*Don't let anyone create opinions for you. Watch these shows for yourself and decide for yourself. It is very tiring to see people say "Don't watch this show, its garbage". No because clearly many of these shows have their own fans and you might end up being one of them. So....good luck.* - Rise, 2015
+Master Morgoth It may be because of your expectations, because G Reco and Turn A have writing styles which differ from particular works like Zeta even though it's by the same person. It's like Ideon, made by Tomino too, but very different writing compared to King Gainer.
***** True, and I am not interested in telling everyone that what the creator is absolute junk, but rather that I found it painful to watch. Just as everyone tries to tell me that Seed/Destiney were piles of garbage that can burn in a giant hole. I found those shows to be flawed but good. I loved 00 and Unicorn though.
+Master Morgoth Seed was good, yes it had problems but it was enjoyable. Destiny... was alright to watch, but it took most of Seed's problems and made them worse. My biggest gripes with the show is how the writers lost interest in the main character half way through and just swapped back to Kira because why not, and then the plot and ending is almost copy and paste from Seed. Yes Final Plus KIND OF helped the ending but not really. I'm not going to tell you that you can't enjoy Seed and Destiny as I personally enjoyed Seed and really love Stargazer, but Destiny has very big flaws and is in no way a good Gundam series or just a show in general. Again I'm not trying to say anything against you enjoying the show. I watched it before I did Seed and enjoyed it then, my opinions just changed greatly after watching Seed and going back to it. So I'm not going to say no you can't enjoy it, anyone has their own opinions and things they enjoy and like, it's just when people say "this is really great because of so and so" I'm going to pop out and go not it's not lol. I will end this off by saying that the reason G-Reco may have been hard for you is because of the pacing. This is something that a lot of us thought may be the case while it was airing and it turned out to be true later, but it was originally planned to be 50(+) episodes and got condensed to 26 because of constraints. Likely due to sharing it's budget with Gundam Build Fighters Try airing at the same time.
***** No I didn't like G because I got tired of the character's illogical decisions. But now that you mention it the pacing did seem really forced. Which I guess would explain why the characters were illogical.
this is my first time for anime. Iam here because I love interstellar 5555 by daft punk. so is there any certain series which is tend to more set in the outer space rather natural earth. and more vague and surreal ? the character of the movie, I hope at least close to interstellar 5555. and it would be greati if the time set at post apocalyptic world. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, ITS ONLY PRODUCE AT 2D RENDERING, MEANING NOT COMBINED WITH 3D RENDERING. sorry for capslock.
@@sagonsachetan1295 I would reccomend you take a look at Space Dandy. Aren't you limiting yourself a bit in a weird way though?Instead of wanting a specific type of story or genre you limit your reccomendations to setting and animation style.
Only circle jerk im a part of is the dislike for ZZ, G Gundam and Wing. Don't like any of those shows. Second half of ZZ is tolerable for me but by god is the first half totally infuriating for me.
Honestly there’s too much gundam media. So much of it has to be shit. I’d rather be warded off and watch the good stuff rather than waste time on stuff that was just pumped out to sell toys
I really love what you said at the end. To many times we berate are fellow Gundam fans for liking series we don't. We need to remember we're all in this great family of Gundam watchers together.
Bright Starsong We need to come to a realization that of course others will have views different from our own. Honestly I've noticed people missed that point in G Reco, just because they are our beliefs, doesn't mean they're right.
Awesome, I've always wanted to check out Gundam but OCD demands I watch chronologically. This helped immensely! Watching 0079 now, and Origin was great.

Unicorn was sooooo good! It was my first foray into the UC Universe. It made me want to see all the past events that were referenced in it. This video is so helpful. Now I know where to start. Thanks man!
I enjoy the universal century very much. I appreciate the large scale story it contains and feels like it's a progressive universe. Zeta Gundam, both MS and show would be my favorite of the bunch.
