I believe the option you demonstrated is Mac-only, not Windows. The workaround I use is to "pre-open" the version of Photoshop I want to invoke from Lightroom and then ctrl-e from Lightroom.

I noticed the same thing with Windows. After installing beta when I double-click a PSD file from Windows Explorer, or try to edit from Lightroom, it automatically loads beta (no choice available). Like you, I discovered that if I have ‘regular’ PS running, then Lightroom will load the edit in the running PS version, not beta.

I have followed the steps outlined in this video. I have downloaded beta version of Photoshop. I go to Lightroom Preferences. I have Photoshop 2023 running. I right click on image and select 'Edit in Photoshop.' No choices. Just PS 2023. I cannot make your way of opening in beta work.

That change instruction for the Beta Version was really so helpful . Never came up when "Edit In ". Now I know why and how to fix. Thanks for posting and including this information.

Even though I have downloaded the Beta version, LightroomCC doesn't show it as a choice under preferences.

Seems all online tutorials are for apple version only :-) nobody uses windows anymore? :-) i appreciate all the tutorials, do not mistake me for being rude, but here i am reading "around" how to add beta version to my windows Lightroom classic. LR does not recognize the beta version, ergo, I cannot open beta in LR. I cannot send my picture from LR to PS Beta. Sadly Anthony is not responding to any posts. I will then move on to the the YT person to seek help.

This just doesnt work on my system!. I went into Preferences and went to External Editor, BUT I only have one option there and thats to Edit in Photoshop 2023. But here`s the odd thing, I have both PS and PS Beta versions installed on my PC, now if I right click and go Edit in Photoshop 2023 it actually opens up in the Beta version of PS! There it just seems to jam up when I try to do anything. And so now it looks like I`m going to have to remove the Beta version of PS off my PC just to get PS working correctly again!!!!!!!!!

HI Anthony thanks so much for this video. Do you have any idea why my photos wouldn't be opening in PS from LR? This issue just started out of nowhere last week. I cant figure it out for the life of me! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have PS Beta as an option under edit, preferences, or external editing on Windows. Just the regular PS CC. I can use ctrl E if I have PS Beta open. I guess that's good enough but is there a workaround so I don't have to keep PS Beta open all the time?

Are Adaptive presets in LR Classic the same as Recommended and Premium presets in Camera RAW? If not, is it possible to use Recommended and Premium presets in LR Classic.

My Preference does not have either 2013 or the Beta version as a pull down menu option, but only "Photoshop 2024". When I try to launch Photoshop from Lightroom then Beta version launches, but the photo file does not open up in Photoshop. Hmmm

All I do is use Photoshop Beta as a plug-in and I've never made any changes in my preferences. Out of curiosity, I went to my preferences, third tab, and I didn't even have the option. And yet, here I am using the "beta" version as a plug-in. It just gives me the one option of Photoshop 2023 that opens in the Beta version.

Same with me, there's no mention of Beta but that's what automatically opens.

Anthony, there is a way to open PS 2023 from Lightroom even when you have PS Beta setup as your external editor. Just be sure you have the non beta version open and running. Then when you hit CMD E ( or Edit in), PS will notify you, you are opening in PS 2023 instead of Beta. As long as PS2023 is open, Lightroom will chose that version instead of the Beta as listed external editing in settings. Love your work…couldn’t survive without all your help and insights.

I have a Windows 11 PC and as stated by others I do not have the option to change the Photoshop to the Beta version in preferences. However, if I right click in Lightroom and edit in photoshop it uses the Bata version. So this gives one a choice without changing preferences.

I can't find the Beta version on my Mac mini Anthony. Apparently, a lot of people are having the same problem. Any workarounds? Other ideas? Is this a Mac Mini issue? Perhaps a Scratch Disc issue?

I can't get the original one to open. It says PS 2023 but the beta comes up every time.. Windows 10 on two computers. If I pre-open PS 2023, then it will load in that version. Weird

Update...I watched another video on this subject. I opened the Creative Cloud app on my desktop, then went to Beta Apps and opened PS Beta there. I still can't get it to open as a Plugin, but at least I found it. Ongoing.....

After installing the PS Beta on my Windows PC, when I have LR open (and not PS open) I do an “Edit In” as usual and PS 2023 is a menu choice. When I select that option PS Beta opens.
