More people need to see your method! I see so many questions or concerns of putting their cloth pads in the wash because of the other people in the house with them. This method would be no different than washing a newly soiled pair of panties you leaked onto over the night. And only soaking them for 4 hours give minimal time for anyone to discover them, if you clean them at a proper time. Well done, thank you for the upload!
My family has to,, deal,, with my soaked bloody panties since i bleed aut constantly it just happens but its no problem God didn't give me the blessing to create life so someone can shame my period its natural
Hi, thanks for posting! A lot of us who want to use these have questions about how to properly clean them. I love how your video is down to earth and realistic, not like the damn tampon commercials that make it seem like a period is FUN or COMFORTABLE loll, seriously a good simple from beginning to end tutorial.
My mom is like scared of the topic ig cuz she just gave me 9cloth pads and didn't tell me at all how to care for them, I AHVE been using the same 9 for 3-4years just throwing them in the wash(I put them in the laundry basket immediately after taking them off) they smell so bad during the week(my whole room does infact) I've finally realized I should probably be caring for them a different way. Anyways gonna be doing this from now on.
I bought some reusable pads. This is my second time using them. They are truly soft and so gentle. I have not had an accident with these. It seems as though there was always an issue with store bought pads and some leakage one way or another. So that is a huge difference. Bc I am at home I can manage much easier then if I were going to work. Cleaning them is also easy. Saved $ this month.
Hydrogen peroxide is excellent for removing blood from any clothing. The area it will bubble up. let it sit for a while and it will remove the blood. Simply rinse out with water or do your normal cleansing routine.
You are a wonderful lady to have shown and taught how to clean them so well! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Brave if you and I am truly greatful 💖💫💖
Respect to you for posting such an honest video, I needed this, I just ordered my first set of pads to go along with my menstrual cup trying to be as green as possible while saving money in the long run....thanks 🙂
Hi, I used to soak pads in cold water with salt. I also used washing soap and a nail brush to scrub out stubborn stains. Love the video. I wish I’d been shown this type of video when I was just starting my periods. Thank you x
Thanks for this! I love how intentional you are by having the inner side of the pad black fabric so you can't see the stain! I appreciate this video! God bless! 💜
this is pretty neat. i have to laugh though because I'm at a point in perimenopause when my periods are shockingly heavy. i pictured myself wearing a bolt of fabric.
i'm right there with you. add in a blood disorder that makes me bleed heavier.... ack. i use cloth pads anyway though. it's just a great... and valid... excuse to buy or make more ;) i'm forever finding new ones i love on etsy. lol
dancing pear me too - lol! I just switched to RUMPs and they work great. There are quite a few etsy shops that give the buyer different water-proofing options. So far, so good. Although I won't need them for too many more years, I'm still glad I made the switch.
Christina Martinez-Patterson i don't think I'll ever get to menopause --i started peri in my early 40s. I'm 53 now and it's not wrapping up. my husband is afraid.
I don't use any oxy type of products, but it seems a lot of cloth pad users do. Mine come clean and I only use Dr Bronners for the soak (I'm not gentle with mine, I scrub them by hand before I stain treat) and then ecover to stain treat.
May I offer you an advice? Try to be gentle with your pads because otherwise they won't have a long lifespan. The more careful you are,the more they last. I'm sure you already knew this but I wanted to make sure you do
*For those who wanna try using cloth pads.* ✔️Make sure that you don't use bleach to remove the stains. It will ruin the special fabric *must try* ✔️Use bathing soap instead and just rub the stain off. (works well with *stained panties* too. You won't need to use too much bleach) ✔️Don't iron the cloth pads too it would just ruin the fabric
@@seventeensebong2185 use peroxide. Add it and watch it foam for a min or two and wash well with soap and repeat- if you’re still seeing foam there’s still blood left in the pad. The peroxide will sanitize and remove any odors as well.
@@ascentsolutions3989 no, this is what I do. 1. Soak in Oxi clean. 2. Rinse, spray peroxyde on stained Pads 3. Rinse again 4. Put them in the washer for a normal wash.
I love the designs of your pads! Harry Potter and Jack Skellington 😍😍😍 Newbie here, I'll be ordering my first batch of cotton pads and interlabial pads soon and I'm excited lol. This method of washing looks really easy and not at all time consuming.
