bro thank you for just getting to the meat and potatoes of the video. all these youtubers are just flapping their gums about what they're about to talk about and or teach you and we're still 10 min into the god damn video and i still havent learned what clicked on for. So thank you my guy for just getting to the point. you brought me value and i appreciate you for that.
Brilliant! I'm used to Logic but FL has some really great stock sounds especially FLEX. But getting my head around these patterns was driving me crazy but you've simplified it drastically. Thanks Jay.
Can you show more examples of how to use Pat and Song? Or maybe create sample melodic beats that covers the difference of both, I'm still confused of their functionalities
jay, awesome brother. this video helped me out tremendously, i was having an issue: when i would paint the patterns in the playlist they sit of center. it wasnt doing that before. ???
this is very help for a noob like myself. my question is: I'm playing the drums on a midi keyboard but its looping in only one bar, how do I get it to loop the full 8 bars with the first pattern? sorry if that's a dumb question but im very raw to this entire daw thing
I'm learning how to make patterns but I'm wondering how I can duplicate a pattern and then change the sound on the channel rack to a different one? Thank you.
There is a big confusion between patterns, tracks, mixer channels.... I have a tendency to make patterns and put them in mixer one by one, so there is no confusion, but as soon as I use some effect, that effect appears in the next track and my order get destroyed. Now I don't know what to do, how to arrange the pattern in mixer, as my pattern and mixer channel both parted, and my order get destroyed. Can you please sort out the issue.... I have another issue. I put my vocal in first track and after that I make some music and name then as pattern 1,2,3 etc. Then also, my order in mixer channel get destroyed. What to do? Can you please make a video on how to use effect and still organise them in mixer channel, and how to put vocal and still organise everything in mixer channel? It's a really big issue.
Hi Jay, Following on from this. After you have split the pattern by channel. Is there a quick way to route the channels to tracks on the mixer or do you have to manually assign them?
Yeah ctr +l left click and drag on each element in the channel rack to select them all, then go over to the mixer and do a ctrl + shift + L to route, name and color them in the mixer.
I’ve made a synth and put affects on it but I’m trying to use the same pattern and synth but without affects but keep them both in the same track I’m kind of lost I’ve tried so much
hey jay, i have questions about fl studio. while im building my song the patterns that i place in the playlist start to go off center from each other, i wonder if there is an align button or something to tighten up the little spaces in between the pattern box when placing on the playlist. for now im just doing it by eye, and its tedious stuff. thanks buddy.
ok some pointers im still lost on, if Ive made a drum pattern and then split the channels (as u showed how to do at the end), how do I put them in the playlist as one pattern, not 4 separate tracks? also, if I'm repeating a section and just put my pattern twice consecutively on the playlist, how can I edit the midi/pattern data on one track without effecting the other?
@m4rz585 If you want it in the one pattern, then don't split by track. On the pattern you want different, right click at the top left of the pattern and choose "make unique" now you can edit that pattern without changing the other.
Question, is there a way to make another drum groove without having to create another pattern? Like let's say I want to do a specific groove for 4 bars then change it a little bit for the next for bars. I've been having to create another pattern. I switched from Logic not too long ago and it's possible to do on there. Thanks!
Yeah you have to make a new pattern but, a quick way to do it is, in the Playlist copy over your original drum pattern and then at the top left you can right click and make that drum pattern unique. This will copy over the whole pattern to a new pattern and allow you to quickly make changes. I'll make a video on this soon.
My issue is puting a beat on the piano roll but it doesnt set it by the boxes thats on the piano roll. It sets it anywhere i click, making it off by a hair. Can you help??
yo man, i have a problem. when i move patterns around arrangement, they move for like a pixel, not for a quarter of a bar. i've probably hit some key combination that i dont know. this means that i have to make my pattern pixel precise every time, it annoys me, its like i constantly hold ALT
Can u save projects as patterns that way u dont have to close one in order to open one? Like what if i like two seperate projects im working on and want to merge them?
Hi mate, i wonder if you can help? my scroll bar at the top right of my fl studio 20 screen, is missing and i can only see the top left arrow for the scroll bar. So basically the arrow on the top left is there and not top right.
