@@whitesnow8370 Hmm...I'm not sure if Glycolic Acid can help you with this concern...You may want to look for a Salicylic Acid/BHA Leave-On Exfoliant instead :)
@@whitesnow8370 I'm not a 100% sure...it can exfoliate the skin but I'm not sure that it can make your pores smaller...BHA (Salicylic Acid) can unclog the pores and Niacinamide can minimize the pores and regulates the oil production and even Retinol can help with that as well. You can try it with Glycolic Acid and see if it works or not! :)
Short yet very informative. I just started tonight my first application. My skin is sensitive-oily-clogged pore. Living in a tropical country and we currently have a very unpredictable weather right now. Thankfully, founded a seller here in our country offering various products in decant. At least it won't be a waste of money if buying the whole thing if the product does not worked. Anyway, subscribing here 🙋❤️
Glad it was helpful!🥰 Also, have a look at this video here: How Many Times A Week Should You Exfoliate: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aTTM9xPwCjk.html
I applied a patch test and was alright, but when I applied my next step (hyaluronic acid 2%) it irritated one specific spot on my face. I realized after 30 seconds of burning that perhaps i used too much acid. Luckily it wasnt too bad, and with some vitamin E and cocoa butter it cleared up after about an hour or so. This video was very informative on other products i shouldnt use 😂
I transfer the toner to a clear spray bottle because I think it’s less messy and reduce tugging on the skin from the cotton pads. Super fast and quick application too.
This is the only toner that doesn’t burn my skin. RoC products BUUUURRRNNN my skin.. idk what it is in there products but it literally makes me peel so much so I couldn’t even put lotion on because I was so burnt! Happy to find this product and works nicely with my skin
Hey :) I'm happy to hear that TO Glycolic Acid works well for you! Hopefully your skin has recovered from what you used to use and feels now much better :)
I have just recently started with The Ordinary products, and for every new product I buy I watch your videos before using it. Thank you for guiding me. Xxx
i love your channel! i recently bought a lot of products from the ordinary and your videos are very helpful. i also really appreciate how you reply to almost every comment!
Oops! I’ve been using the glycolic acid with the buffet in the morning routine, fortunately my skin is not sensitive but from now on I am gonna use the peptide in the morning and the glycolic in the evening
Thank you so much for this informative video! I really learned a lot from it! I recently just bought the Ordinary Glycolic acid 7% toning solution but I have no idea how to include it into my routine. So far, my routine is the Cerave renewing sa cleanser, an exfoliator from Paula’s Choice 2% bha liquid exfoliant, then the Ordinary’s niacinamide serum, a Bliss drench & quench moisturizer, and unseen sunscreen from Supergoop. The night routine would be a replacement of the sunscreen with a cleansing balm. My question is how I can put the Ordinary Glycolic acid into my routine.
Hey! I recommend watching the videos below: How to use The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution in a Skincare Routine: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NE3j3LPcaGE.html Order of Application And Layering For Skincare with Infographics, Waiting Times and Example Routines: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ADWu7oSBLFc.html This should help you to come up with a routine and what you should avoid. I'm happy to check your routine later on😊
Hi! i just got some of my first products from The Ordinary atm the routine i’ve settled on is : AM - Cleanse, Ascorbyl glucoside, niacinamide and then moisturise. PM- is same thing but with a glycolic acid toner and then the peeling solution once a week. My question is how long I need to wait between each product for maximum results, thank youuu :)
I read that if using glycolic acid toner, you should wait half an hour before applying niacinamide. I was searching to see if I could use retinoid after glycolic acid and the article about g.acid and niacinamide popped up.
Thank you for you amazing video! You’re really helping me understand this! So can I use the Glycolic Acid 7% Toning solution on Wednesday for example in the evening then use Azelaic Acid on Thursday in the evening ? Or do I have to pick one of them to use in my skincare routine ?
I didnt even think about conflicts. I just did the peeling solution, and I washed it off and put on the glycolic toner just now. So I’m praying I’ll be fine…. Its 11:00pm rn so we shall see, only thought about using multiple products after i did it 😬
Hi, great video as always 😊 I'm using niacinamide and alpha arbutin for hiperpigmentation and I'm very satisfied with it. Now, I want to use something for acne scars, is glycolic acid good choice or I should try something else? Thank you
What do you mean by that? First, you do a patch test to figure out if you are sensitive to the product. It can happen with any product, even with the safest and most tested on the market, since every skin is different.