Thanks for making these videos and keeping it real! I heard about cloth pads on a cup group after cups didn’t work for me.. immediately came to RU-vid and binged your videos! I just completed my first cycle with cloth and I loved it! It was so comfortable and easy. I already have way too many! Lol all the prints are too cute! I feel like their like Pokémon you got to catch them all lol
Tried these originally for when I was at college I hated the noise disposables made when changing them and of course the plastic waste from them too and I found them to be better than disposables but for some reason (I can't remember why) I stopped using them. But I started using them again and they are fantastic.
That is such a brilliant idea about the wash tub! I'm raising 12 chicks and 2 turkey chicks inside the house until they feather out and can handle the weather outside under their lamp. Each morning I dump their water dish (with poop, food, bedding mixed inside the water) into the large laundry room sink. It just grosses me out to then fill that sink up and wash my pads in there. It's a pet peeve I guess because they are washed in the washing machine after, lol. Oh my word, I'm getting a wash tub. Not only that, but you had such a great way of explaining not to use warm water and why (oops) and which stain remover that works well! I'm cloth pad poor (don't have enough for my entire period yet) I really like menstrual cups, and use those and pads for the first heavy day, then just go onto using solely the cup as it tapers off into lighter days. Been using a cup for like almost 3 years, but yesterday it just refused to sit right and kept leaking, so I decided to purchase more cloth pads for next period, just in case. They're nice to have around anyways! I have a small wet bag for my purse to keep a clean pad inside, and if I'm out I can change out the one I'm wearing for the clean pad, without worrying about what on earth to wrap the used pad in. Yayness. LOL. You had some nice pads (if that's not weird to say) I personally like the Lohan store on etsy, her pads have been wonderful! I bought a few from a different store and they were so thick and uncomfortable I never wear them. Ever. So I have stuck with that store on etsy, in fact I'm heading there now :b
Thanks so much Kate here from South Africa 🇿🇦 I've just heard of this and going to try it this December holiday. I was just wondering how to clean. I was like omw how bad can it be...but after watching your video...it's a go 🤗 I'm chuffed actually it's bothered me for years the waist we make with pads. I recycle everything...so happy. God bless
The Jack Skellington one is my favourite 😂 Also, could you just wash them with your regular laundry? I wash all my clothes in cold water with tide pods.
My style is wash anf brush them immediately. Then soak them with soap and water whole night. If there arestill stains in the morning, my mom told me to soak them in boiled water. I also put lemons/limes brcause sometimes there's a smell left on the cloth. PS my pasador is white or off white so the stains are visible
I personally recommend using hydrogen peroxide and cool/cold water to soak them as hot water can cause the fabric to stain further, then wash them with your delicates after Fair warning though, depending on how much blood is in the fabric, it can have quite a stench while washing with hydrogen peroxide. The smell doesn't stay after washing though as long as you rinse it thoroughly.
@@XOXO-yv2vg I would advise washing them with laundry detergent or a laundry bar if you are able, though I imagine a gentle dish soap would work. Perhaps something like Dawn.
This video was extremely helpful! I do have a few questions however. 1. Do you change these out just as often as regular pads? 2. How many do you use per cycle? 3. Did you buy these or did you make them? 4. Are they super bulky?
Not the uploader but I hope these would help people with the same questions: 1. Yes 2. That would depend on how heavy your flow is and how long it usually last. 3. It's more convenient to buy but if you have the materials and the skill, you can do it yourself. 4. In my own experience, it will depend where you will buy yours. The first one I bought was a bit bulky and the outer material (the part with prints) is somehow stiff, the second set was softer and not that bulky at all.
Just spend three days on sewing pads and put them in the washing mashine to pre wash niw so wish me luck. Also thank you for making that video I am so going to rewatch it when done with my period.
