Handi Quilter machines come with a convenient bobbin winder to pre-wind your bobbins. Studio Educator Vicki Hoth shows how to properly setup and use the HQ bobbin winder.
Your RU-vid helped me troubleshoot a problem I was having with my bobbin winder. The bobbin was stationary and the machine spindle was turning without moving the bobbin. I did as you said - took a screw driver and ever so gently pried them apart and IT WORKED ! KUDOS to you and thanks for mentioning that in your RU-vid ! I’m in business ! It was the first tie I’d used it ! Thanks so much !
I was having a problem with winding Glide bobbins: the thread constantly popped out of the tension disks. So I wound the thread once around the loop of the thread mast (just a bit of extra tension) and then adjusted both the guide loop position and the main tension - and wound at #2 speed - slower, but it worked much better. With the auto shut off, I can set it up, clip the thread end, and then walk away and let the bobbin winder do its job. Worked great.
I have been having the same issue and it drives me crazy! I have just been putting my finger to the left of the tension disk, and it keeps it tight enough to keep it from wiggling out.
Just got a new HQ Amara and could not get the bobbin winder to work. I had the same problem with the tension disks. I tried your solution and it worked like a charm. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I don’t know you, but I love you! Spent hours trying to figure out what I was doing wrong because I was having the same problem with glide thread. Tried your trick and it worked! Thank you so much !
@@angeculler so glad people comment on here even years after the fact, as I have been having same issue and didn't realize I was also using glide thread and tried the trick and hope it keeps working. Was ready to go into dealer and it now saved me a trip. Love these help videos!
I set the tension on my sweet 16 higher for a fine thread, but when you wind the bobbin, your saying set the tension on the winder lower for a fine thread. I'm having trouble winding Bottom line.
Can this machine wind a 17mm bobbin. I have gotten several bobbin winding machines but none seam to fit the smaller hole of the 17mm bobbin. Can this machine adjust to this size of bobbin?
Ruth, if you wind a bobbin and the thread has been stretched by having the tension too tight it can the center post to colapse and make the sides of the bobbin warp so they are no longer flat. When this happens the bobbin will not work properly in the bobbin case and so you will need to replace it.