Im currently in my fourth day using the ordinary glycolic acid The ordinary niacinamide The ordinary alpha arbutin But im having my break out right now. Its itchy on the chin area
Thank you for your tips! Questions if you can help - I was told to purchase The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% and The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA. So I did. But from what I understood in this video, I should NOT use these 2 products together. Should I keep both - use the gylcolic acid 2 - 3x a week and then the day I'm not using glycolic I can use the Lactic Acid instead? Should I return one of them? What way would you recommend using these two products if I should keep them both?
Hm, where did you buy these products? Because both are AHA's and have similar effects on the skin. If you use them together, you will use 17% of AHA's together, and when doing that more often, it will lead to over-exfoliation, and you can burn your skin. That's very strong. How often you can use them depends on your personal tolerance for these products. However, I recommend starting with one and see how that goes. Use it 2-3 times a week and see what happens, and based on that, adjust it. But do not overdo it. ;)
My skin is purging, like it's not the the regular breaking out I've had. But my skin is drastically purging and growing acne scars with use of the ordinary glycolic acid toner should i continue the use?

Hello! I’ve been using these products for like 2-3 months now and i still have no clue if i’m doing it in the right order... MORNING: CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser Clindamycin Phosphate And Benzoyl Peroxide(gel) The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid The Ordinary Niacinamide CeraVe Hydrating Sunscreen CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion NIGHT: CeraVe foaming cleanser The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid The Ordinary Niacinamide The Ordinary. AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution(Once A Week) CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion This is the order that i’m using all my products right now.
Well yes looks about right, only sunscreen this is always the last step in your routine. MORNING: CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser Clindamycin Phosphate And Benzoyl Peroxide(gel) The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid The Ordinary Niacinamide CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion CeraVe Hydrating Sunscreen NIGHT: CeraVe foaming cleanser The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid The Ordinary Niacinamide CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion NIGHT1 (once a week): The Ordinary. AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution(Once A Week) The Ordinary Niacinamide CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion What are your results 🤔?
Okay so I used the glycolic acid and lactic and niacinamide together HAHAH and it kind of burned, and something started peeling off, idk if it’s my skin or the products combined HELP
Please do not use Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid in the same routine, especially if you are new to acids😅 Use them at alternate times and then you can use Niacinamide afterwards, like so: PM Routine: - Cleanse - Glycolic Acid - Niacinamide - (Optional) Moisturiser or PM Routine: - Cleanse - Lactic Acid - Niacinamide - (Optional) Moisturiser You can use those acids daily, however, if you're new to them, start with 2-3 times per week so that your skin has time to adjust to the products before using it daily😊
I’m not sure if you’ll read this, but on the days that we aren’t supposed to use the toner, what should I do?? Just skip to the next step? (which is serum) or find a replacement toner? a new step? I feel weird not using toner everyday’ TIA 💘
Hello 😀 You can use it on a daily base, but slowly incorporate it into your routine. I am just telling people this so that they don't overdo it, and it can be quite harsh in the beginning! Example: 1 week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2 week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 3 week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 4 week.... Until your skin has adjusted to the product, and yes, you will skip it, only apply the other products. Most people can exfoliate once a day, but I wouldn't recommend it when starting... Hope this makes sense ;)
After using the cleanser and washing my face, should I apply the toner when my skin is completely dry or still damp? Also, I've been using it for 2 days straight so far (never used an acid on my face before) and there's been no reaction, burning, tingling etc. Is it safe for me to use everyday or should I stick with 3 times a week? Thank you very much!
How often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. Some people do well exfoliating with AHA or BHA twice a day, whereas others find that once a day or every other day is a perfect balance. Test to see what works best for your skin. In this video I am showing an in-depth application: How To Use The Ordinary Glycolic Acid, Niacinamide, and Alpha Arbutin | Full Demonstration on Face: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NhrnLb3imYk.html
Hey! :) Thank you! So, if you apply the Exfoliating Acid Toner in the evening, leave it on the skin for the entire night and 'wash it off' the next morning.
