FoodSaver Device like mine on AMAZON.ca! (Black and Stainless Steel) amzn.to/4ffceyP AMAZON CHOICE ALSO! It has the same setup to make food sealing easy!
Just bought my first machine, when I get home from grocery shopping I vac seal everything I can get my hands on (I'm obsessed 😁) so impressed at how much longer the food lasts in the cupboard, fridge & freezer. I'm saving so much money in this tough economic climate
You absolutely rock. I just love this. I don’t know how I didn’t think about it before as I was struggling with marinating my steaks and having them leak. So thank you thank you thank you plus you are very friendly and it is a joy to watch you.
This video helped a lot! I’ve noticed frozen food seal better! Now I know to put the food in the bags freeze then seal!! Never thought of that!! Thanks so much!!
OMG!! LOVE the 'shortcut.' I have a bunch of newly made pasta sauce that I didn't want to can and wanted it to last and last. You've saved me a ton of time and money. Thanks so much!!
Thank you! This was so helpful, I just bought my first vacuum sealer after several years of just throw food in the freezer in ziplock bags or containers. I am so excited to finally learn how to properly store my delicious soups. Thanks for your video ❤❤❤
This is a great idea and just in time for soup/chili season. I always make a lot in my Instant Pot but it will last longer if I vacuum seal. I'm going to buy a wide neck funnel though so I don't have to worry about slopping the contents near the sealing point of the bag.
nice, i figured this out years ago.. i have a set of "Corelle" soup bowls that are very rounded perfectly and what i have done is just freeze the soup in the bowl, then using the exact method you showed of dropping it in the sink in hot tap-water for a couple minutes and it pops right out. It WILL BE a little wet(it's frozen soup) but once you get it into the food-saver freezer bag...the MAIN THING it to take a paper towel and MAKE SURE where the seal is going to be to wipe it completely dry(the inside of the bag) and then seal it as normal. You COULD even pop it back in the freezer for a 1/2 hour to prevent ANY moistness seeping up as the vacuum process happens to give a really good seal. The nice part is they last in the freezer for months(maybe years?) but I've done this with my seafood chowder, beef stroganoff and even that special GRAVY" you made that one time that was the best! etc... basically anything wet that could benefit from this method. It really is the ONLY way I have found that works so well. When you crack open the seal, pop it back in the same bowl you froze it in as it fits perfectly and defrost. Great video!
I’ve never had an issue with ruining my machine sealing soups. I’ve had the same machine for 17 years. Had to replace the foam seals from time to time. The channel is removable and can be washed. Maybe it’s because I think this was the second model ever made and they’ve gotten more complicated.
I love this video, straight to the point. I can't wait to try doing this. You gave me just the confidence I needed to seal and store my wet food. Thank You and keep helping us out in youtube land lol
When filling the bags with liquid, flip the lip of the bag inside out so that you get a good, untouched surface to seal. If you don't, you often touch that surface.
Terrific idea, the standing bag system. I just saw a video where the woman ladled into a canning jar (using a wide funnel), then slipped the jar over the bag and flipped it -- thus avoiding the tricky part of ladling directly into a narrow bag. Another woman folded the tops of the bags over-- also a useful tip.
Another way is to use new or RECYCLED little sandwich bags, and put your liquid in them, seal, and freeze. They get the nice flat shape that works so well in a freezer. Then, when frozen, drop them into a vac bag, open the top a little, and seal. I always reuse ALL little plastic bags so this is very easy for me. If the size of the bag to be inserted is not exactly right, put it empty into the vac seal bag, then will and seal, and proceed to freeze, etc. A little bit of extra work, but the product is a better shape and you get to reuse those plastic sealable bags even if they are very thin!
Just found your video site I subscribed but I don't know if it's going to go through cuz its 2 years old but now I know how to do my soups and stews thank you
This is super hack... i have been trying to figure out how to vaccum seal my chilli paste without the vac sealer sucking out the oily liquid... thanks a lot man...
That works also! I do same with plastic Tupperware. However I don't like thought of plastic going into food. But it's a balance right?! Thanks for sharing. I love air sealing.
Another hack would be the use of Gripstics Close the bag with Gripstics (remove part of the air ), freeze lying down, remove gripstick and then vacuum and seal.
@@debbietaylor8745 , google it, it is neat. It is a "stick" that seals food bags by sliding the plastic through it and seals the bags. Often used for chip bags.
I despair. We individuals in our great "developed" world aggregate are responsible for SO MUCH WASTE. To h#|| with disposable plastic bags. A mason jar can be vacuum sealed and REUSED. Remember Reduce Reuse and Recycle? The greatest of these is Reduce. Its close companion is Reuse. All hands on deck for the cure. p.s. I acknowledge: good vid for what it is, presented by helpful/personable guy.
