Is there an easier way to transition between automatic and manual? I own a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with the same kind of transmission, but I only figured out how to get it in manual by one hit downshift, but to get it back into automatic, I would have to go all the way to 6th to put it back into automatic as I’m driving. Is that how you do it? Or is there a different way?

If my Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 2007 by the way, has a transfer case but nothing showing it's a four-wheel drive inside or outside the vehicle, how does this work

Praise Yeshua! aka-Jesus the Christ Our Prayer was answered!!! It worked just fine on the way home. And after getting home I looking it up on RU-vid. I learned something about my car I did not know. Wow after all these years. I was told and thought the + Plus just bumped it into over-drive all this time. Video told me there is more to it than that. It was noy stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear as I thought --- I just had to bump it to the plus side 2 more times to get it into D for Drive so it would automatic shift at the preset speeds. It is A-OK …...Gosh..... stupid me I did not know this until today. So the Lord used You tube and taught me something new today. Thanks Jason

Abel would it go back to the gear that you need to be into what is the plus and minus mean if you accidentally tap it in the minus would it stay in that gear you ruin your car that way how do you know what gear does it say on the dash I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee don't have an owner's manual

How does this effect towing while going up a hill. Seems like it would be ideal, just wondering on the effect on the transmission under load. Thanks.

Always check your RPM when down gearing that way you are not forcing the engine to bad. I like to drive my jeep in 4 gear when not going to fast, dawn hills or up hills I play with gears and its fun. highways always in full drive.. Not really sure but I think it saves gas when driving it in 4 gear, local driving...

I have a 07 Jeep Commander Overland with the 5.7 Hemi. I can't figure out 4th gear to save my life. It seems like it loves to go from 3rd to 4th at highER RPM. I am talking about pretty close to redline. If I do that then its pretty smooth shifting. If I don't then its completely different shifting. I just don't understand it… So far it hasn't effected anything.

If you have a tip tronic transmission and know how to up shift and down shift gears you won't mess up the tranny but if you just have a regular transmission you can't be playing with gears while driving or you will break the clutches inside the tranny for any of the gears ...

If this jeep has 5 speed auto why i can't reach the 5th speed when i use the spteptronic mode?? The max speed i can reach is 4!

The max is 190 kilometer/h. Do you on 4WD mode on dashboard ? (4x4 mode limit the speed at 70km/h It’s probably activated). Look at the dashboard and tell me if you see a 4WD light.

Put in N and pull the trigger N (next to the trigger 4WD) wait 1-2 seconds and put D and it's good :) for normal : gearbox N> button N> D for 4x4 mode: gearbox N> 4WD> D

Thanks Jason for the help. I had never heard of such a thing until I bought my 2017 Wrangler and the salesman showed it to me when I asked him how do you start down a steep grade when you are off road. I had 3 other Jeeps, one auto & 2 manual so I knew you had to have something to slow you down. I thought back to some of the trails I had been on in Co. and thought "no way" would I start down them in auto OD. You did good on rehash. Thanks!

Manually shifting through the gears all the time will destroy your transmission. Don't use this unless you need to

I have two wk grand cherokees with a 5.7 and in my experience it doesn’t change gears it merely sets the highest/lowest gear it will shift into. Great for icy driveways but not much else

Gavin Ford no its like a normal auto you can just select which gear your in or drop a gear/downshift to slow down. Think of it like using 1 2 and 3 on a column shifter or normal car shifter except its more built to be switched back and forth

ala ska sounds like a computer issue or transmission module going bad. Itll be a couple hundred dollar fix either way

Is there a way to make it so you could change gears at any time and the tiptronic wont change the gear for you? My car has a tiptronic. When the car is stopped I cant change the gear up. When going from 1st to 2nd gear, it changes the gear automatically. I want want that. In a real stick shift I could change to any gear at any time. Even if it damages my engine, I still would rather have the choice since I know when to change the gear.
