Have you tried scanning the BACK of the passport? SOmetimes our tech just doesn't work? DO you know that your passport works? Have you used it at the airport on one of those automatic machines?

The back of the passport worked for me too. Mine is an old style Red UK passport and my iPhone got the signal in the bottom right quadrant of the passport on the back cover 🙌🏻
I’ve tried every which way. Both covers inside & out. Photo pages every inch of them. Nothing. Red passport with NFC diagram on cover so it has to be here yet according to LinkedIn no lol
I can't get past the NFC chip scan page. It verifies my passport successfully but with the next step, it stays on the "Ready to scan. Move your device slowly across your ID." screen with no camera or indication to scan my ID.
This is a new one for me. Try deleting the LinkedIn™ App and then re-installing. PLUS make sure that your phone has all the latest updates. And turn it off and on again.

@@michaelrafter4799 aarrrggghhhh. I feel your pain. Try turning your phone on and off and making sure that you have the latest operating system installed. It may just be that your passport isn't working. Have you been through Passport control recently and used the machine instead of the customs officer?

Bro please if you're gonna do a tutorial do a proper one; show how you scan the chip on your passport. The ID details page is easily done but I'm unable to complete the NFC chip one because I've scanned everywhere yet Persona cannot detect the chip

Tried about 8x now with no joy on a Samsung S23 Ultra. NFC is def working, I get a sound + vibration to say its connected but then 'error authenticating with your document NGC chip' msg. Have definitely entered the correct info, no case on my phone & using back of passport.
aarrrggghhh 😱. I feel your pain. I am not a tech expert but have you tried updating your OS nd turning your phone on and off again? You never know. But sometimes it just doesn't work 🤦. LinkedIn™ are working on other methods for verification, so you may have to wait for a new procedure. Sorry
@AshleyLeeds Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty good with tech, and everything with the OS is up to date. After taking more time to consider it, I've decided not to share this data regardless of whether they get this issue fixed or not.
Thank you! for what ever reason, my phone couldnt pick-up my passports NFC chip. But the tip on having the top of the phone (camera side) in the middle of the information page, worked?? Maybe its just the New Zealand passport's charm haha

This is an awesome question. I am just trying to help you to get verified. I am not a data security expert, but I'll link the help page for LinkedIn™ below. This is what they say Data collection and sharing: Although you’ll access Persona’s verification process through the LinkedIn app, Persona will be the party collecting certain personal data required to verify your identity including an image of your government issued ID (e.g. passport) and a selfie. To enable Persona to link your verification request with your LinkedIn account, LinkedIn will provide Persona a hashed version of your LinkedIn Member ID (“RequestID”). sadly Benjamin, the current way using the persona partnership is with passports only. LinkedIn™ are working on more ways to get us all verified. Watch this space.

Sorry. The scanning of the passport needs to be done on the rear of the passport holding your phone with the back of the phone touching the passport. We're not actually scanning., just READING it. Just like when we pay with out phone. Hope this helps
I am really sorry, but at the moment the way that LinkedIn™ do their verification relies on this feature. There are plans to roll out other ways to verify accounts so keep coming back!!!

I am really sorry but the only way to verify your passport is by using the NFC. You do not have apple or google pay then? If you can pay via your phone, then you do have NFC, you just may need to turn it on!! Let me know how you get on

The New Passport should have the chip. Did you try scanning the back? Does your phone have the facility? Can you use apple or google pay for example? Maybe try turning your phone off and on?
