In this video, the “Wizard of Wood” takes you through a lengthy process that will insure you next exterior deck and wood surface project is completed successfully. Using test spots will show us on a small scale if our solution will create the optimal result. It will help us decide how to adjust our deck and wood cleaner and strippers by making our dilution rate stronger or weaker. It will also help us adjust the dwell time needed for our solution to work correctly. There are a lot of variables and Everett Abrams takes you through this process in detail. There is nothing worse than completing this work only to be disappointed in the results. This video will help you successfully restore you deck and wood surfaces. #decks #wood #howto #deckstaining #deckcleaning #wizardofwood #everettabrams #pressurewashing #powerwashing #deck #logcabins #restoration #restore #deck

@@billsullivan8812depending on which Thompsons product we have two different strippers we use. If it is one of their more opaque products we have solvent based product, DRP Stripper Plus. If it is their sealer, which grays quickly but is still on the wood and does not strip easily, we have our Deck Restoration Plus Stripper. This has potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, and butyl in it. This combination works well with a decent dwell time. It pretty much laughs at sodium hydroxide only or products that don’t have more in the product. I feel your pain, this is the one that gets a lot of contractors and homeowners. It looks gray and you think it is worn off until you start cleaning it and the water just heads up. This is because it does leave a residue and coating behind even though the UV has broken down.

where can i get info on doing a maintenance cleaning on log home Sikkens Proluxe coating ? medium algae growth
@wizardofwood
@wizardofwood 26 дней назад
The real answer is to follow the recommendation by Proluxe on recoating and maintenance. The biggest issue here is that most people do not follow the program (manufacturer’s recommendations) and then this starts the issues. Sikkens/Proluxe is one of the most difficult coatings for homeowners and even contractors to remove if maintenance is not followed. A light cleaning to remove organic growth and recoating with the same product is usually how maintenance is done. If the coating is too far gone or oxidized significantly, then you would need to strip, sand as necessary, perhaps Osborn Brush, and then recoat. Great product when applied and maintained correctly. Holds up well!
