How to use the Rolled Hem foot (Janome foot D)

This short video explains how to make a rolled hem using the rolled hem foot. A Janome foot is shown, but this technique will work on any machine with a similar foot. 20 videos later and I finally find this one. No intro, right to the facts, clear voice, and easy to understand instructions. Every thing I needed all in a 1.5 minute long video. If only all how-to videos were this well made!

Some people really know how to teach👍😎 Can't lie though, having just tried it it's difficult. I ended up just trying random wreckless ways to get it to work. Gonna take a lot of practice 😂

THANK YOU! I offered to hem a dress for a friend's daughter. I did not realized it was a satin skirt with a gauzy overlay. I knew I had to use this foot. The instruction manual called for ironing the fabric but this would not work for a nylon fabric

I'm happy I found the exact rolled hem foot I have. I tried it out first by using the information from a general rolled hem foot instruction video, having no idea how wide the finished hem would be. It does a really neat job, but I wanted the rolled hem to be 5mm instead, so I'm going to order one that does that instead.

Thank you for sharing. I have been trying to use this foot but hopeless. Also, i am wondering when i did thos, the edge of the fabric is a little bit out of the folding line, it is not inside the folding line as it should be...🤔🤔🤔 thanks for your help

Is it the same tot start when you are sewing in the round?? Typically, for a bias cut flowy skirt, you make it first, let it hang then do even marking parallel to the floor and only then start to hem. It will be in the round.

Do they have a foot that rolls it for you? I see tons out there but I am not sure if Janome has one.

This is the foot that rolls it for you, most machines have a generic snap on foot. I have a necchi q411a and I realised that a £2.80 eBay generic narrow rolled hem foot will fit. 😎👍

thing is your foot is doing the 'second roll' for you. mine doesn't seem to want to. it might for a while and then it will lose it and there'll be no second roll or it will even roll it the wrong way so that instead of tucked under the edge of the cloth is exposed on the top!

Make sure to feed the fabric in at an angle, it looks counter intuitive, normally you hold things straight whilst sewing but this foot relies on being fed correctly 👍😎