Absolutely the best Gundam related channel ever!!! I love how you tell people to watch and form your own bond with these shows because a lot of people are so quick to dismiss them. Cheers!
WOW! Thanks so much. I started the other day by buying the first gundam series part 1. Son I'll buy part 2 and Zeta part 1 and 2. I hope they release all this on blu ray too.
That's a really a good idea to make this video, a lot of young people think that gundam is only seed and OO. I think that's really sad because the UC have so much, great themes, Memorable characters and follow the evolution of the humanity. I know (and understand) that's some people have problems with Tomino style (and it's true that in some show like reconguista you need to read interviews and rewatch episode to understand the plot), but Unicorn become so much interesting when you know what happens before and after in the UC. Anyway thank you for that's video and i hope some people will try to watch the UC gundams series.
Xan Bie Thanks, and I do hope this videos can help more people get into UC. Although Unicorn was made with an intention to be semi stand alone, it still needed knowledge of previous shows in order to have the greater experience. A lot of younger viewers do need to be introduced to this great timeline, though they'll need a push in order to do so.
Satanic Domain We don't truly have enough information to make that guess, but given the things Megabots plan to do to the MK 2, the MK 2 has the advantage. I don't have an opinion on huskies
Today marks my first day into the Gundam marathon I'll see you on the other side I will comment on this comment when I'm done. See you in a year or two.
Great video. Usually I would say to stop watching after Unicorn (Since it feels like the final chapter of the UC saga), but you make a good point. Give all shows a try. Worst case scenario you only waste an hour or two out of your life.
dnightwalker I actually liked Victory....and F91 was surely gorgeous and would probably have been a very good series if the show wasn't cancelled and forced into a movie.
Now after watching all of the uc I can safely tell you all that there isn't such thing like ''a skipable gundam'' all of them are good in their own way and although some start slower than others they're all equally worth to watch, yes even victory and ZZ

Not only am I a huge fan of this show, I am a die hard fan of Gunpla builds. When I was young, I originally only saw Gundam Wing... I began building gunpla (nothing too special) towards the end of 2017 I found a gunpla build after I had been playing Gundam Verses. The timing was perfect, not only was this a 1/100 build, but it was Wing Zero Endless Waltz (with the bird like wings) My passion for these inspirational figures was re kindled. Gundams have a common goal in most of the series. To protect those who cannot protect themselves. I bought a small fortune worth of Gunpla, and anything that is used to make the kits look authentic. I have been finding all the Gundam series anime and studying them also. Your video is good advice IMO. The Gundam series's are all very special in their own way. Even G Gundam which I found to be a little over the top. It was very special and the message that is in these different interpretations of Gundam, is one of understanding. It teaches us that most people who are considered "enemies" (for whatever reasons) are actually just normal people who are being used to fight the wars of the rich and powerful. They have families and have often suffered a great deal of loss because of the pride of the ruling class.
Great video, and thanks for the link! I went and watched all your other videos as well and I'm really looking forward to the next one. One thing though, the 'true' Gaia Gear would be the novels by Yoshiyuki Tomino and the radio drama is an adaptation with some differences (the Wikipedia article has summaries of the novels, so you can compare them).
Another awesome video Rise! I still need to fully watch the UC timeline as most of my knowledge of the events come from the SRW games. Thankfully with all of Gundam now getting a proper release it'll be alot easier to watch it all :) Keep up the awesome work man! :)
Every time I watch your video, I will surely shed my tears because Gundam series especially the UC timeline is my life. Thank you again for uploading. Keep it up!!
djemba Do you mean 00? Although I would say they don't have much of a connection. If we go by the Turn A being the end point, we can assume that elevators were just destroyed and rebuilt. Although the Turn A theory only applies to shows which came before, it gets weird when we account other shows which came after Turn A.
