There's something so relaxing about this video lol. I use Honda Polish but noting gets everything nearly as good as good Ole soap and water. the Honda Polish I use is for touch ups in between washes.
Yes you can wash your bike with a shampoo weekly if you like, but there would be no need to reapply the wax weekly. Depending on wax or sealant you use, you have 2-6 months of protection. Now if your washing your car every week, make sure to keep your chain lubed frequently.
Wow brotha, it looks cold. I can see the "cold breath" in the video when you are brushing (cleaning) the front brakes. Thank you for the tips how to wash my motorcycle. Haha I think we would be friends then! I also detail on the side and use a PC 7424. I keep my evo flawless, but the speed triple is black and we all know how black is to maintain, plus I have no idea how much clear coat triumph used on that thing. So correcting on my bike isn't my top priority. I know what you mean though, most motorcyclist aren't as OCD about paint as long as the bike is running haha. Whereas for me, that shit haunts me in my dreams
I haven't washed a bike with anything but a light spray cleaner (Meguire's EZ clean) and a microfiber cloth, or a plastic razor and a citrus cleaner for the really stuck on stuff. I haven't put water on a bike in over 10 years, and if I do end up in a rain situation, I take the wheels off and clean the hubs and use chain cleaner and apply fresh lube to both the axles and the chain/sprockets. But maybe I'm a bit too obsessive, idk.
It's generally not considered a good idea to use a pressure washer on bikes. At least not a powerful one. They have been known to break seals and get water into the electronics and places you really don't want water. Apart from that, the safety aspect and separating what brushes you use is a good mention. Had I not watched this I likely would've made that mistake by just trying to wring them out each time😅
+mmdirtyworkz Yes you do if your at the point where you already need too. If you lubed it recently no need to do it again even after you washed your bike, because remember your avoiding your chain area from degreasers etc
Still looking for a definitive guide on this. Everyone does it differently. What about electronics? what do you cover? Many videos say to clean/ lube the chain before washing? WHY? Wont water wash away any lube? Handle bar switches are not waterproof. I know motorcycles are made for rain, but ever take one apart that has some mileage? Dust and dirt gets in there and adding water created mud or more buildup over time. You can never get it all out. Power washing can force water into exposed connectors, causing electrical shorts as well as expedite corrosion or rust...etc. I can go on and on. I like this video, but my brain thinks there has to be a better way to keep a bike clean and preserve its longevity. I liked this video, but as I look to doing my first ever wash on my new (110 miles) motorcycle (my first bike ever), I'm looking for clear and concise answers.
Good video, just a little hesitant on putting rim cleaner on a tire. I thought rim cleaners were very caustic and can easily damage or leave the tire surface with not as much traction
I'm watching this video to learn how to properly wash my first and new bike. It makes me kind of unease to start pouring water over my bike I can't stop thinking about rust and stuff.
Don't worry about that. These bikes are all designed with rain in mind so you can put your fears to rest :-) just make sure when using a pressure washer do not go on 0° points and point it at any of your electronics

I currently use a ultrasonic device which can read depth over various materials (carbon fiber, plastic etc) they are a bit pricey (1000+) but worth it imho. do some digging, finding a deal shouldn't be too hard.

The only thing i dissagree with is using any kind of cleaner on the tires as i could make the tires slippery. I myself get my bike detailed in burlington at KDetailPlus as they use zero chemicals only micro fiber towls and steam. I recommend at the end of the riding season to stop by this place as steam can clean places that just ordinary soap and water cannot get.

Great "how to" video! I ride year round and live in Ohio so I'm riding in rain, some snow and sometimes a mix of road salt and chemicals. I'm not interested in "best" appearance during the winter, but I am interested in knowing your thoughts about the best way to wash and prevent corrosion when the weather isn't great. I'm also wondering what you think the best way to remove light corrosion is? I have very small amounts of corrosion on the brake rotors, on the exhaust and the rear sprocket. Thanks for any ideas your have!
I know this is a very late reply, but I highly recommend ACF-50 or similar products to anyone who reads this and thinks about how to prevent corrosion. You can apply them in a mist (cover the brakes and wheels first!) and you will get excellent protection against salt and other corrosive agents. Some people don't even bother to wash the bike and just apply ACF-50 (or again some other product) and their bikes are rust-free...
Nice to see someone show how to safely wash a bike. There are plenty of videos where they use a brush on the wheels and that same brush on the paint. Can only imagine how swirled up their paint will be!
is there any way to wash a motorcycle/scooter without using water. Basically, is there any dry washing machine for two wheelers? please someone suggest.
+Lidnley Carmona Hey Lidnley few of my friends also had the same question. As long as you're keeping your good distance from the motorcycle and are not using a pinpoint pressure setting and instead using the fan setting you will be fine. Again just mentally avoid spraying directly at any intakes xcetera. Treat the pressure washer in your scenario as a way to Simply pre-soak the bike instead of pressure washing.

I've never washed my sportbike. Like never washed it with a hose like that. That bike might look nice but pull those fairing and look at the hard to get areas and I bet it's all fucked up. My bike is a 04 and looks pretty clean and I don't even do much to clean it. Best thing is to just wipe a bike down with a microfiber after every ride, unless it's really dirty. And for bugs I let a warm towel soak on them for 10-15 minutes to soften them up.

Just curious as what air blower you were using. Looking to get one myself without breaking the bank. I like the paint brush idea, makes getting those hard spots a little easier.
depending on your bike and how exposed your chain is you may want to go ahead and apply some lube after the washing process. in this case here I did not but depending on if your chain is dry and stripped of its Loop you may need to re lube Lube your chain :) *text to speech forgive me for the typos
Nice video! Subscribed! Awesome bike too. I prefer washing my BMW s1000rr and r6. A lot of people do waterless wash to prevent water from getting to the electronics. Is a pressure washer safe to use?

On the matte finish panigale you have to use a specific wax. Chemical Guys has lots of matte finish specific products you can use :-) congratulations on the 899 panigale, I miss mine so much :( WELCOME TO THR CHANNEL 👌
Hey I've got a KTM duke 125. Do you think that waxing the plastic tank make sense? Or I will just lose my time and have no better result then washing it normally?
Good video although I wouldn't faff with a brush on spokes/wheels they are just too tight to fit a brush in there. I find a microfibre works so much easier. Otherwise all good 👍
