Good video, thanks. I saw you installed one 8dBi panel antenna onto a Netgear R7000, replacing just the middle one: for a Netgear R7800 which has 4 antennas, would you still replace just one antenna or you'd install two of those panel antennas, I suppose to replace the two in the middle? Thanks
could you please advise me, if you can whats best to improve wifi signal in my house without using extenders. extenders might be good, but i noted that regardless what extender system i use (powerline, mesh, and standalone extender) they all drop signals when moving from room to another in my house. example using facetime or video chat on skype. ps i currently have vodafone router, but soon replacing it with BT smart hub, in england.
I'm interested in buying the 14dBi indoor panel to hook to my router but do you think it can transmit signal and reach my detached garage through 2 walls and about 30 ft away from the router/panel (placed indoor)?
Please make videos about extending wifi range for noobs... There is no video on that topic.. Your channel has potential to grow into a very big channel...
May i have a question to you? I am planning to purchase an outdoor WIFI tube adapter with 8dBi antenna. I live in a plain area on country side with 1 floor (here and there 2 floor) family houses with backyard areas each. and i want to scan the ambient WIFI networks in neighborhood for experimentations. How high should i mount my WIFI antenna? should i mount at 2 meters high on the wall of garage or on the roof of garage at aprox. 3,5 meters high from the ground? I have heard that WIFI antennas are not meant to be mounted high because of the radiation pattern. So i dont know if 3,5 meters is high or not. and if you say that 3,5m is better, can i install it on a metal rod above a dish antenna for satellite receiver or will it be interfering with my WIFI antenna? or better to prepare its own place on the roof of garage a bit away from the dish? Thank you so much for helping me :)
What products do you recommend to be able to receive my library's wifi signal that is 4.37 miles away (all I have is a laptop and a pole to mount the antenna)?
At what point (distance) will I have to start worrying whether my wireless device can send a strong enough signal for the antenna to pick up? This is assuming I am still at a distance that my wire device can pick up the signal transmitted by the antenna.
Hey thanks for the videos, they are great. Clear up some basics for me please. Lets say I have a panel which goes 100 meters and its connected to my access point. Then lets say I have a laptop which can travel 10 meters. Does that mean at 109 meters I have a connection, because there is a 1 meter overlap in the signals? Or do you need the same technology on each side so 100 meter panel and then another 100m panel connected to the laptop? So in other words, can I got 1 mile away from my house and point one of these at my house and pick up the standard access point, or would I need to also have a panel on the house pointing back at me.
Using two panels is always a much better solution. However, depending on the environment, power and distance you may be able to get away with just one panel.
@@SimpleWiFi sir i have 2.4ghz frequency wifi adaptor. Sir my question is can we use dual frequency 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequency antenna with single freq Wifi adaptor? Is this work perfectly or not?
I’m trying to find a antenna to pick the WiFi from my to my shop, I need something I can mount on the outside of the outbuilding that will catch the WiFi from house. And from the antenna on the outbuilding I need to hook it to the router inside the metal building. Any ideas?
Do you have to have a usb receiver to receive the signal of the indoor 8dbi panel? I have a nightjawk router on my top floor that sends signal to a wifi extender in the basement which I use the Ethernet ports on to hardwire into my PC.
thanks for the info. What kind of tips would you have for drone use ? I'm looking into building a portable tripod based antenna for extended range . Repeater, booster all battery bank power. Any suggestions ?
@@SimpleWiFi what about using a parabolic umbrella for photography ? Would that widen the stream ? Are repeaters enough power to get distance? What can I use as an amp, and not cause interference. Your channel has taught me so much about wifi, Thank you for all your time and effort helping us better understanding wifi.

I would like to connect to home router that is 50m away from me, has clear view, using grid antenna i can't manage to position antena correctly, signal is very weak. Is panel antenna the solution?
Hey Simple WiFi! I’m Interested behind one of your wi-Fi outdoor panels. I’m trying to get a Wi-Fi hotspot approximately 966.90 ft. My cabin is in the woods and there’s a quite a lot of trees to the Wi-Fi hotspot trying to get. What do you guys recommend for what panel I should get? Also can I mount to a satellite dish that can receive more signal and father? And one last thing, what kind of modem, router, etc should I receive that signal? Thank you guys so much! I’ve got all equipment to go except for the antenna panel, modem, router, etc. **ALSO, I CAN'T GO INTO YOUR WEBSITE GOOGLE CHROME IS REFUSING TO GO TO YOUR WEBSITE**
Hello, the panel will work well but you also need some other gear. This is thevideo that will explain what you need: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K3xBD8ZaT4I.html
hi, there's an open wifi 1/8 mile from my house, still would like at least 4 mile range antena to catch signal on the phone and on the Chromecast, not Smart tv, what You would reccomend? and thank's.
