Here is a quick that shows you how to use RU-vid's auto caption feature. While it is not perfect, it can save you a great deal of time and increase your videos findablity online by allowing Google to better index your video.
I was frustrated that I couldn't find some of the features he described, but I read the comments and decided to wait awhile before giving up. Sure enough, the auto-captioning appeared a few hours later, and I can go ahead with cleaning it up as described in this video. Thanks so much, AshevilleVideo!
The layout on youtube is quite different now, but this video was very useful for me. I'm trying to translate a Japanese TV show and even though I'm based in the UK, the automatic Japanese subs appeared. These will be invaluable in making English subs. I wouldn't have figured it out without this upload. Thanks very much indeed.
The comments and your video have helped me massively (25/07/2017 for people interested) like TLC above i'm transcribing and this works wonders despite me being a complete beginner. I also did it on a private video, just FYI.
I have uploaded captions to my youtube video. can you suggest why it doesn't show up automatically as someone goes to see the video and have to click cc to see subtitles?
Listen to Jurif folks... Coz suddenly this feature has gone and until a few months ago I was impressing my university with it because transcription is an expensive process, as it should be! We have slashed budgets and needed a cheap crude way to provide subtitles for educational videos. This feature was a budget saver then. And now I just wasted a day today trying to make some videos accessible with subtitles.
TLC Seecharan wait I had the same issue, then after a few days the CC sub appeared! It takes a few days but the subtitles will appear. Before it was almost immediate. So check your recent uploads and see if there are auto CC.
Stacy Seecharan Hey..thanks a lot. I will wait a few days. I think it doesn´t work. If the video is short, yes work. But if it had 15, 30 min, it doesen´t work inmediate. My english is not good. Greetings from Argentina
There is no "automatic captions" option. YT has changed their editor since this video was posted. I uploaded my 90 minute movie. Here's my choices... Choose how you want to add subtitles or closed captions to this video: Upload a file Transcribe and auto-sync Create new subtitles or CC
But why some videos have automatic captions while others dont have. i tried everything to get automatic captions for my recent video but its not appearing. now the video is super important and long too . i didnt add subtitles while editing thinking that you tube will automatically do that now what to do?