You can make yourself its quit easy. I made all my stash by hand. Some hand sew and others with machine. The material are recycled and the look lonely. If you can't afford your stash just make yourself. Thanks
Cloth pad user for 6+ years and I’ve done it all. To maintain them I like to throw them into a bin after each use and not even bother washing them each day. Once my cycle is over I take the bin to the shower squirt some dawn soap on there and fill out with hot water then I use my hands to agitate and squeeze the pads and swish them around I empty it and do that one or two more times drain the water take the bin to the washer dump them in use regular detergent of your choice + oxy powdered detergent like the Ariel kind do a hot cycle with two rinses throw in the dryer and call it a day. I obviously disinfect and clean my tub out after (I like to use a spray bottle with 10-20% bleach rest water spray the tub let it sit for like 5 mins and then rinse the tub) washing every pad or everyday took too much time and the method I use I’ve never had a stain and I have the exact pads I started this journey with so that tells you a lot. If you have a pad that you think will stain what I do is use a zote bar rub it all over the pad real good before putting them in the wash as an added step. I use hot water and I’ve never had any stains? I’m also very hard on them I beat the crap out of them I’m never gentle and not one stitch came undone in 6+ years.
Thinking of going reusable but my periods are like monsters. Sometimes I have to wear an ultra tampon with a super long overnight pad at the same time and change them both after 2 hrs. Idk how I stay alive 😂
I have a menstrual cup and it's such a pain in the arse but it's better for the environment- I'm watching this because I need to use cloth pads with mY menstrual cup because I over flow after like an hour or two and I can't always change it if I'm out
I had similar issues and I take birth control pills now literally for that exact reason and now I don’t bleed hardly at all or have cramps ever. I have planned periods every 4 months and I barely even need pads then (which is why I’m looking at this because i feel like it’s a waste for safety’s sake) so look into alternatives it’s changed my life
there's suuuuuuuuper huge, super padded cotton reusable pads too! they're usually the same size, but way more absorptive. when I went reusable, I ended up spending more time between changing them out.
I love your videos, I am going to try and use this method to was my cloth pads as the method I've been using has been leading to staining so this was a highly helpful video xx
I like the idea of cloth pads. One it wont move around bc it snaps to your underwear. Is it more difficult to clean and does it show through your clothes say wearing sweat pants or something. Do they have a pretty high absorbancy without being like a mega overnight pad size?
Glamrgrl104 Check out the channel " Precious Stars Pads " and look for the can you see colts pads through... videos. She has done jeans, leos, and leggings. Plus a few others I think.
I'm very confused! All this time I think I've been wearing mine the wrong way! I hardly ever have stains because I use the black soft side next to my skin... ? I seems to work great. Once I got tired of rinsing after each one and tried just soaking them all in cold water after "moon time" was over instead, like you did in your video (i had not thought of using oxi clean) and then do my usual soaking them in vinegar with a few drops of tea tree oil before laundering. Soaking them all at once in the water overnight made them all stain solid red so I tried bleaching them... then they leaked like crazy as if I was wearing just toilet paper!! NEVER BLEACH... NOTE TO SELF! So I'm going to try wearing mine the other way around now and trying oxi-clean like you do... I'm a bit confused to wear them the opposite side because the pretty material side is not as soft. I only have two that are soft on that side... thanks for your video and for being brave enough to help others like me!! I was just bumbling around on my own until I braved searching for some help!!
JacobAndNancy there was a video on RU-vid for how to tell which way is up that I watched and the kind I have the fleece should be up according to the video, it depends on where the tag and reinforcement stitching is
I love using my cloth pads as directed. Surprisingly, I don't have to do a lot of pre treating, just rinsing out blood and tossing them into the washing machine as directed. I bought mine from Amazon and got great pads for the cost and quality. Thank goodness they exist and thank you for teaching us how to pre treat if we need too. Kindest Regards, Aiden Alamo
it's great for that because you can just take the bowl and put it in your room out the way- if you share or have friends around, you can cover the bowl with a plastic bag or something, or tuck it under your bed out the way
I was told to rinse them when i was done with them, and i tried that with the first pad i used. But it was just lying there, nasty and wet (and musty and horrible), so trying this now. Hopefully this is more gentle toward the pads, too! Excited to see if mine will come out looking like that, though, haha! 😂😂
Just to make sure I’ve got it right. You do this to get the blood out, then once that’s done.you put it with your laundry to wash as normal? I’m considering switching because how pricey Period products are.
