@@TonyTeachesTech reached out to you through your website contact information, could you please contact me when you get time, I have a question about using wget. Thanks Jason
Thanks, very clear and concise I appreciate you also explaining what terms and commands mean rather than telling everyone to just copy what you're doing. Quick question: is there a way to see the size before you commit to downloading?
Amazing. Qs: 1. If you then want to move the files to a different location or even different computer, how do you update the links to follow that location transition? 2. In addition, is there a way to then present a whole website you have designed, then fetched with wget, in an online portfolio somehow? Any help is appreciated 🙏 P.S. I noticed you typed convert-link without an s... Does it either work with or without it?
Thanks...very useful tool. In your demo, if I just use the mirror augument, iwill I get the same result if I copy the folders created by WGET to my online host, will the site work online?
I get this error on Windows 10 22h2 the specified image file is valid, but not for a computer of a different type than the current computer. How can I solve it?
Thank you for the tutorial, but what if the website gets taken down, is there a way to save the contents of the website, eg the videos and images from that website and download it on my desktop
As soon as I heard your accent... I had to find out where you're from... On your website I see that you're from Baltimore (same here). Pretty cool. Wish you nothing but the best.
If the source website is in Wordpress, Shouldn't the Wget list down "Index.php" instead of "index.html" ? Please advise how can i download exact mirror of the files.
after downloading the website, I can just access the pictures and main pages. What command should I write on the cmd to be able to have access to all of their resources as well? thank you :)
Is an active internet connection required to open he urls once copied? I was hoping to copy every page of a website into pdf files in categories just like it shows on the original website. For a personal use I need to save 500+ pages with text, images and files from a website in categories so I am looking for a solution to avoid doing it page by page. Thank you
Is there a way to link a file for download? From those websites? For example if i was wanting to mirror a site exactly but have a different local location to download from? Hopefully that make sense.
You would have to be more specific. You mean getting malware from downloading a web page? If so only download pages from sites you trust. I'm pretty sure any ads or links that might normally lead to malware or suspicious sites would be broken since your telling wget to convert all the links to your local download of the site and since ad links lead to external pages it will have nothing to link to.
What if its a webapp? We change majority of how it looks but i want to mirror how it functions and test it in a different domain? Even change any URLs that may be used by the original site. Ex. They use supabase for database and i use firebase. I want to know if it would mirror functions

can we upload this downloaded website to our owrdpress and edit? will there be any issues ??? what is the downloaded website is not f Wordpress , but of webflow? will this work on Wordpress as well?
Hi buddy, How can I download my university lessons which are only accessible after login into university website then I have to click each semester lessons. Can I download all that by wget as it need me to login first? How this will work? Thanks
Thats amazingly GROOVY!!! In the case of downloading the entire website, does it also capture the WP databases? It seems like it does or the WP site wouldn't be functional on the local machine? Would this be a good way to backup WP websites? Would they still function if they were restored onto the web server? Also why would a WP site be functional on your mac? As you can see, all of these questions make the assumption that the website you downloaded was indeed a WP site!!!! Thanks again!!!!
Is it possible to download photopea completely locally so that after every pc boot we won't have to go online even once. So basically is it possible to have photopea as fully installed desktop software with no server sides? P.S. If it is, would that be pirating? 🤔
You get log in to the site with your normal browser to get a cookie, copy the cookie from your browser, and then pass the cookie file as argument to wget.
Followed your instructions but each page on the website was individually downloaded and the links do not redirect to either the website or the local file. Do you reply to comments?