Thank you, this was such a great explanation! I am looking to clear whiteheads and some occasional acne. Can I use my tea tree wash scrub followed by glycolic acid toner, ordinary retinol, good molecules super peptide serum and finally oil-free moisturizer of my choice at night? Thanks dear!
I do not recommend using them all at once...this may be too drying or strong for your skin... Keep Glycolic Acid and Retinol in separate routines...alternate between them to avoid skin irritation :)
I am.using this toner on my hands nuckle frst 2 days i saw some difference but bow again it will be more dark i used mostly night And wash after morning
depends on your overall skin tolerance. But yes, an 18-year-old person can use it. Start by using it 2-3 times per week in your evening skincare routine.
Hi there! I'm using 1% Retinol and 7% Glycolic Acid in the same routine 3 nights a week. My skin has zero issues with this combo. Do they cancel each other out? Or is it discouraged in the same routine because it can be harsh?
Hey! :) Do you use The Ordinary 1% Retinol? For how long have you been using them in the same routine? This can work since you are not using them daily. So, if it works for you, keep going. However, for some people, using them in the same routine or too often during the week can lead to irritation. Therefore it's important to start slowly and adjust the frequency over time to see what the skin can tolerate.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDietWow, thank you for your response! 🙂 I do use the Ordinary 1% Retinol! That's good to hear, I didn't realize it wasn't recommended. My regular routine is very gentle, basic and nourishing to give my skin the best environment the majority of the time to bounce back. Do you have Patreon?
1) How do I introduce this product in my routine as I’m using Vit C suspension every night? 2) Do I still need to apply sunscreen in morning if I’m using this product only at night time?
Hey! :) Alternate between The Ordinary Glycolic Acid and Vitamin C Suspension in your evening skincare routine. Yes, if you have sun exposure during the day, the application of your sunscreen is important :)
Hi this video was really helpful! I had a question though, so after I apply this glycolic acid toning solution, how long would I have to wait before I can use my cerave moisturizer? Can I use it immediately afterward or should I wait for about 30 minutes-ish?
Hey! :) Well, it primarily depends on your skin concerns! :) Have a look at the videos below: How to Build a Skincare Routine and What Products Do I Need?: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8gLrr2wbi_8.html How to use The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution in a Skincare Routine: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NE3j3LPcaGE.html
Hi, Melissa! 💗 Thank you for such an informative video! 💓 I was wondering if I could use this toner along with another one that I use. So, for example, Monday, Wednesday and Friday I would use the Oréal Paris toner that I already have (along with the Ordinary skincare routine (nianicimide, azelaic acid and AHA and BHA acid). And, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and/or Sunday use the Ordinary one (in the evenings, but only cleansing my face and moisturizing my face afterwards). Is that okay? Hopefully, it is 😭 Thank you in advance, girl! 💗
Hello again, 😀 do you have the following toner "HydraFresh face toner by L'Oréal Paris"? If so, yes, you can do that. That one does not include any exfoliating acids. The order would be like this: Cleanser Loreal Toner Niacinamide Mandelic Acid Azelaic Acid You do not have to use them all at once, but that's just the correct order of application. ;) You need to adjust it and feel that it is too much to reduce it and alternate the products according to your skin needs! :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Hi, Melissa! 💗 I am using the Fine Flowers Cleansing Toner by L’Oréal Paris. I just checked and this one does not have exfoliating acids either, so I guess I am good haha. Also, thank you for being so helpful! I really appreciate it! You are helping me a ton! ❤️
HEY:) I have a question, I like to apply my products on wet skin and so I was considering applying this Glycolic acid on wet skin. Is that okay? Or does that weaken the product? Also, I _ALWAYS_ use The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid serum on a wet face - so my question is, how long should I wait before applying Hyaluronic acid on my face after applying the Glycolic acid, providing that I always have to have a wet face before applying my Hyaluronic acid?