I have an Orbi mesh wifi router system in my house, but want to set up a simple repeater at the window to receive from the mesh network and rebroadcast in a narrow direction out the window to another location. Are you aware of any wifi repeaters/extenders which would work with one of your 15 DBI antennas? This would require, it seems, 1) that the extender have a *removable* antenna, OR 2) that the extender have an ethernet OUTPUT to rebroadcast the wifi signal it is receiving from the home router nearby to an external router I can then plug into it, which would have removable antennas to go to one of your antennas. I'm worried the extender will have lousy transmit power, however, as the dbi only specifies *directionality*, but NOT broadcasting power, and I'd like good broadcasting power. Any recommended devices to look into are appreciated. Thank you.
There seems to be a gap in the discussion about wifi antennas on the site. I am one of those who live in an area with many people, mostly students, running their computers, mobile phones and streaming services over WiFi with omnidirectional antennas. Are there practical steps, using thought, cooperation and directional antennas to reduce the interference problems?
Yes - by changing the polarization of the antennas and the frequency to 5GHz when possible. Less devices are using 5Ghz and there are more channels. So that's a quick fix for reducing interference.
I would like to extend my WiFi to my detached garage, what is the best solution and requirements, e.g. does the antenna require power, cable type, coaxial 400 was mentioned, is this the same as RG6? Thanks in advance.
If i have $160 and my friends wifi is 5 houses/70ft away I want to play Xbox 1 game. My parents house is 840 ft away With a bunch of houses in the way. Is there any recommendations for an antenna?
if i live live near my school (about one mile) could i send a wifi signal to it and connect to it with my phone or is that not possible and if it is what antenna should i use?
Not really - if you stand on the roof of a building and have line of sight to your antenna on the roof then yes you can use your WiFi signal at home. But wouldn't you want to grab the signal from the school at home and get free WiFi? You can do that with the WiFi repeater kit.
I just want to not use my data but instead to use my home internet but I'm not that smart when it comes to this stuff so that is why i was asking. -Thanks
Hi, I am from India. I like your video. I need some help regarding wifi. I wanted to setup WiFi CCTV cameras in my farm. The distance from point A to point B is 500 Meters. I don't want to use any cable to connect CCTV cameras. So what can I do in this situation. Can you give me any idea.
Didn't get one bit!! not detailed enough for me,no prices,no connections...; i want to pick up net via wifi from my so's house, just 1.2 miles away, cheaply; can it be done?
I still dont get it. My rv is parked 300 ft away from 2 different public wifi hot spots. my computer can see them, but not enough signal to connect with no obstructions at all in the line of sight. My tecky guy says that unless they do something on there end with their router i will never be able to boost my reception. You are saying that if i buy a usb thingy, a panel thingy, and a router of my own ,,, i can get internet to my laptop? isnt there something that is one piece that plugs in directly to a laptop that gives its wifi better reception without all that other stuff?
@@SimpleWiFi Ok. Thanx. Would you reccomand me panel or grid antenna for distance about 50 meters house? I currently receive -70 to -75 db with homemade biquad. I had read that grid is narrow and hard to setup?
All of these require routers with antennas? Best solution if ours doesn't? Want to transmit up to 500 feet to reach our outdoor cameras with no interference as far as buildings, trees, etc. Router is ATT.
I wanted to thank you because YOU had mentioned in one of your videos something that was crucial to receiving a great wifi signal. So what was the crucial info? Here's the story. I was trying to get the most powerful signal I could with a panel antenna. Somewhere along the lines while modifying the panel antenna the signal became weaker to the point where I could no longer get on the internet. I was connected but couldn't connect to websites. So what was the problem? While modifying the antenna I used a longer cable from the panel antenna to the wifi adapter. Somewhere in one of your videos you mention there's a lot of signal loss when you use a coax cable between your antenna and your wifi adapter. THIS IS SOOOO TRUE!!! When I found out that little piece of info I went home ( I was using burger king's wifi ) I grabbed the wifi panel antenna and eliminated the 3 and a half foot wifi cable all together. I then used adapter connector and about two inches of the wire used in directional antennas. HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! So for anyone and everyone reading this who has a weak signal and is using a panel antenna get your wifi adapter card as close to the antenna as possible using the least amount of wiring as possible then watch what happens! I mounted my wifi adapter ( with tape ) directly to the antenna. Now my wifi is working better than ever! So a Big THANK YOU goes out to SimpleWiFi a simple little trick made a HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!
