I bought my MPC one three months ago I've been watching several RU-vid video tutorials and everybody's always showing off and going fast and and but you take it nice and slow so you button for button and your tutorials have been the most helpful I don't even feel like a beginner anymore thanks man I was getting ready to give up but you got me back in the game......... like the Mandalorian said this is the way
You have a gift. You explained this to me without me feeling like an idiot. I’ll mess around and screw up some stuff now, but at least I understand what this is and how it works. I hope you’re still making videos. - Token White Guy
LETS PUT IN SOME WORK BABY! Bought one of these earlier this week- been watching all your videos trying to workaround some stuff I’m used to in a DAW and get the work flow down using just the machine. I already learned to save what I’m happy with and not resave anything unless I’m 100% happy with it. Please keep these coming!
Grateful for this. That part about assigning the XYFX to the program as opposed to it being on the 1,2 outputs had me stuck like chuck lol! Thank you Sir. Salute!
Quick tip:you don’t have to push the record and overdub button to get the automation all you need is the “write” button turned on and when finished set it back to “read” the record overdub buttons are not needed at all.
Omg! I've so many times fucked up my automation and I had no idea you could turn it off by hitting shift Thank you for that this is going to save me so much time.
This is the cleanest tutorial I've seen, and I've watched..... a lot. You didn't go too fast, you explained things clearly, didn't waste any time talking about unrelated things. Thank you, liked and subscribed.
@@WeFullTime very informative video! Excellent break down and details! Have you made videos breaking down manually inserting automation in the grid and /or step sequencer? Great work though
I been learned this & forgot the steps… Bro I salute you💯 My stubbornness and history on this machine got me thinking I know EVERYTHING but there’s ALWAYS room for growth 🤦🏽♂️ u definitely got a new subscriber
Grats vids man. Just purchased the retro mk2 and new mpc user here. Watching all your tutorials and can't wait to try that out. I was wondering how fast / often akai do firmare/software updates to solve issues/bugs found in standalone mode by the mpc community?
Man I want the retro mk2 so bad. Congrats on getting that one. To be honest I’m not sure of their turnaround time on bug fixes, but within 6 months I’ve updated 3 times. From 2.7 to 2.9.1..... definitely more frequent than Native instruments. But the best place to check is Akaipro.com
Very good Vid! Cool, I'm searching so long for this posibility in recording modus! Cause the 16 bars option is not really nice. I like your style to tell, too! Good vibes!
@@streetlife20 any updates on the best way for doing this? For instance I want to put xyfx low pass on the master on one sequence and low pass on the master in a different sequence
Hi brother! Thank you for the video tutorial. Thanks to you, I learned how to record automation of effects. I am from Russia, there are no such deep lessons on the Russian-language RU-vid. When I was recording my automation, I also found such an effect in the list of effects - touch xyfx. Could you record a video tutorial on this effect, how to work with it. Please write down, I will be very grateful. I can even donate.
Yo keep up the vids bro its helping me a lot. Do you know how the MPC live would compare to Ableton and the Push 2? Ive been thinking of using the MPC live as a sketch and finishing the songs off in Ableton for arrangement.
Software wise Ableton wins, but the MPC live in Standalone can get you 90% there. I haven’t used a traditional DAW since I got my MPC LIVE II. Ultimately it’s whatever workflow best fits your needs.
@@anthonyvu2441 They are two different platforms, I really can't compare them. It ultimately depends on your workflow style. If you like being more hands on the MPC is awesome.
Bra I can FUCKING HUG YOU .... if I ever see you just know you owe me a hug 🙏🏾🙏🏾💯💯💯💯💯 damn woe all these years and months I’ve been using this shyt I was told it can’t happen and you just open the lid bro damn 💯💯💯💯💯 like subscribed and commented brother
Could you automate the sample then save it (warp it) I'm not sure I'm getting my mpc tomorrow and chop the saved sample with automation in it on the new track sample?
Spent hours trying to figure this out last night. How the hell did you figure out the "enable" tip so that you can turn off automation for the next sequence?!? That shit is hidden! Plus you wouldn't think it'd be necessary anyway...like I applied that automation to my LAST sequence, not this one...why is it affecting this one?!?! Anyway, thanks for the info bro. I actually watched this video before I understood how to apply it and had to come back to relearn.
To record XYFX on the Main Output you have to use Looper to resample This is why Ive stayed away from XYFX The fact that you CAN record your automation if it isn't on the main outputs is NEWS to me, greatly appreciated
how would you apply the effects on all tracks? i want to put a tapestop on the whole track itself but im not sure how to record it. when i tried recording on program, the effect recorded but it just tapestopped my drums(im running vst's for my chords) and the chords have a playback with no effect. wonder what i have to do or if im doing anything wrong, any help is appreciated🙏🏻
Unfortunately you can’t automate the master channel, however you can record the effects live into another DAW or try setting up a sub group and routing all the tracks to there.
Man I cannot get my MPC one to record the automation even though I just watched your video still. I made sure that ride is on but it does not automatically place the insert in there I had to place it in there myself
Okay, I can help you with that. So basically all it does is allow you to sequence together individual sequences that you’ve created. For example, Hook, Verse, Intro can be made into a full song in song mode. That way you can export it into a digital file type (.wav* ) or converted into a sequence. But I will break it down in the next video.
@@soulscientific2685 go to “Next Sequence” mode on the main menu. If you run through a complete performance of jumping around the sequences, there is a button that says “to song” on the lower left. This will arrange a new complete song that follows the way you did the performance. This is a dope way to rock an “on-the-fly” arrangement, straight to a song.
have you figured this out? i believe it would be on output1/2 but for some reason you can hear while its being played, but it wont record. if you go to program, it only makes the effect on the program(if you are using a vst) it wont make the effect on the vst thats playing. been trying to figure this out too.
What if you have more than 1 program? I tried this and it's not applied to the whole project. Anyway around that? Also I recorded within a sequence and on the next sequence the drum kick doesn't sound and it's not muted. Have to stop the whole track and replay for the drums to come back.
