Thanks for explaining this so clearly. You probably already know that the Bluehost interface has changed again, so the input for the Google site TXT will be different. They use a different format for the time, so you can't type "4 Hours (min)" but you have to use a TTL value like "14400" (which is 4 hours, if you look this up online with a TTL calculator).
@@blogwithben I also noticed this. However, when I enter @, 14400, and TXT record for Google Search Console, I get a message warning me that the Register services "Hosting" configured with my domain will not work if I make this change. Therefore, I abort as I'm not sure exactly what that means and I'm wary of doing something which may take my website down. I tried with a TTL of 2 hours, or 7200, and my verification failed repeatedly. I'm wondering if the URL prefix method may be an option? @attitune Did you encounter anything like this?
@@kitchen_uproar770 I decided to persist with the domain verification method and after multiple attempts (and leaving it for a few days) I was finally able to set a TTL of 2 hours, or 7200. And by some magical alignment of the IT powers that be, that worked. I wish I could tell you exactly why or what, or whether that's even the right method, but my domain has been connected to Search Console since and I haven't had any problems. SO frustrating.
Thank You! I have been looking for answers for about 24 hours and FINALLY I found them was missing that @ all along! subscribed today just because of this vid!! Keep up the great work!
Hi dear, firstly ur extent is too good for Asians 2nd ur way of teaching is also understandable 👌 i have not experience in this field but i like to learn it.thanks
HI Ben, I didn't realize I need to signup to google search console that is why I only have put my spf record not the google verification code in the txt record this really helps thanks !
It helped me a lot. I love this. Like you did. It's always good to tell your viewers to 'like' and 'subscribe', because I almost forgot to hit the like btn on this really helpful video until you said to like and subscribe.
Hello, great vid - very thorough, I was wondering if you already have a www and non www added through url prefix is it best to remove these and then add the domain as a new property? currently I have to add each url one under www and no www, would the domain option remove the need for this and merge all meaning only one url would be required? thank you
Hi! Thanks for watching! That's a really great question. I personally have both www and non www versions in GSC. As well as http and https. However, I added the "domain option" using blogwithben.com and they all merged to that domain in terms of tracking. Does that answer your question?
@@blogwithben it does, that’s what we’ve done, and we’ve tested it the domain option allows for all to be added painlessly, thank you Ben, from a fellow Ben
Hi I just had a question if my domain is through namecheap and my site is on hostgator which one do I use to verify through Google search console? Appreciate your time
Thanks for watching! It's wherever you have access to the DNS records. You may need to point the domain back to Namecheap and verify the domain within the DNS records, then point it back at GoDaddy. I had to do that with a client one time, but it worked. :)
Hi! Thanks for watching! You can remove it, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's also used for other things like ensuring email security, preventing spam and phishing, providing general information, listing points of contact for the domain, framework policies, etc. There really isn't much downside to keeping in on record. Thanks again for watching!
I’m using 123reg from the UK. The TTL on my TXT record is 1/2 hour by default. There is no option for 4 hours, only 1/2hr , 1hr and 1 day. Will that be a problem?
Thanks so much for watching! For your TXT record, anywhere within the 1 - 12-hour timeframe should suffice. Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks again!
I can't see the field where I'm supposed to put the @ on my contabo DNS settings. I'm still not verified after more than 2 weeks of trying to solve this ---"We couldn't find the verification token in your domain's TXT records. You might need to wait a few minutes before Google sees your changes to the TXT records"
Do you only have to do this once? My domain provider won't let me do this because I switched DNS to host, but host won't allow me to do it either as I didn't get the domain from them. I can only think of switching DNS back to provider, do the verification and then switching back DNS to host again - would that work? Thanks so much.
Hey Lyndsay! Thanks for watching and great question. I've never done it that way before, so I can't say. However, it probably wouldn't hurt to try since you can switch back either way. Let me know how it goes!
Hi, Rachel! Thanks for watching! If you want your GoDaddy domain to point to your Wix site, you'll need to add the following nameservers to your GoDaddy domain. ns1.wixdns.net ns2.wixdns.net Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again for watching!
Hi Ben, thanks for your quick reply. The name servers, as far as I can see are pointing to wix and are named as you suggest. When I try to go to google search console and try to copy into the dns part.on go daddy it says they can't authorise it because the name servers belong to wix.
Hi, Rachel! From what I can tell, the steps for Wix are a bit different than this video. I've never used Wix, but here is a help doc I found on the topic. support.wix.com/en/article/verifying-your-site-with-google-search-console-6081361 Let me know if that helps. It seems to lay out the steps, but if you need some extra help, I'd be happy to take a closer look. Thanks again!
Hey! Thanks for watching! Sorry for the delay. I do my best to reply to each comment, but sometimes it's tough. Anyways, are you still having your issue?
great video!. I have a google sites web bulder and a custom domain from godaddy. But my google sites address is in address bar. how do I get custom domain url to show
@@blogwithben yes. Now I am trying to forward with godaddy masking. My other domain works but thus domain still has sites address in address bar after typing custom doman address. It forwards but keeps Google sites address
Where do you find your google site verification code in the search console? I'm not new to search console, so my property is already added. Just need to find the code not as a first time user. Thanks!
Hey! Thanks for watching! Within you Google Search Console account, try going to Settings>Ownership Verification. You should be able to access the code there. :)
Hi, Sanket! The course is almost ready. We are planning to launch in mid May. I will definitely send you an email when it's ready. Plus, since you signed up for the list, you'll have access to early bird pricing. Thanks again for your patience. It's almost ready! :)
@@blogwithben Thank you for an update on this Ben, I can't wait for what your course has to offer. I am getting so much value out of your videos here too. I look forward to your course. Thanks