***** no, i mean, there was an episode when Loran and co. found an ancient tower and there's a legend about en evil came from the sky. So, I supposed that can be used as foreshadowing for g-reco?
djemba Well through speculation yes, though something like that may never be confirmed. When they talked about evil from the sky they probably just meant the moon race and beyond. Though it is similar to G Reco and their colony people.
I like your style. Experience for yourself and form your own opinion. All Gundam is good Gundam for different reasons, some of those reasons just resonate more with some than they might with others.
Wow, Im VERY IMPRESSED , a friend of mine helped me get into Gundam a few years ago, he's name is WackyModder84, and well you got the order perfectly. =) I'm glad to see this kinds of videos on RU-vid, since I'm tired of seeing people getting into Gundam with WRONG animes. Great video.
You might have not known this but Zeta Gundam has spawn a movie trilogy known as A New Translation which made some changes to make the story flow better. The biggest change the Zeta Gundam compliation movie did was the ending where Sirocco dies a normal death and Kamilie isn't reduced to a catatonic state.
Very nice video and keep up the good work! I'm rewatching the UC now; half way through the Zeta. Alternate timelines are fine, but UC is still the best IMHO.
Your list inspired me to start watching Zeta Gundam, I watched Gundam 0079 back on Toonami years ago but completely missed out on Zeta. I'll probably watch the Trilogy sometime too just to round everything out.
According to the wiki: - G-Saviour is in an alternate UC Timeline - Turn A takes place around 3000 years after the Universal Century - Reconguista in G takes place in between the Universal Century and the Correct Century
and now you have to add Gundam NT, which comes out in 2 weeks, taking place a couple years after Unicorn, AND Hathaway's flash, which is confirmed to be getting a movie trilogy starting next year.
Thanks a lot for this list, i want to get into more mecha anime and the mobile suit gundam series are a great way to get into it. Not only is it a long-running franchise but it has so much cool stuff, first time i ever encountered gundams was dynasty warriors gundam 3. It made me want to get into the mobile suit gundam series and this video of yours helped me to put the entire list down in the correct order, so i'm going to start watching when i have the time.
Unicorn is a good way to start for anyone who is new to the Gundam series in my opinion. Re:0096 can stand on its own well as it only makes references of the past UC when it is necessary. Unicorn is perfect midpoint If a viewer wants to know more of its backgound, they can watch previous while go further if they want to know what happens after Unicorn. Moreover, it has nice moral conflict and great soundtracts.
Great video as always. I always find some interesting new tidbit of information every time a new video comes out. Keep up the good work! Anyways, is it possible you'll tackle other obscure gundam material in the future like Advance of Zeta, Gundam Sentinel, Frozen Teardrop, SD Gaiden etc. You know, I'm just throwing this out there. But yeah great stuff. "This channel isn't just for show" lol
Gian Carlo Laforteza I can totally do so, although things like Advance of Zeta would be a bit harder to do considering it was cancelled, now have some new relaunch of whatever they're doing with it. I am semi at the mercy of whoever translates them.
You understand what exactly is universal century and the original timeline stories are always better........ I hope Tomino release the original reconguista story in the visual novel just like what he did to the CCA original story.
I have an interesting suggestion. Watch mobile suit gundam the origin episode 5 and 6 before you start the movie trilogy. It highlights all of the things about the one year war that are only really alluded to in the show/trilogy movies.
You forgot to add G-saviour on the description lels Awesome video bruh this will help a lot for my friends currently confused with uc's timeline. Keep it up!
cool video. And so true on forming opinions on something yourself. I've been watching gundam lately and just started Turn A. So far i'm not impressed but hey it's gundam so i'm going to watch it and enjoy it.
