Final Cut Pro X has some great color grading tools built right into the software. In this tutorial, we will be taking a look at the Hue & Saturation curves feature to change the color of a car. It's super simple, and can be so incredibly powerful for enhancing your videos! Also there will be additional tips and tricks along the way.

Nice work Dylan. Excellent demonstration of some of the great colour grading tools in Final Cut Pro X. Hope to catch some more of your tutorials - I saw this one in a link posted on "I Honestly Love FCPX".

Sorry, it was your tutorial on adjustment layers that I saw on the "I Honestly Love FCPX" Facebook page, which lead me to this one here on colour grading.

Great tutorial! Though I've known about the Hue/Sat controls, I never would have thought I could add additional masks to modify the shape. You must have learned your craft from a certified genius!

Awesome tutorial. Super easy to grasp and straight forward with the info. I’d love to see a tutorial on creating /editing custom effects or transitions in Motion to add to Final Cut

Unfortunately technology hasn’t progressed far enough to pull that one off. Only someone with an Avengers budget could do that. But maybe a few years down the road.

I just found your channel and gonna watch all of these. I really want to master FCP. What editing laptop/computer do you recommend for nice FCP workflow these days? I shoot mainly 10 bit 4k footage in 4.22 with some titles, transitions and color correction (and grading).

Idea: In this tutorial (amazing by the way) you spent almost all of the time on the top and top right of the screen recording. Zooming in would make it easier to follow along on a iPad or smaller screen. Just a thought for future videos you make. Question about the tire part. The original had a pink Color and you changed it to blue. The masking we did at the end with the tires… what was the result we were going for? I didn’t see a difference in your clip or mine. So I changed it to “subtract” just to see how we could play with them.

Ah yes, haha this is my first ever tutorial on the channel. The ol’ Final Cut Bro had much to learn 😂 As far as for the wheel, it’s been a while since I made this tutorial. I believe the reason was because the wheel was reflecting the color of the car, so I wanted to shift the color of the reflection to look the same as the car. Changing it to subtract will just essentially remove the mask in an given area, so you can make the masks much more complex if needed. Appreciate you watching! 👊

I'm watching on my phone and I know this was your first vid so it may no longer be applicable. Just in case though, I'm wondering if you could minimize the media and event columns to the left, and pull the timeline down slightly, so the footage is bigger and more centred and I could see what's going on, haha. Please and thank you! 🙏🏼

Better yet can you actually crop to the area you're working on along with the control panels? That way I can see the controls as well. :p

Appreciate the feedback! This video was definitely a first haha! Since then I’ve implemented all the things you suggested. It’s just taken some learning of what works for tutorials. Thank you so much for watching, and again, your feedback is huge! I am always wanting to up the quality of my tutorials. Thank you!
