Hi does the heel lift go on the shorter leg side? My shorter leg (right) knee and ankle pain is much worse than the longer leg why is this? Im confused as to what side the heel lift goes in as i thought it would go in the longer leg to make it level? Please help
@COREChiropracticHouston

It goes on the shorter leg to make up the difference in length. The short leg usually does have more hip, knee, and ankle pain due to increased weight-bearing on that side.

Hello... Due to a break when I was a teenager, the left leg is a little shorter (maybe around 1- 1.5 cm)... Also, I think the fibula and tibia in the shorter leg didnt heal perfectly straight, thus, the foot is slightly rotated... What would you recommended for this as far as orthotic/ shoe lift/ chiropractic work etc? Thanks
@COREChiropracticHouston
@COREChiropracticHouston Год назад
First step would be to get evaluated via x-ray and find out how much exactly it's short. Sometimes the leg difference is partially pelvis rotation (this can be adjusted via chiropractic) and partially anatomical (this you would need a lift or shoe modification). How much one side is shorter will help guide what you need to do to correct it.

Hi, my daughter has a 2.5cm leg length discrepancy due to Blounts disease. She will be having leg length surgery in 6months time. In the mean time is she a candidate for a heel lift insert or a full shoe lift? Can she use either temporarily before the surgery? Regarding total shoe lift, does she wear a specialised shoe or do they take her current shoes and lift them? Can this be done discreetly so it isn't obvious to others?
@COREChiropracticHouston

She would need a full size shoe insert. They usually start at 18 mm , which would be helpful. They are typically worn discreetly in a looser shoe or a shoe one half size larger. Having a shoe repair group re-engineer the shoe can get expensive, but they also do it as discreetly as possible.
