Good info! I just learned that’s it’s not necessary to massage it into the skin (which may cause irritation to sensitive skin) so now I apply my tretinoin gently
I used Tretinoin for over a year about 3 night per week until flaky dry skin began to creep in. Here’s what I do now, and it seems to work: I cleanse, then apply a very light layer of Aveeno facial moisturizer. I let that dry while I take a nighttime shower before bed. About 30 minutes later, I apply my Tretinoin to now dry skin, then massage the remainder onto the top of my hands. I feel like I’m seeing the benefits, but without the overly dry skin effect. On one or two nights, I alternate with Vitamin C or use a Glycolic acid.
Hello Dr, I was wondering if you ever feel pressure to use the more “invasive” techniques for anti aging like Botox or doing lifts since your focus is skin and you have many clients. I like to see your forehead move but feel that doctors may need to show (unnaturally) young skin so clients trust them. Kind of like how you’d expect a good dentist to have good teeth,
The short contact approach works for my ultra sensitive skin. Was able to use retinoid over night for almost 2 decades w/no problem. Now if I do that it wrecks my skin barrier. I leave the retinoid on for 2-3 hrs and then take it off w/micellar water. It’s not as good as leaving it overnight but it’s better than nothing.
I started Tretinoin 2 weeks ago and so far, no irritation at all. I am able to apply it every night. Just a few breakouts too… my skin has never been sensitive but I feel like it isn’t working?😅 anyone else have no issues? 😂 I’ll stick it out of course and maybe ask for a higher dose in a couple months
I didn’t have any irritation until about a year down the line, then suddenly got dry scaly patches that interfered with applying makeup. After that, I switched up my routine and now have no irritation.
I use beauty of joseon retinal eye cream for my whole face and neck for the last six months. I use it every 3 days. My skin fells much smoother and brighter. I use it after double cleansing and moisturizing, and wait half an hour for its application.
I did once a week for a month. Then I use it 2x a week for a month. Then 3x a week. For 2 months and after that I couldnt use it more than that. Barely anything on my fingers. It actually felt like I have nothing but surprisingly even after feeling that there was nothing on my fingers I noticed the change after 6 weeks.
I simply don't get it. I have neurodermatitis since i was a baby, but i have it quite under control. So everytime i want to try something new, im veeery scared that it could trigger my skin and get new neurodermatitis excema. So with retinol i was always too scared. Cause every second product will make it worse instead of better and as retinol is "so aggressive" it felt very scary to try it. But finally i did try it and NOTHING. Not one negative reaction 😂 Not to say, my skin feels much better than before. Im still sooo surprised and i never expected it to be like that 😅❤
I have been on tretinoin 0.025% for 9 months, I am not able to notice any improvement. I use it every night now. No irritation at all from the moment I started applying it, no peeling, no redness, no stinging, nothing. The cream is called retirides. I had bad hormonal acne as teenager. I have oily big pore skin, my skin has not even evolved into a dryier one. Should I scalate up to 0.05% or 0.1% retirides??? I am loosing faith in retinoids.
Honestly I found that just using a good, rich moisturiser afterwards helps with almost all dryness and irritation. I have pretty sensitive skin but I use tret every night with little side effects
I thought it was best to apply 1 hour after cleansing & moisturizing, sensitive skin or not. Please clarify application timing for one without sensitive skin. Thank you.
I suggest the second or the latter, the first option is a waste. I used to do that. But if your sensitive to retinol then it’s probably because you are using to much. A little goes a long way. Focus on the spots mainly, it spreads under the dermis.
I have sensitive Rosacea skin (under control), and I've been able to successfully (and amazingly) use Paula's Choice Resist Intensive Repair Moisturizer with only 0.01% retinol. But there is also a PC serum with 0.3% RETINYL PALMITATE that I'd like to try when this is used up. How do the two types of retinol compare? Does the percentage even correlate? Is the 0.3% actually that much stronger? Or stronger at all? Thanks!
Could you sandwich the Retinol between moisturizer so it’s not as irritating? I saw this method was recommended when using differin (adapalene gel). Will it work for a regular retinoid?
I always have burning dryness itching and pigmentation around the lip corner and around the nose but only 2 weeks before my period… once I have my period my skin will go back to normal… and this happens every month 😢 do u have any solutions…
I have eczema! Once I get through my “stash” I’m going to try to purchase the gold bond retinol that dr dray raves about! Also, the old neutrogena wrinkle repair is good. However I’m not sure what is the present day equivalent…
What if I dont have burning, redness, stinging or irritation, but every time I use retinol, the next morning my skin is bright and plump but I have 10-12 new tiny dots of pus, like colorless pimples?
First day retinol, then EGF or snail essence. Third day vitamin c serum. Repeat. 😂 Conclusion comes from a super sensitive Hashimoto’s patient’s experience-- me.
So bummed. My skin just couldn't handle it. I tried for 15 months. Stopped using it and am trying spironolactone. acne isn't 100% gone yet but my skin is so much happier. Tret was making me look older!!
Did you try a low dose of retinol instead of tretinoin? I understand that even low doses can bring great results over time. I'm using a Paula's Choice moisturizer with retinol.