Well, there is no need to apply the Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid (and some other brands that have a Hyaluronic Acid serum as well) on wet skin, I've also made a specific video about it which you can check out: The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid on Damp Skin and Dry Climate | What You Need to know!: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8cnHmj-9pl8.html Your question about the Glycolic Acid application, I'm not sure about, but it's a great question and I'll look into it!😊
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you very much for your reply ❤ I have tried to research this question on Glycolic acid, however I have been unsuccessful. If you do find out anything, please let me know. With regards to the Hyaluronic acid, I was under the impression that wet skin is prerequisite in order to achieve maximum hydration. I was led to believe that applying HA on dry skin, will cause the HA to take the water from the deeper layers of the skin in order to hydrate the surface layers. I will most definitely watch your video.
it’s actually worst. it doesn’t really dilute it. that’s a common misconception. water is a penetration enhancer. if you apply it onto wet skin, the water drives the glycolic acid faster and deeper into the skin, increasing the risk of irritation and itchiness. same with a retinoid, like tretinoin. if you apply that on wet skin, the irritation risk increases.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I actually used this toner ever night for a month - I applied it on its own - no moisturizer or anything, in order to allow for maximum efficacy. The results were shocking - bright, soft skin and no dryness nor irritation at all.
You can use it every evening daily but this also depends on your skin! I would recommend using it 2-3 per week to start off and then if your skin has no problems with it, go ahead and use it daily :)
I have dry sensitive skin on cheeks. When i apply this ,i get rash or burn like after applying bleach for lightening facial hair. How could i reduce this sensitivity to glycolic acid solution?
You can't. If you are sensitive to Glycolic Acid, there isn't really much you can do, and it is often an issue that people have, and so do I if I use it too often. Therefore I use Mandelic Acid or Salicylic Acid.
How to check if the product is aunthentic? I got a Korean version of the product, does it really have a Korean version? Also, it has a smell and it's color is yellowish. Lookong forward to hearing from you soon.
Yes, it looks lighter because I'm red along my nose. It's like a flush; it comes and goes. Whenever I'm using products that are too harsh for my skin, the redness becomes more intense.
Hi melisa am having acne pimples and dark spot, please how can i layer my routine with hyaronic peeling ,niacinamaid, retinol, glycolic acid, vitamin c,Aha Bha.
This video was very helpful and very nicely done!! But are you supposed to mosturize your skin directly afterwards? And if yes, does it matter what kind of mosturizer?
Hey :) No, there is no need to moisturize afterwards. However, if you do, make sure that it is not an exfoliating acid moisturizer, they are rare but still exist. So avoid AHA(Glycolic, Lactic Acid) or BHA (Salicylic Acid) moisturizers. And yes, you can use it right after. Generally no. Because it may lead to so-called over-exfoliation, so if you want to use them, use them at alternate times. You could use Glycolic Acid and Azelaic Acid together, but if you have sensitive skin, it may lead to irritation. And generally, the more often you use such combinations, the more likely you will experience irritation; at some point, it may take a few weeks, but then it starts to hurt. So best to use them on different days. Or just use the one you like most.
I know that some people are doing this. However, I think that this area is very sensitive, so my advice would be to be very careful. I personally do not use it in sensitive areas.

Glycolic acid can help with Keratosis Pilaris. However, for the bikini area, start with a low concentration (2-5%) and patch test first. Use 1-2 times a week, and you might see results in a few weeks.
is this product good to brighten skin tone and fix uneven skin tone ? do i need to apply sunscreen in the morning even if i apply this product in the evening and leave it overnight? can i just use this product alone?
Yes, it's an exfoliating acid that will help to improve your skin tone. But it all depends on the severeness of your skin condition. So let's say you have "big" bumps or actually acne physical scarring; it will not help much; it can only smoothen it so that it feels better. But if you have dark spots and pigmentation on the skin surface and flaky skin or generally a build-up of dead skin cells, it will make a huge difference when using it! And yes, sunscreen is essential even the next day because of the way how it works. It removes the dead skin cells so that the new skin cells underneath will come through, and they are more sensitive to the sun. So, therefore, you should use sun protection when being exposed to the sun. I mean, if you are the entire day at home and you do not sit in front of the window where the sun is shining through, it will not matter much ;) So you need to adjust it when doing it.
