This webinar explains NOAA data and how educators can get started using it. Please see below for links to all websites referenced in this presentation.
Correction: We made an error in this video. One petabyte is actually equal to one million gigabytes! (What can we say? We’re only off by three orders of magnitude...) We’re sorry for the confusion.

A petabyte is a million gigabytes, not a thousand.

NOAA lies! They post that the Greenland ice sheet holds the equivalent of 7.4 meters of sea level rise, but the math says it would only cover 1/64000 of the surface with 1 ft of water. That is a major discrepency using their own data.

The surface of the ocean is 361,000,000 km². The Greenland ice sheet is 2,850,000 km³. 2,850,000 km³/361,000,000 km² = 0.00789474 km of added depth spread out over the worlds oceans. 0.00789474 km/1000=7.89 meters. What numbers did you use?
