Thanks for watching. We use 'would' for activities, such as 'When I was young, I would play tennis every day'. We use 'used to' for both activities and also states. For example, 'When I was young, I used to live in Italy'. Here, we can't use 'would' because where you live is a state of being, not an activity. Hope that helps!

@Oxfordonlineenglish1
@Oxfordonlineenglish1 7 лет назад
Hi Rekanai, 'if' would mean you're talking about a certain condition that would make living in a small flat true. Using 'but' would talk about what deterred you from living in a small flat. So yes, these are ways to talk about a scenario in the past.

this video was definitely one of the most helpful videos I've ever seen about Would could you please tell me why did we use "would" in this sentence? : - Every problem is a gift, without problems we would not grow , And also can we use "would" for future probability without imagining a situation? I mean we use "would" in place of "might" or "may" Can this be right..?, I hope you answer me And I'm really confused about this, Native speakers always use Would very quickly in their speech and I don't understand what are they talking about or which use of Would is that? I've been searching about it for a long time and I didn't find any explanation So I wanna know how to use Would in conversations

Hi there. For this sentence: 'Every problem is a gift, without problems we would not grow,' we are imagining a hypothetical future.
