How do you set up how much brake force is applied in automatic mode without locking up the trailer tires?
@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics 5 лет назад
Hello, and thank you for your message. You can adjust the braking force until it feels as if you are braking without a trailer. This means you should increase the level of force to a point that it does not feel like you are braking harder than normal to slow down the trailer, and so that you are not letting the trailer pull the vehicle up. For further assistance please be sure to contact our Tech Support Team on 08 8322 4848 or via email at power@redarc.com.au

I have Redarc and it does job beautifully, just asking to make sure I am correct. I am in auto mode and caravan starts to sway, I then push the the knob down to brake the van?
@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics Год назад
Thanks for watching! Yes, pressing the knob will brake the caravan without applying vehicle brakes to correct caravan sway.

Quick question regarding hill decent in my Ford Ranger. While descending off road using hill decent control (vehicle brake lights come on) will the trailer brakes be activated? I’m assuming if so manual mode would be best in this situation. Thanks
@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics 4 месяца назад
Hi, and thanks for your question. When the Hill Descent function is activated, do the trailer brake lights activate as well? If they do, then yes the TowPro will likely trigger and output to the trailer brakes as they are activated off the brake lamp feed to the trailer socket normally. Manual/Offroad mode would be better in this situation indeed, especially if its rocky/loose surface too. If the trailer brake lamps do not come on, you’d need to press the manual override/sway-stop button on the remote head to activate the trailer brakes instead.

Great Story and Music. Why does my vehicle plug for current electric brake controller and current brake controller have 5 wires and the red arc only have 4?? The more I familiarize myself with the red arc electric brake controller the more I believe that it is an unnecessary non improvement to electrical brake controllers that has more points of possible failure that aren’t worth the price tag, not seeing traditional controller under the steering wheel or the new lack of confidence I have in my electric brakes functioning properly which I never had before. I have electric brake controllers on my entire fleet of trucks of all different brands dating back to the 1980s and they all work perfectly to this day pulling 10-16,000lb trailers with 1 ton and 3/4 ton trucks on roads, fields, hills, grass and sand whether driving, putting on location, leveling or maneuvering thru crowded events. Your “improvements” and 2yr warranty shouldn’t make anyone feel any confidence at all with the product unless they’ve never had or heard of electric trailer brake controllers before. Please change my mind, beginning with available technical support people during regular hours in the countries and time zones you sell your products, or have better information available leaving less questions for customers. I think the price tag warrants this. I’ve never had to splice wires, buy an extra pigtail adapter for vehicle, paid this much, had so much doubt, taken more than an hour to install, not been able to find answers nor had so many questions with any of the 20+ electric brake controllers I’ve previously installed in vehicles. Standing By.

@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics 5 лет назад
Hi Aaron, The LED on the Tow Pro remote head should only be illuminated when a trailer is attached or when the button is pushed. If the LED is constantly on, there may be a wiring fault. In this case, we would ask you to call our Help Desk on 08 8322 4848 and speak to one of our Auto Electricians.

What setting do you suggest for the auto mode, when towing a 2200kg horse float? 🙏🏼
@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics 3 года назад
Thank you for your enquiry, there is no hard and fast setting to advise, whilst the weight of the trailer plays a massive factor so does the efficiency of both the trailer and vehicle brakes plus the comfort of the user. Luckily setting the Tow Pro for your trailer/vehicle combination is easy, simply start with the dial around 3-4 and see how the trailer reacts. If you are having to brake the vehicle harder to pull the trailer up increase the dial, if you go too high the trailer will feel like its pulling the vehicle to a stop, simply decrease the number. Within in a few adjustments you will find the perfect setting. As you will be pulling a horse trailer you may find you will have to decrease the dial slightly when towing without the horses onboard, once again simply set the dial where the vehicle and trailer are braking smoothly and proportionally. Our helpful Tech Support Team are available on 1300 REDARC if you'd like to discuss over the phone in greater detail.

How would the brakes work on the trailer when the vehicle automatically brakes with the vehicle built in sway control (left / right brakes)? Would the brakes on trailer engage equally left to right same as tow vehicle?
@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching! The vehicle's sway controller would work interdependently of the brake controller, unless you have a sway controller on the trailer itself and brakes will always brake evenly.

Question! I installed the Tow Pro Liberty and cannot get the manual override to work, there seems to be no button to press. I took the dial off and cannot press anything in on the remote head I can only turn lerft/right. In this video you double tap for manual mode - I have no ability to tap anything...is my remote head faulty?

Hello I have a Pro Arc on my van, took off the other day and the light on control on dash was red for quite awhile (40klm) then changed to blue, why would happen?. Thanks Peter
@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics 3 года назад
Normally when the dial is a solid red this would indicate that the brakes are being applied - either with brake signal to the unit, or with the dial depressed (override). If the LED stays red again it would be worth checking the dial is not pressed and stuck in (indicating the remote head may have suffered physical damage), and if this is okay the voltage on the RED wire at the Tow-Pro itself will need to be measured.

so this brake controller does not need to be connected to the brakes like a normal brake controller ?
@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics 5 лет назад
Hi Peter, thank you for your message. The Tow-Pro shown in the video is installed into a display board. We have "tricked" the Tow-Pro into thinking a trailer is permanently attached for display purposes. A Tow-Pro installed into a vehicle will stay in sleep mode until a trailer is attached. A trailer is required to use a Tow-Pro under normal conditions.

@@REDARCElectronics when you manually press the knob to apply only the trailer brakes such as in a sudden trailer sway condition on the highway, will it apply force proportional to the knob setting or is it independent of the knob setting and smart enough to know how much force to apply? During a sway condition, I'm not sure if there is enough time to look down at the knob setting when you rapidly have to press the knob.

@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics 4 года назад
Hi Doug, The REDARC Tow-Pro Elite is the first of its kind to offer two types of braking in the one unit. The Tow-Pro Elite electric brake controller uses both proportional and user-controlled mode, and features Active Calibration. The Tow-Pro Classic offers a single user-controlled mode of trailer braking. Simply adjust the required force your towed vehicle requires with the turn of a control knob when ever needed. It sounds a bit daunting as I haven't done it
@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics 3 года назад
Hi Steven Thank you for your enquiry. The best way to set the Tow Pro is by feeling. We suggest to start on around 3-4 and see how the van feels. If this setting is too high you will feel the van pulling the car to a stop. If the setting is too low the van will feel like it's pushing the car and you will have to brake the vehicle harder than expected. Simply dial up or down as required. Once you find the sweet spot the Tow Pro when set in the proportional mode will make adjustments depending on how hard you are braking.

how do you set the red arc on automatic mode
@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics 2 года назад
Hi William, thanks for your comment. The Tow-Pro Elite is able to change between the Proportional (Automatic - Blue) and User Control (Manual - Green) modes by following this procedure. 1) Turn the dial all the way down to zero (full anti-clockwise) 2) Put your foot on the brake pedal 3) Double press/click the remote head dial in 4) Remove foot from brake pedal. The mode should now be changed between the two colours/modes. Note: You will need a trailer plugged in when attempting to do this mode change. Any further questions please don't hesitate to contact our friendly Tech Support Team on 1300 REDARC.

@REDARCElectronics
@REDARCElectronics 2 года назад
Hi Rebecca, thanks for your comment. To change the mode of the Tow-Pro between either Proportional or User Control, the following steps need to be taken in sequence and with a trailer plugged in: Turn the remote head dial down to ‘0’, put/hold your foot on the brake pedal, double press in the remote head dial (like a computer mouse, ‘click, click’). The LED should toggle colour between Blue and Green modes after this.
