How do you deal with the saturated skies? I have the same problem.

I take out the saturation in Lightroom, I think I show it in this episode: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g0_FnwsiWNA.htmlsi=V2agZjg6IyWj4iwG

*" Source - Digital camera " for a 35mm film negative ?!*

You mean the camera I scan with? It’s the Canon EOS R with a 100mm macro lens.

@@TIPSinc01 Thank you for your reply. I was watching the video, and during the vid, while you were using Negative Lab Pro V3 working on negatives, you have chosen for the Source ( in the negative lab menu ) - Digital camera , which made me a bit confused. I thought that you were actually working on scanned 35 mm film negatives ( Sorry about my english, it is not my native language )
@TIPSinc01
@TIPSinc01 Месяц назад
@@major-Mihailo-Madzarevic oh yeah no problem mate! The source means how you’ve captured the negatives. So here I used a digital camera. You can also use a flatbed or other negative scanners, then you need to change the source.

Super video! And the IQ you get is way better than mine. I got my scans back and they don't look good. I scanned the negatives my self with 36 mpx sensor and they still are blurry. And that's Portra 400 and even ektar. Some of your looked so good on my 42 inch TV I could swear it was medium format. Well done!

Some tips to get sharper scans: - Use a good macro lens. (This one is probably the biggest factor) - Don't stop down too much! Your effective aperture increases significantly as you get to macro distances. Staying at or below f/5.6 for full frame sensors is a good rule of thumb. - Turn off IBIS/Lens IS. - Use a blank shot to determine the shutter speed. Adjust until it's no longer clipping

Love this video - quick question, what is the scanner you use to scan the negatives onto you computer?
@TIPSinc01
@TIPSinc01 7 месяцев назад
I’m using the DSLR scanning method. Got an episode just about that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OwE-iFuMqCE.htmlsi=kiKyOvDuS9L-u96x

How did you pick this sync option to get rid of the border in every photo?
@TIPSinc01
@TIPSinc01 8 месяцев назад
I crop one photo, then sync those settings, down right bottom in Lightroom. Just make sure you adjust every frame a bit because they won’t be 100% equal 🙌🏼

nothing beats NLP. I was once in your "sceptical" position and always let my lab do the scanning. Using NLP really helped me stepping up my analog photography game.

Does it matter if you tweak lights or shadows in Lightroom vs in NLP? Why not just convert then do all the edits in Lightroom? Also, do you have to export as tiff then re-edit in Lightroom? It seems like an extra step
@TIPSinc01
@TIPSinc01 10 месяцев назад
I think it's good to have it as good as possible in NLP, because you'll be editing the RAW file. If you try to do it after everything will be reversed. Or you export it as a TIFF and do it then, but then you'll have less information in the file then a RAW file. And there's an option in NLP to make a copy immediately, I'm just used to do the extra step.
@Nitidus
@Nitidus 5 месяцев назад
@@TIPSinc01TIFF is a lossless file format and therefore equal to RAW, no? I think this has more to do with NLP handling the changes made to an actual negative much better than trying to use Lightroom slider "in reverse" - this very often leads to anomalies. Exporting the positive as a TIFF should do the trick, but making a positive copy via the NLP checkbox is obviously easier and spares you saving an extra file if you emulate it in Lightroom instead. But NLP directly editing the negative probably still has an edge because it's custom built for that exact purpose.