Great video,I've seen it so many times. As a stain remover I use oxygen bleach from Lidl, very cheap and gets all the stains out. I use Chinese pads (I bought from Amazon and didn't check the seller and I kept them when I found out, they were already used) and recently I find that my pads smell like raw egg,I wash them by hand and when my period ends,I throw them in the washing machine. I use a Chante Clair eco detergent to clean them, maybe it's not cleaning them properly?? I switched to Soap de Marseille liquid detergent, hoping if would clean them better. I do want to emphasize that no blood is left on the fabric so they're not dirty after I finish washing them and I do wash myself several times a day, especially in the summer,to prevent sweat odor and such. So,what do you think? Is the detergent the problem? Or it's the fact they're Chinese and therefore not that high quality? I never had issues with blood soaking through or whatever, they're perfect.
Thank you for posting this video. I love all your pad designs. Where did you get them? Did you make them? Where can I get that stain remover with the scrub brush?
I prefer washing them, when they're not dry yet, first with just water then natural soap, and let them dry under the sun, I noticed when let them dry and use directly soap the stains become really hard to remove.
allthingsRUMPs thank you for the link. it's nice to see how well they work and that the stains come out. I would also like to add that you are one of only 2 RU-vidrs that have ever answered me back so that's very awesome! hope your having a good day!
How long do they last? I mean every use! They usually say 8 hrs but they usually dont last that much and how do you keep them qhen your out of your house!?🙈🙊😁
I'm totally new to the idea of cloth pads. I'm thinking of changing to cloth pads from disposable ones for the sake of reusability and eco-friendly reasons and mainly because this seems like a safer option. I have a few doubts though. *What do you do with the used ones when you're out or traveling and can't wash them but have to change? *How do you keep the used ones till you can wash them? * Do you wash them all at once or as and when possible? It would be really helpful to know how people who use them do.
They sell zippered "wetbags" that are used for storing the dirty pads until you get home. They come in multiple sizes and theres also big ones for storing dirty pads at home. I try to wash all of mine at once when I've run out or close to running out of clean ones, or as soon as I can after my period ends.
It's nice when you wear something you like though... like I don't even mind my periods because of all the cute pads I've been making and collecting. It's just another reason to let go of those boring disposables ☺
@Alleah Fuentes. As others have mentioned above, you can always make your own! Find a print that you really like at the store, and choose your core material (for absorbency) and your backing material. Waterproof lining can be added in optional if you prefer the added security to make sure it doesn't leak through the back, but there are a lot of people who don't use a waterproof lining and they still work just fine as long as you have a good backing material. There are many videos on RU-vid teaching how to make your own Pattern a how to sew it together (there are videos for both hand sewn and machine sewn, whatever you prefer).
thx for tips just a question how many pads are you using roughly i know its individual but just to give me an idea how many i have to sew for future. I absolutely love the idea of never buying a disposable. every woman, baby or elderly should go cloth. so much landfill crazy if you think about it.
They are all so pretty.. i live wizh my family and firrst i had to make mine all by my self and second I need to clean them all by hand bc my mom dont want them to be in our washingmashine or use single use pads when my cup is leaking
Don’t they get stinky just wearing them. Or leaving them in the wet bag just wondering bc I live with a lot of ppl lol want to know this plz before if I switch thank you!!
If you roll and lock the pads the minute you take them off and then put them in a washbag, so long as you keep the bag away from any heaters you shouldn't be able to smell them 😊
@@sugarcandy654 its not ideal. Its better to put them into soak straight away, but if you're working and not at home a lot, live in shared accommodation or you don't have much room for a soak bowl then rolling and storing them in a washbag is far more convenient. Then you soak and wash then getting rid of any blood or bacteria all in one go at the end of your cycle.
I noticed with my pads they had a really bad build up of white using this method i stoped using oxy clean and just rinsed them out till there was no blood left use a stain stick and threw them in a washer with washing powder
Hi thank you for this video! Do you recommend immediately soaking each pad as you use them or do you store the used ones in the bag until your cycle is over? Thanks again 🌸
This is such a wonderful video!! Thank you so much for showing everything the way it really is. I have a question though. Do you know what the core in your pads are made of? I am going to make my own. I can't wait! Some people like bamboo fleece, some use zorb 1, some old towels and flannel. Thanks!!
Thank you so much!! I've starting using cloth and I love it. I even got my two teenage daughter to try them when I showed them your video and how easy it is to wash and keep them. Thanks again!!!
