@@LHeminway synthetic wig shampoos are made specifically for synthetic wigs. they are more expensive but you dont want to risk damaging a wig that costs hundreds of dollars
As a professional makes and maintains synthetic wigs for stage performances, I'm here to tell you that you can dilute liquid laundry detergent and this will not damage or reduce the length of the life of your wig at all. Because I have so many wigs I usually wash in batches but you don't need more than half a teaspoon in a warm Basin of water. Don't let people who have a vested interest in selling you a product make you think the expensive things are guaranteed to somehow perform better than common things you have lying around
The washing part is good information but you should never dry your wig on a head block it will stretch the cap of the wig which will make it baggy over time and it will take much longer for the wig to dry. An open sided wig stand should be used.
Hi Geri, washing your wig with wig shampoo would be the best way to reduce the shine but in turn could reduce the life of the wig as it’ll dry out quicker! Best wishes, Stuart.
To avoid damaging your wig, we always recommend using wig care products that are free from sulfates. Not all regular hair products are safe for wigs and cause damage, however, you can find products that are OK to use, just make sure to choose ones that'll keep your wig in good condition!
