As a retired Para, I feel near to all those who lost their life in a war. I have never been to Arlington, but I met the graveyards of WWI and WWII. Everytime I come to tears after carefully inspecting the Tombstones of those dead soldiers. They were mostly young, often lost their lives before they have reached their 20ies. What a shame and sorry….. For me, they are all Brothers to me. Boys I surely will meet you…

Grew up doing living history in E/506th (93-2000's)so spent a good amount of time with many of the Scallywags of Easy esp Wild Bill & Babe. now having talked with Bill after that ep. #3 aired even he said that they though he didn't make it cause no one had heard from him and he didn't attend any of the reunions. So Joe Muccia who was the 2nd unit CO of E/506th Reenacted is working on a 4 book series that will cover ALL those who severed in Easy so that will have a crazy amount of info. he also has his podcast "Were Not Lost , Private" & his tour "The Path of Easy Company Tour"

God Bless You for doing this. There are so many memorials around you as you did this video from different wars that may never be noted but they did their duty. And your right, if you never served you would never know the feeling of you friends you serve with. You learn who you can trust, not trust and those you would use your own hands to stop their bleeding. I served 12 years in the Army (enlisted ON my 17th birthday). My brother served in Vietnam. My dad in WW-II. Keep in mind, Arlington is just one National cemetary in the U.S. They are spread all over our great land. Much respect for my fellow brothers & sisters that did their duty especially to those that lost their lives doing so! Thank you for this upload.

14:39 I totally agree with you, however, you need soldiers such as Speirs who are willing and able to execute total war against the enemy no matter the cost. Saving Private Ryan also demonstrated this in a scene of the landing on Normandy. If you are not prepared to go to total war against your enemy, you will fail. Our politicians have cost us victory for our last several wars.

My father was a member of the Philippine resistance (running intel) as a teenager while my grandfather (US Army, retired) was in a prison camp at Santo Thomas. Upon liberation, my dad joined the U.S. Navy (1945-1949), then joined the U.S. Air Force (retired in 1967) and ended up serving as a non-combatant member of the U.S. Army with rank of Lt. Colonel in Viet Nam (1969). He died in 1976 at 48 and he had the opportunity to be buried at Arlington but chose not to because he wanted to share his final resting place with my mother. They’re together now, for eternity. With all his service, I don’t believe my father felt worthy to share that ground with those he viewed as real heroes.

Thank you for this presentation. Do you know if there is a directory to tell you where an individual is buried? I've got a shipmate buried there and if I ever get back to Arlington, it would be nice to see him again.

Look up the Arlington National Cemetery app…it is a great resource and can even give you walking directions to specific graves. We use it a lot. Just type the name and go. 😊

Really good presentation Jenn. It’s a bit macabre but it’s a shame their story was’t told until these men were reaching the end of life. Seeing their graves brings a sense of humanity to these men the series didn’t achieve for me.

Interesting…if I missed that I’ll put it in the video description. We’ll do some digging on him. He may not be considered part of Easy Company since he would have been the CO of multiple companies…but he would have been a good one to recognize there as well as he played a big part in their story.

@@WalkwithHistory I understand. I hope I am not being thought of as being disagreeable. Just want to focus on the video. Technically speaking Col Strayer was not in Easy either. I do understand using this logic we could say that Gen Anthony McAuliffe and Gen Maxwell Taylor both also interred at Arlington were as well. As someone who grew up under the shadow of Currahee Mtn when I think of "Band of Brothers" I think of the core group during the fighting under Sobel, Winters, Heyliger, Dike, and finally "Sparky" Speirs. Along with their supporting "brothers".

@@WalkwithHistory I am not sure about your ability to leave the US, but it is important to remember many of Easy Company never made it back home. They are buried in several different places in Europe. I am planning a work-related trip back to Belgium for this upcoming summer. Most of these Easy Vets are not famous names from the book and miniseries, but they fought and gave it all for us all!
