharing!!

Hi there your videos are quite good. I think your viewers would benefit from a how to use and setup the mixer features on the Tone Master Pro. In depth demo using all the input options. Thank you. Steve.

Gonna have to try this setup with mine after work. Tone sounds killer, and a tele is my main guitar. Guess I’ll try using my studio monitors with this instead of an frfr

Keep me posted! Lately, I've used my headphones mainly and just pump all my audio through my TMP. I just dropped a new video on clean tones!

@@valdon116 nice. My Headrush 110 was too boomy. I made the jump to Fender's cab and don't regret it. But I'm mainly wearing headphones when I'm recording lol

@@damionandy I have both, I use the fender cab for my dry, and the headrush cabs for the wet, easy enough to do with the multi outs on the tone master

I just tried this with mine using headphones and it sounds killer, especially with the high pass trick. Now I need to figure out how to upload to the cloud so you can hopefully critique it

Cool way to set things up for two different tones on one preset! So this should presumably work equally well if you instead use two of the same kind of amp with different gain/EQ settings. Nice! I do wonder, though, whether having the extra amp block in the chain eats up any processor power (sound quality) even when off.
@damionandy
@damionandy 7 месяцев назад
It will affect processing power, but not where you'll notice it. The beautiful thing about the TMP is that it will not let you overwhelm it. It will cut you off like a good bartender when you're getting too crazy.
@scottbecker3485

@@damionandy Cutely put. 😂 Was just musing about whether the (slight) processing hit by having a „dormant“ amp in a preset is worth doing it that way, or whether it‘s perhaps better to just create a second preset, instead. But I guess that boils down to being able to switch back and forth with a single click (your approach) vs. having to bank around and then engage one or the other?
@damionandy

@@scottbecker3485hahaha glad you enjoy my dad jokes. It’s really up to you and your preferred workflow. There’s not really a big trade off with the TMP.

Thanks!.., waiting for mine as we speak.., I've been running a Zoom G5 pedal board (not the 'N' model) for close to 10 years. It's served me well. Quick question? What's the best way to run the Tone pro through an amp,, I'm using a Peavey Delta blues Combo with two 10 inch Blue Marvel speakers.. Thank you in advance!
@damionandy
@damionandy 9 месяцев назад
Running any modeler through an amp can be tricky because you're amping an amped signal. At the minimum, I would disengage any cab on the TMP. You might be able to use the amps inside the TMP with your amp, but you may have to use it as a huge pedal board (You'd still save money using the TMP as just that). I'd really recommend getting an FRFR cab. I think the Fender FRFR cabs are great, it's awesome having the EQ flexibility on top of an amp, but if you just need something cheap, the headrush units aren't horrible. They can be a bit boomy, so just be careful. Lately, I've mostly played the TMP with headphones haha

Thanks! for the input!...,I have the Positive Grid FRFR that just came out, which I use with my Spark 40..., However, its got a lot of bass to it and no real way to control that unless I go into the Tone Master and adjust that way. my@@damionandy

I’m curious about something, Damion. Is the tone master pro capable of approximating the Boston guitar tone? That is a sound I have been in search of since I was in my early 20s in the early 2000s (involving Marshall Plexi-style distortion and a midrange boost that was achieved using fixed filters), but I decided after getting one that I didn’t want one of the original Rockman units. I was very excited when 2000 23 began to take delivery of a distortion unit that gave me access to that tone in a box that could be integrated into your paddleboard assembly, but I wouldn’t mind knowing if a device like this one was also capable of approximating that sound.

@damionandy 9 месяцев назад
Yeah, it does. The JVM does it well, but I’d change the default cab to the EVH cab. I’d also run a boost in front of it, it’ll hit the “tubes” the same way it does in person. They also have a Plexi unit built in, but I haven’t used it enough to speak intelligently on it, yet. I have a preset built and published called “AT Tones” which was inspired by Andy Timmon’s Electric Gypsy. I used the Plexi there

Hey Damion, great video, I'm currently trying to do this but with an Instrument Parallel 1 signal path (so 1 Amp and Pedal chain on top being clean, 2nd amp and pedals below for distorted) and ideally I want to set an on/off switch to the splitter, but the Tonemaster says that apparently that's not possible. Are you able to help? Is it a case of rather than setting an on/off swtich, you leave both paths active and just set a parameter switch to the splitter to be 100% on one path and 0% on the other, and then vice versa for when it's switched? Hope this makes sense and helps others out too. Keep up the great videos!
@damionandy
@damionandy Месяц назад
I think you might be able to do this with switch link, but it would probably be easier to just have 2 presets, IMO.
@FullMetalJoffie
@FullMetalJoffie Месяц назад
@@damionandy So I actually managed to find a solution 😀 If you have a preset with two paths, you can do a Footswitch Assign to the Splitter and set it to 100% On the top path/0% on the bottom when set to On, and 100% on the bottom path/0% on the top when switch to Off and this allows you to switch between different amps and pedals. At the moment I have all the amps and pedals switched to On and not Bypassed, so when you switch paths, you switch to that Amp and all of the included pedals being On. But I'm sure there's likely a way to tweak it so that you can switch with certain pedals active/bypassed as well. I just haven't had the time to deep dive into that yet. Anyways, keep up the great videos, it's a big help and greetings from The Netherlands!

Hi :).... What s the difference between amp level and patch level? :) What s your take on this? Both don t seem to make a change in tone, just on loudness,,,,,,Hummmm. Thanks ;)
@damionandy
@damionandy 8 месяцев назад
Amp level is the volume of the overall amp whereas patch level is the level of the entire preset. So if amp level is 80%, but patch volume is 40%, you're using 80% of the headroom available in 40%. Does that make sense?
@damionandy
@damionandy 8 месяцев назад
The Amp's Volume knob replicates how the tubes in the physical model would react at that volume, BUT the amp level controls the overall perceived loudness. AKA you don't have to rupture your ear drum to hear natural tube overdriven tones.
