I copied and went to tools then clipboard then certificate import and I ge: Total number processed:1 Imported:0 Unchanged:1 Then only an option to click OK And I’m stuck their?? 🤔
@@j.e.bennett2997 This seems to be the message one gets upon _invoking_ a .asc file. To _use_ a .asc you need to open it in an editor and copy its (text) contents appropriately. If you're decrypting, you're going to copy those contents into Kleopatra - as the instructions explain. You're responding, proximately, to the pinned post with a reference to the author's decryption youtube URL - is decryption what you're trying to do? Still, you posted 6 months ago so maybe I should assume you've figured it out already.
I've been screwing with this pgp crap for 2 days. Thank you for finally putting up a tutorial in plain English. I mean why the hell do they make it so difficult. Who designed this crap? Your great though. God bless you.
Lawrence Felbs Hey chat with me about the pgp shit? I have a rough understanding of encryption. This shit is such a pain. Do I NEED to get a separate software? Can’t I just use a site that encrypts and dec ypts
@@davidburm No, never use a site to encrypt/decrypt something. That's just bad opsec. The reason why you don't wanna use sites to encrypt/decrypt messages is in the event the site gets hacked or you're using public Wi-fi and go to that site to encrypt/decrypt something and you get caught in a man-in-the-middle attack, that information could get intercepted by bad actors or LE (law enforcement) and could get you into trouble. That's why you should always PGP encrypt/decrypt messages yourself using PGP software or Tails OS.
Amazing explanation, after I've watched 10 others, yours has me getting to grips with pgp when I thought it's going to be futile. Great job mate and thank you.
This video literally exists (among many others, but this is short and straight to the point) and yet people still use market built in air encrypt lmaooo I hope people learn after incog…
finally I'm starting to get it! well explained bro! It's easy when u get it its just ppl make it seem like its more complicated than it is, u just gotta absorb the info then ur good :)
Great vid , it has been said those who cannot explain something simply have little to no understanding regardless of the complexity. You sir have smashed it! Thank you for explaining in a way I found easy to understand. Warmest regards
At 3:12, "Tools" > "Certificate Import" > It doesn't come up as an option. It's in Grey. Yours is optional, to click on in Black. I don't have the option to choose it. Why is mine any different? It's closed to me. Awaiting your reply, as of right now (@ 9 PM Mountain TIme on January 6th, 2022) I am unable to proceed. Thank you.
Finally understand now, thank you. Everyone uses a key and box analogy which is ok but was hard to grasp that concept in application terms, could just be me. Great video.
Bruh why is it greyed out for me. And why do you need to create your own keypair just to encrypt a message. Edit: It was because the pub-key wasn't copied to my clipboard :/
Hey! Thanks so much for this video man. I had troubles understanding how to encrypt a message because I didn't understand the whole certification process but you were incredibly clear with it. Thanks a ton for this! You really have a knack for explaining this stuff :D
I have an updated version and it is different. I can't save keypairs like you do and idk, I don't feel i'm taking the correct steps. I'd get the old one if I could.
In the old version you could import the file. In the new version that I just downloaded, you have to copy the key, then click edit-paste, and the key goes right into the key ring.
But how do you open the key with notepad? Mine just comes up with random Egyptian symbols, is there a format you're supposed to save your public key in that wasn't mentioned in the video? Thanks!
please help. Why is my "certificate import" tab unavailable (it's greyed out) ? I tried to uninstall Kleo and reinstall it back, but it's the same. Last time I used it, it was available :(
No problem, only 65 steps and a couple dozen new words to add to you vocabulary..... Somebody's got to come up with a simpler solution! That being said, your's is one of the clearest and well presented. Thanks
Awesome video! 1 question, when sending a encrypted message, do i always make sure there are recipient's to sign and encrypt??? That put it pretty simple.
I have a problem that i need to solve asap. I've done everything requested in this video but i cant see the clipboard symbol, it's not there. It says that encryption is successful, i click okay but then that's it. There's no clipboard symbol so i cant copy the encrypted message and send it to receiver. How am i supposed to solve this problem, can you please help me? I'd appreciate it.
The message is in your 'clipboard', which is just a memory location in your computer. Start up Notepad, then on a blank page, use CTL-P, and your message will appear in Notepad. Or start Work, CTL-P, and you message will appear in Word. it's confusing because 'clipboard', in this case, refers only to memory.
you are importing somebody's public key but not giving any name to it ... would you not have encrypted communication with several persons? ... and so don't you want to give some name to an imported public key? ... later when i need to send a message to a person how else would i know which key is whose key if i have multiple imported keys?
Apparently the software was updated from 5 years ago, so at first the "key pair creation wizard" does not appear and immediately jumps to the big window without saving the first code on the computer, so I got stuck at such an initial stage I would love if you are still active on this account to solve my question of where to go from here
great video thank you the only thing that confuses me is when at the end you go down to notepad (4:18 in video)and pull it up and paste in the (supposed) new encrypted message but where did you copy the new encrypted message from...as far as i am seeing you are copying and pasting the unencrypted message..I never saw you copy the new encrypted message...sorry it might be me but this is confusing. thanks
mine dosent show in kleopatra under details that it is openpgp ...also when i go under tools and then clipboard to CERTIFICATE IMPORT after copying someones public pgp at 1st it lit up but said 0 imports were made and now the certificate import option buttton isnt even lit up.
Where does gpg4win get used in all this? I just installed gpg4win and it just left some executable on my disc. I followed this video using Kleoptra which I previously installed months ago. I never ran or used gpg4win. Does Kleopatra use the gpg4win exe?
Hi I use cleopatra 3.1.2 Once I copied my public pgp key and go to tools> clipboard> certificate import. I get this! Detailed results of importing Clipboard: Total number processed: 1 Imported: 0 Unchanged: 1 Then nothing happens... What am I missing here?
I got it very easily. Well done!! Ads are allowed on your channel and I click the links. Why doesn't the new pgp key have a name? Can you change the name of your own pgp key?
After I download kleopatra do the key pair then export the public pgp key to ky desktop.. it won't let me right click to open with notepad or open at all .. any advice?
I watched about 100 videos on this topic and I still don't understand. I see clear messages with "this message was pgp signed" all the time. On Twitter, on forums, where ever.
Nice video, quick question is it possible for someone to decrypt my message using gnupg while I use kleo ? Since the new update for a certain OS they only use kleo…
het there great Tutorial Thanks Here I am facing An issue After completing the export of our own file and when I got to Tools I am not Able to get certify option what should i do?? please do help
Thanks mate, I'm doing everything right and the recipient says I'm just sending my public key, not the encrypted message I'm trying to send? Any idea what's wrong?
Trying to send a csv file encrypted with the recipients public key. I can't use notepad for that. How does that work with the clipboard? I was able to import their public key without issue but it isn't on the list when I try to encrypt a csv file.
Could you please tell how I can configure Kleopatra server? The compendium is obviously the false one. Too old probably! GPG4win is version 4.0.0 and the compendium Version 3.0.0 from 2nd August 2013... They say one can select between OpenPGP and X.509 but in gpg4win it is "active directory" and "LDAP Server"...
how do I send a public message (like I need to tweet a photo) with PGP signature? How can people confirm the photo was published by me and not some imitater who copies my public pgp signature?
