Would love to see a video about the most efficient way to clean a house over the course of a day like if you were hired, from beginning to end. What do I do first? Second?
I've been told before to use dental tablets in my toilet bowl as they break down limescale the same way they break down plaque, but I never thought about water bottles!
I don't understand the detailed breakdown of basic cleaning, but denture cleaning tablets are a great idea. That would make the normal chore of cleaning them in a bathroom sink in a hotel room a whole lot easier.
I don't wear dentures but I'm going to the Dollar Tree today to buy the fizzy cleaning tablets. I need to deep clean all my water bottles. Very satisfying video 🤓😍
How did it work? I have partials and those tablets don't really do much actual cleaning without scrubbing. Maybe they disinfect, idk. I usually soak, scrub, rinse.
Denture tablets work well, but powdered dishwasher detergent works well also. I know, we are all using pods now, but if you DO happen to still use the powder (like me), then it works really well for cleaning insulated mugs, coffee pots, thermoses, etc. Works best if you can use near-boiling hot water.
The dental tablets on most of the parts is fine. Where I have significant concerns is the Dawn Powerwash. As effective as that stuff is I cannot believe they won’t issue cancer warnings, hormonal issues or something in a few years. The stuff burns my nose while using it and makes me sneeze. And washing the straw with it, a porous surface, I do not believe a quick rinse adequately removed the residue it absorbs. Maybe some hydrogen peroxide (cheaper) instead, but I am not using Dawn Powerwash.
I was one of the first people to figure this out, and I have been passing it on for decades. I was working in a gear shop in college and water bladders had recently hit the market. Camelback had expensive cleaning tabs to sell with the bladder. We tested one out in the shop, and I realized it was the same stuff my grandma used for her dentures. I went to the grocery down the street and we tried them out. The same results for pennies.
Thanks. Camelback probably relabels a similar product with a higher price. My friends always tease me about reading contents, then looking for a more cost effective solution. 😅
Great video, thank you! I was just wondering what the difference is between using dental cleaning tablets and just hand washing the cup and the small parts with regular dish soap (like how you washed the straw)?
I think an ultrasonic cleaner would work as well as the tablets too if you got one. I have a small ultrasonic cleaner, so i think ill use it on the lid parts.
I'll need to check out the dental tablets for my plastic water bottles. I've used mouthwash when I wanted to do a deeper clean on them, but it kinda works into the plastic and then my water tastes a bit minty for the next several uses. But the dental tablets should in theory have even less of a taste and more importantly be even more effective at cleaning while still disinfecting
Just put the pieces in a tub of soapy water wash them and forbthe inside use a mr. Clean sponge especially if you drink coffee it will remove all staining from the coffee!
I love using dental tablets to clean lots of things. Just let it do its work while you do something else, then come back , rinse and dry!! Anything we can do to save time and scrubbing!
Hmm, how about just put the whole mug in a container so the inside/outside are both cleaned by the tablet? Great idea, especially for cleaning pn the go.
I just wash them after every use just like every other utensil and other kitchenware. Most important is to dry them well (if you put them away with a few drops of water in them it won’t go wrong every time but it will go wrong eventually.)
I usually buy Bottle Bright tablets, very similar. I even sent a package to my husband when he was deployed overseas so the guys could keep their insulated coffee mugs clean.
Ive use those for years... but you are doing it wrong. Instructions are clear and say to use 1 full tablet per 6-8oz. And why wouldnt you put the straw in the cup with the cleaner, then use the brush? Also, the instructions say to soak for 15 minutes to get fully clean.
So long winded. just pour a kettle of boiling water into a kitchen bowl, add washing up liquid, clean with a cloth. Few minutes from start to finish. Why complicate such mundane tasks like this.
I absolutely loath lids like that. Wouldn't buy them if they were the only cups left to buy. So germy. And a pain in the a** to fiddle with. I'm disabled and I cut corners everywhere I can in life to make living easier for me. I'm not going to own anything that's harder to clean than necessary. I hate dishwashers. Idc what they say, dishwashers ruin everything. And every straw brush I ever had looses bristles easily. I don't want loose bristles getting stuck in straws, or anywhere, that could have adverse affects. In a stainless straw, it would flush out but silicone and certain thick plastic ones have a kind of sticky surface, stuff gets stuck to it.
geesh your make to much out of this and over thinking. Take itall apart yes then take each part and scrub it clean with hot water and soap such as dawn and your done. Let dry and put it back together. Dude please clean the buttom of you stanley it's dirty, all that dirt in the grooves nasty.
Thanks for the great tip! I was wondering how this works for cleaning insulated coffee carafes and insulated cups. All of mine have a strong patina that I'm keen on disolving but not sure as to how most easily do it...
I find the flavor in a stainless steel cup for example hangs around some. What helps is to spray some vinegar on the cup at the end. Then rinse after letting it sit for a little while.
I just use powdered dishwasher soap in mine. And hot water. Just buy powdered dishwasher soap for your dishwasher and there are hundreds of other uses for it, plus it works better on dishes than tabs and is cheaper.
Thank you so much for a very good demonstration. I just followed along and I feel so much better. I have not done this to this detail ever I don’t wanna think that my water was disgusting but it might’ve been. I know better I’ll do better. Thank you.
I’m soooo grossed out buy adult and children ‘sippy cups’. 🤮. I see the lid thrown into the dish washer without even taken apart. I’ve tasted the water from my grandbabies cups and it tastes disgusting.
Can I use those tablets for things like a keurig water reservoir or my robot vac mop dirty water reservoir? The latter gets quite gross after a week & a tad smelly.
Who isn’t cleaning their reusable cups/bottles? If it’s anything other than water, it gets washed before using it. I’ll wash it every other day if I’m drinking water.
I use bleach water in a spray bottle. Remove the rubber gaskets, spray & clean with a small brush. Wash in soapy water, rinse & dry. Might try this instead.
Clean that - You don't need pills just use a 2 to 1 solution of water and white vinegar. It kills everything you don't want in your cup. If you really crave the scrubbing bubbles add a little baking powder at the end.
I would really love to know. Do you have a home remedy or anything to prevent sugar ants? I am sick of vacuuming my hand on spreading much everyday. And I live in a rental house? So I don't like keep playing for a pest control.
Borax powder near the cracks they're coming in through, if you can see it. Otherwise, just a light dusting of borax along the walls, under the sink, etc... Worked wonders on the sugar ants that were coming into the office at my last job.
