I have taken the full class on google analytics and I feel like this video sums it all up! Thank you for keeping it simple. Great tutorial, much appreciated.
i got the hang of it while reading an article online but i had to watch a video about it and its really helpful that we have youtube and useful content creators that share their knowledge online ❤
This video is so incredibly helpful! Thank you, Chris! I've known about the importance of UTM parameters for a long time and even had an idea of how to create them but at times I still felt so overwhelmed by it all. This video really makes it so simple and easy to comprehend and takes the stress out of thinking you'll do something wrong. Plus, it was great to have that review of how to find this data in Google Analytics!
This video was perfectly explained, thank you very much! My only question is how would you create a campaign? Is it automatically created once you promote UTM links or would you need to manually create one?
Thanks. What if the link I want to track is not a normal website link. Just a landing page. Like a Linktree link. Can I also add some utm to it to know where they’re getting clicked from?
Do we have to add only the homepage url and it will track the full journey to thank you page? or do we have to add only the url we intend to track? thank you for this valuable info sir!
This video is really awesome. Explained very clearly. As you explained, I tried to put UTM in Google ads but i am getting this below error Add {lpurl} or other landing page parameters to your tracking template. Tracking templates must reference your final URL. I am not getting where I am making mistake. Please help to solve this issue if possible. Thanks
Hi. Thank you for the video! I followed the instructions but for some reason I can't see my campaign in GA. Is this because I am tracking a PDF file? So the question is then: how to track PDF files with UTM?
This was great! I have a doubt though. It feels like these UTMs will only allow me to track my website visitors and where they are coming from. How can I track who is not only visiting the webinar page on my website but who is also signing up and where that audience is primarily coming from? For example, if I am running google and fb ads to promote a webinar on my website, how can I know which of the two sources are giving me more conversions i.e. sign-ups, so I can focus my marketing budget accordingly.
@@SocialMediaExaminer I've not used UTM links as there have not been enough ad sources to keep track of. Now with Klaviyo going well and Google + Facebook ambiguously claiming clicks and conversions, I need to hone in a little deeper to make sure my summaries are as on point as possible. Even still, I've found conversions are best looked at by total ad spend vs total sales. Individual breakdowns tend to result in chasing tails. But this will help. I think I would just edit the link according to the links location to track it and have one UTM per platform rather than per ad. Not sure if you wanted the long answer but you got one. haha
Can I not assign a parameter for Campaign Name if I don't want to? I'm just trying to track a QR code on a set of gift bags I'm making for a specific event
I'm running paid ads on social (using utms) FB ads manager is stating 100+ conversions (with conv. value etc) but they're not showing in GA. Is it typical for GA to not allocate conversions to FB within GA?
Hey, Rax! It is relatively new, and something RU-vid rolled out without much fanfare. All you have to do is ad timestamps to your description (be sure to include one that is 00:00 to start), and RU-vid will automatically display the divided timeline to your viewers who have this feature. Take a look at most of our videos to see how we do it. Let us know if it works for you! -Mitch
This video assumes you've already done UTM and Google Analytics stuff before. So the title is a complete misrepresentation - this is NOT for beginners. E.g., he says, "The second thing is you might see a lot of stuff back there, it just means that your campaign naming conventions have been a little fractured" as if we have all been doing UMT stuff for a while now...
