In this example we'll walk through one of the sections of tutorial 4-5 in which we join neighborhoods to crime offenses. We'll want to pay special attention to the merge rule we use, which if we do correctly, will give us both a count of crime offenses falling within our neighborhoods as well as the neighborhood's name.

How can I make a table where each crime is listed in the table, and a new field indicates the neighborhood the crime occurred in? I have a project where I have a huge data set of addresses, and a group of polygons for - let's call them "districts". I need to find which addresses are completely within any of the districts - and - most important - which district the are in. Thank you!

how did you get the output to a polygon layer? I have a geocoded point layer that I am trying to spatially join to county tax lot info to make polygons

I'm trying to do the reverse. let's say trying to get each crime listed with the county it occurred in.

You should be able to find a county shapefile online for your area of interest and then run a spatial join but using the county layer instead of the neighborhood area. All those points will still fall within a county so it will collect them as a whole in your county shapefile. So basically you're doing exactly the same thing as in this tutorial but using a county shapefile instead. Hopefully that makes sense and helped!
