hello Tony, im new in computer science field and I got a silly question here. When you copy the IP for file transfer, the IP address there is an external or internal IP? is it static or ephemeral IP? Is it private or public IP address? I got confused by the IP categories here, already read and watched some videos and still don't understand. Hope you can briefly explain it to me to clear my confusion. Thanks in advance.

I am assuming for passwordless connection, you create the account on the linux/destination server and from the origin server (Windows in this case), yoiu use puttygen to create the key pair and give the public key to the linux server under the /home/root/.ssh folder and in a file called authorized_keys right?

REAL, PRACTICAL instructions that actually worked for me. I followed the instructions on StackExchange and even the official documents, and all they did was waffle around without getting to the point, and when I managed to decipher what they were asking me to do... ta-dah! It wouldn't work. They had omitted the need to key in the port number. I watched this video just once, and then tried out exactly what you did, and BOOM. Problem solved.

What "arguments" are needed to perform the same operation with a directory? I tried using the Linux argument "-r" (which I am "more" familiar with) and that did not work in Windows. Update: Nevermind. I placed the -r in the wrong position. Operator error with syntax.
