So far this is the best video for flashing sonoff . The rest just asking you to cut wire and solder the board. Come on, serial connectors how complicate can it be. Great video.!! This is definitely the right way to do it. No damage to the board.

@@HomeSight Thanks! I don’t think there’s much else, maybe custom RGB effects? If possible specifically for yeelight RGB strips, and/or setting up duckdns for remote access of HA. That would be much appreciated 😁

I think I have also made this mistake, were there any obvious signs that the device is bricked? Mine still has lights etc. but the NODEMCU Programmer just seems to be hanging at "Note:Begin find ESP8266."

Your link for the windows flasher need a lot of explanation... it seems to want to flash something called NodeMCU onto the device rather than Tasmota, and figuring out how to change its mind about that is a bit beyond me.
@HomeSight
@HomeSight 3 года назад
Hi! NodeMCU is a device type rather than a firmware. You need to download the firmware as I show in the video. Sorry if it wasn’t clear!

Hello. Thank you for the video. May i ask if this device is compatible with non sonoff pir sensors? I have a few of them. It seems like it does not send encoded radio signals, so i think it should work. What is your opinion?

My Sonoff bridge arrived to day - ordered after discovering your channel last week!! Need to now order the FT232RL and some leads(Probably will order a breadboard kit) My question is my Mac has USB-C/ Thunderbolt 3 ports do I need a USB port convertor? and any suggestions of what type? Many thanks in advance

@HomeSight 3 года назад
Man, I should be taking a commission on this stuff!! That’s great, I guess you can just use a USB C to USB mini cable, if you have one of those, or just usb C to USB A (female). I’m glad I’ve helped!

I curious why some of the videos (pinkywafer) show cutting traces and soldering two jumpers - and yours doesn't. Do you know why that would be required?
@HomeSight
@HomeSight 3 года назад
Hmm, I’m not sure. Possibly to ground out to stop the boot, but the holding of the reset button does the same thing I think! It certainly worked for me and has done on quite a few of these devices.
@ericc1214
@ericc1214 3 года назад
@@HomeSight I think the modification that pinky wafer is doing has it using ESP home instead of tasmota. And I think ESP home is using a different set of outputs to trigger the transmitter and receiver. I like the direct integration of ESP home with home assistant instead of having to use mqtt

Thanks, how do I switch off the sonoff bridge without powering down? It is working as an alarm that cannot be put off which is a pain, when I am home or has to keep going off because I am there, unplugging the unit doesn't sound right, what should I do

I’m not sure I fully understand, are you suggesting you want to use it as an alarm? I assumed you had an input I.e. door contact which you are using to set off an alarm. Is that right?

@Underlyingglitch Idk what is happening I've posted the reply twice and it is getting deleted. Well I hope u see this: I've managed to make it work! Ive received the FT232R module and at firtst it did not work. I had to manually install the windows drivers. Then it showed the same behavior of my other USB to TTL converter (HW-597) it was stuck on connecting, alternating from ... to ____. Then I was exploring the driver settings on windows device manager and I noticed that by default it was set to 9600 bps and flux control to "none". I changed it to 115200 and flux control to hardware and it worked!. I wonder if my other USB to TTL is fine and the problem was that configuration. Well I won't test now because I've already tasmotized my rf bridge

Mine isn’t dead, if I flip the switch back to normal position it still works with the ewelink software as if nothing changed. I can’t get it to connect to the pc. At first I made the mistake to connect TX to TX and RX to RX, but after switching that it still won’t work. It’s stuck at Connecting….

@@felipevfontes Good to know I’m not the only one. All I read online were success stories, so I kinda felt like an idiot. I noticed I wasn’t using the same serial interface as the one shown in the video. I ordered the exact same model, so hopefully that will help me to flash the device. I’ll keep you posted but it takes a few days to ship. In case I forget, be sure to remind me!
