I think that's a vastly widespread misconception. The whole tired cliche of "you're just thinking too much" is counter-productive and self-defeating The truth is you're not thinking *correctly* , as in you need to think over the situation more efficiently and thinking harder, differently, and not just quantitatively. So the truth is if you think over something correctly, smartly, then it doesn't *seem* to be over-thinking, and you will reach the next step/conclusion/result more efficiently and closer to the best possible outcome. If it feels like you're "overthinking"--you're actually *not* . You need to stop, reflect, and think of a different approach while simultaneously becoming cognizant of your emotional and mental states during this process, and look for something you have overlooked and highlight any possible lapses in judgment.

Grateful for this post, but the timing for me is 5 years late. (Said jokingly, any time is the perfect time for learning helpful information.) I say this as a compliment because of the many years, trials, time in gathering information, (some of which came from your brilliant channel), money spent to gather the intel on the types of things you have mentioned here. I have had many issues with these sorts of things due to my ADHD, which I find as a super power once I understood it. I was obsessed with productivity well before my diagnosis, even delving into the land of neurology and behavioral decision making. You summed up everything perfectly. (Unlike myself with this really long comment) Keep up the great work here.

"Even if you're going on vacation in two days.. just start now" Bruh I'm trying to get a more specific music practice routine going and I'm leaving for North Carolina from Florida in 2 days... this is strangely what I needed to see today lol. But I completely agree with everything mentioned. Don't let fear or overthinking get in your way. As soon as you let your self start taking action and trusting yourself, you'll become so much closer to the person you want to become. Failure and setbacks are inevitable, but it is the courage to move on and keep trying that will set you apart and help you find success.

For me the hardest part is concentrating on a single habit or skill at a time and prioritizing it. I just have to many and it's too hard to pick a one, so I end up doing nearly no progress in each of them. Thank for the great advice, I will try it and hopefully accomplish some of my goals!

I apply information of productivity by like experimenting and just trying it out and seeing if it helps me. I like using experimentation to see if it works for me and tracking if it actually made a difference in my life. I write stuff down too and whenever I stray I look at it and try my best to get back into it whenever I'm straying/ getting unmotivated again. Also, what you said about adapting is SO important. You have to adapt it to your own schedule. Oh! And also I pick the top 5 things I want to improve on and then focus on one at a time, before I slowly build off the other things I want to try/ work on. Like if I have improving my sleep, reading more, writing more, etc. then I'll focus on sleep first and then once I get that down work my way from there. That's just what helps me tho. :)

Sankyu(Thanks) Sir, For sharing the bit of taking action. I really loved the input bit because expecting too much at the start doesn't get you motivated well, also I liked the bit of 30-day challenge and last but not the least I loved the bit to put an Accountability Partner. Have a great Day Ahead. Regards Yuvraj.

Thomas...you are the man. I read a lot of productivity related books and take mad notes. It's a bit difficult to apply all the things I've "learned" though so I apply bits and pieces instead. Like for example, Barbara Oakley's book A Mind For Numbers has a lot of tips for learning/problem solving but I mainly make use of focused and diffused state of thinking.

I tried to watch this and zoned out about 20 seconds in Wow. Used some of your tips have "Quit" the day job and shifted to a job in my feild... and am starting a RU-vid (*Been saying that for 2 years* but i had to Get a camera, lights, green screen, mic etc dont think I am over planning I just had a lot of life stuff to shift... in 2006 I was approached at a convention by a youtube rep who wanted me to make a channel and was super enthusiastic about what i do. Cosplay diy q&a how she saw me anyway I just had some personal life *DRAMA* and *TRAMA* at the time and things shifted and i ended up with 4 kids for a couple years >not mine just short term full time care. Well... after that i had some medical stuff and as i started getting ready to start a Friends Situation got worse her finances were in ruins and Well cancer. So I bunkered down worked and helped keep her afloat until her Disability came through. So Going at this sort of backwards. BUT a little tip here and there and just having that *10 min of get er done* that these videos help. Alot. I put some what i need to to what i want to do and started the how i am going to do it. i have started filming some vlogs Doing interviews of others and plotting out some DIY videos and hacks for Sewing and costuming. There is a RIFT i had a plan i was colabing but my colab wants my videos* thats 100% not the agreement we had and pointless as they dont have any other plans to follow up but whatever I will edit and give them videos and make alt versions for myself and clips for the artists - who use instagram and need smaller shorter clips) Right now i have a "Gig" that is related to my feild and well its fun* not what i expected to be doing today and the people are awesome. Fun* thing about working with people who are YOUNG is that they want and are willing to make friends. I being the younger of my friends has Started being the older one and in a way its a benefit to my younger friends to have someone who for example Already has all the camera gear - as one Guy is in school for photography on a break working for the summer and he can borrow stuff for some small odd jobs.
