This is exactly the content I need! I love my Garmin but I get overwhelmed with all the data and everything - would love to see videos about how to use navigation features, favourite watch faces, straps/bands, etc ❤️
I use many features of the Fenix 7X SS Pro: PacePro, newly added activities like skipping (jumping rope), custom activities (e.g. a Parkrun variant of run with a specific pace target), extra apps (parkrun barcode, parkrun results), audio alerts, a playlist of 180bpm songs, lot of GPX courses, race against a previous activity, turn-by-turn navigation, timers for exercises, custom workouts, training calendar, etc. I reread the manual every so often and learn how to use a new feature.
Neeeed this video thank you! The ad people are dumb so many of us runners bought our watch learned the very simple Basics and haven’t figured anything out since (I’m sure Rick is like me) Great video as always
Great video! I’m not tech savvy at all so this is very useful. I like putting my interval sessions in the watch but I find it can be a bit of a pain to input every step.
Use all of these features my venu also has but looking how the next version of the features work in a better watch for later in the year. So thanks for the tips.
I’m liking the stamina metric at the moment, seems to be quiet accurate as well (for me and how I feel at least, before some pilock comes along telling me it’s wrong)
The FR165 looks like a great 'replacement' for the FR55. Definitely looking less utilitarian and more like something you could wear all day, every day. I just wish Garmin would find a way to release a watch with proper cellular connectivity - would be game changer and shake up the smartwatch market considerably.
I make a program on my laptop, import it to my watch, warming up for example would be in zone1/2 if im out of this hart-rate-zone it vibrates so i know to change pace or watch my breathing and this way i don’t have to look at my watch and go by feel until my watch vibrates
Hi Running Channel, the Garmin training plans offer both pace or heart rate based options, which one is best? I recently followed the pace based training plan for my first half marathon and wonder if I chose the wrong option. The recovery runs in particular were just too slow (8:30/km). The plan did the job though, I finished my first 1/2 marathon, did I mention it was a proper trail run with 520M elevation! Also, a quick walk through of the pace pro watch screen would be good, I partly understand it but I have no idea what the bar graph thing is meant to represent! Thanks for putting the extra podcast eps on RU-vid. PS Please come to Australia soon. PPS I'd love it if you'd open your giveaways/competitions to Aussies too .
sponsored videos must have the paid promotion banner you usually see in the top left at the start of videos when making sponsored content which this video does not
I bought the Forerunner 165 to improve my health and reduce my body fat, my current VO2 is poor, I am totally out of shape, I use the daily recommendations. Are the daily recommendations good for my goals or do you have any tips?
For longer runs/races (ultras) I find the Climb Pro screen a blessing and a curse 😂 It's nice to know you're 9n climb 6/8 and how much of the climb you have left. Not so nice when it's climb 1/14 and it tells you that this climb is 4km long 😬 Also, I set alerts to remind me to eat and drink - it's just one less thing to think about on long events 😊
I can vouch for the Instinct 2 in terms of value for money. It has almost as many metrics as the Forerunner 255, but is available at the cost of the FR 55 where I live
Can a Garmin forerunner 965 be set to auto-splits and also take manual splits, but show both types in Garmin connect after the run is done? I tried this the other day and it did not seem to work.
I have the vivoactiv 5, how do I get the heart rate end the zones in the bottom of the first watch face? I can only get the watch face with the big one.
I wore my watch for over two years solidly, only ever took it off to charge. I learnt a lot but after 4+ years of analysing my data I’ve now stopped wearing it except for recordable activities. I’ve not concluded what this mean yet but I know I wasn’t learning anything new or getting any additional value.
I find it too annoying to wear all the time. Especially when it beeps with random crap on the screen telling me I'm "stressed" after I've jogged up some stairs.
My HRV is always balanced but is always around 45ish. I’ve read some people say everyone’s is different and I’ve also seen having a low score can mean you have bad heart conditions. My resting heart rate is 55.
I’m worried the 165 might be too large for my wrist. Unfortunately where I live I can’t go out and try it on. Can you share your wrist size cm? Looks great on you!
The thing is when i use the ‘%of heart rate reserve’ methodology my zone 2 range becomes 136-153 instead of 119-139. I don’t mind it as i struggle to keep my easy runs in zone 2 but always wonder what if i am over training. Any tips?
I just bought the Forunner 265, I just want to know how to get to the home screen? How do I turn on the touch screen? How do I reset after a run for a new run? All other videos say go to the "menu" button and choose "system" There is no "menu" button, there is no "system" button. Please help!
I love my nearly new Garmin 255 (Christmas present) Great for sleep-sleeping heart rate(resting HR)-Running heart rate. But when I put the running timer screens up. I can’t get it to start timing!!! So I run with just the heart rate monitor function! What gives?
You should not rely on the integrated HR sensor though if you plan on training with HR zones. It's simply not as accurate/adaptive as a strap. So if you want to train just buy a simple strap, they're not so expensive and I believe most of them are supported now with recent Garmin watches as they support both ANT+/Bluetooth
Instead of creating different screens I create different profiles for each type of run. I am too focused on running to change screens mid run. PS how much caffeine did you feed Sarah before recording this video? 😂
Interval training with varying paces - I did a session this morning (nothing special - 250m on, 150m off) and got 3.4 / 3.2 so I think it's quite normal.
I've started keeping it on the HR screen, as I'm getting back into my 80/20 Zone 2 runs. Only took my three months to figure out you can also set HR alerts on it, too, which is really useful for Zone running.
Useful pieces of advice! Sadly, I've been stuck with my VO2max for some years and decided to get an Instinct 2 and ECG strap with load focus, training status and recommended workouts with training readiness on top. Been keeping my load focus in check and doing the recommended workouts - with very little effect in terms of improving. I mean I like to run, but it's definitely not changing anything about my VO2max. It's been 52 when I've started three years ago (without doing cardio, just work as a farmer) and guess where it is now, with three to four weekly runs? 52 ...
Great video, I’m definitely going to use some of these - I’m guilty of being glued to my pace all the time! I do have a question: Sarah talks about laps and splits and I realised that I’ve never thought about the difference between them. Please could someone explain the difference?
I just read the Running Channel's link in the description for their editorial practice. If you look at the thumbnail, you will see the word "AD" at the top right.
Hi, we have more information on our editorial practice in our description but if you see the word AD in our thumbnail and a logo of a brand with ours near the start of the video it is a partnership with a brand. Email us if you would like more information though
@@runningchannelyou need to make it a bit clearer that this is an advert because it is barely visible on the thumbnail. Surely you’re not trying to hide the fact it’s an advert from your loyal audience… 🤨
@@Nige.Does the fact that it’s exclusively about Garmin watches, has Garmin in the title, and a Garmin logo at the start of the video not signpost that a little bit? 🤷♂️