Universal Century Gundam setting is definitely my favorite among Gundam shows. And now we can add Gundam Thunderbolt ONA series to the list. After Gundam Origin OVA series, I seriously hope they make Crossbone Gundam OVA series, at least the first manga series, after making some changes.
extraleague01 I would honestly want a full on series rather though considering there's a lot with crossbone gundam in turn in chapters unlike gundam thunderbolt and it's short chapters crossbone gundam chapters aren't entirely
I try to made an new Universal Century Gundam series after Gundam Unicorn and Gundam Hathaway Flash. The titel is Gundam Overdrive. The year takes place at the end of 0107 to early 0108 U.C Even my series had an sequel. Gundam Overdrive Final. This Gundam serie takes place at end 0108 tot begin 0109 U.C The Original series is an Anime Television series. The sequel Gundam Overdrive Final is an OVA with 7 ep.
Gundam as a franchise has a huge variance in quality. On one hand there are certain series that I regard as some of the best of all time if not at least amongst the best in their respective eras of anime. On the other hand there are some that are really poopy dogshit (Build Fighters). There are also some series I love that others feel indifferent about and others that people love that I think are kind of tropey trash and are a vehicle to slap the Gundam name on without any regard for what it’s about. There are a few goofy spin-offs I enjoy and there are other mecha shows worth watching, but I’d say watch a series that has a premise you think sounds good and skip what you think looks boring. Then later you can go back to what you’ve missed. In real life we don’t know the entire history of everything and we go along just fine just having contained knowledge. Approach Gundam with the same mentality
nice I wondered how it all fit haha. I actually started with build fighters and then watched thunderbolt, not knowing what was what.....that was a jarring experience
I find it amazing whenever I watch something about Gundam they always use the music from Unicorn, and it is so awesome that everyone finds the music by Sawano Hiroyuki as beautiful as I do
Well, this is a neat video. I want to get into UC. However, I've heard that I shouldn't watch Origin first. While chronologically, it takes place FIRST in the timeline, and while I hear it's a very good movie series, there are a bit of spoilers involving Char in the movie. I'll probably watch the original series first. Yeah, it's not "canon", but I hear it's still good regardless, and as such I'll probably be checking out the Blu-Rays.
+Supersaiyan4mario Yah, Origin is really nice, but of course it has contradictions to the main timeline. But some of the events in it did happen, it's just not exactly how it was displayed there. Honestly you don't need to watch it first, if anything it's something you can watch after you finish the main Gundam titles. Always nice to return to a certain period.
Thank you for this video I just stated watching gundam this summer after I was done with Seed/Destiny,00, And Wing I started watching stuff in the UC and I Just finished the original show 2 days ago and I'm on Episode 12 of Zeta
thank you for putting it in order. iam a huge fan for the UC time line. I just hope that they will make an anime or OVA addaptation of crossbone and CDA
I love how he uses the unicorn music in the video Unicorn is the best and O hope they make a UC time line plus where it carries on the story but writers can make a new cannon and red con it :)
Hey man I just wanna say ill support you early on in your RU-vid career! So i won't be that person who jumped on the ban wagon lol. So I will comment in your future videos a lot so you don't forget me! lol looking forward to a good friendship together in the future. :)
everyone always talks about how hard and confusing it is to get into fate and the monogatari series, meanwhile here i am about to have a stroke trying to figure gundam out smh
+Jose Espinal I won't agree that it was bad, because styles and ways fiction can be explored is almost infinite, so it wasn't bad, it just wasn't in ones taste. It was world/character building, which eventually let us go into a full dive and find a whole new experience within the show.
If you never saw Gundam as kid, either via videos or midnight run/toonami/adult swim i feel bad, first one i saw was Gundam Wing but once i found the U.C. timeline and the whole One Year war that is what cemented me into a gundam fan , all the series dealing with the one year war are usually good but War in the Pocket is by far one of the best gundam series as the drama, the plot and the characters themselves are memorable
Oh wow, the final episode of G Reco is being redone? Was not aware; if Tomino is extending the episode, I think that would help a fair bit. I do love G Reco already, if there's some extended episodes that'd be even better.
To anyone whos interested rightstuf has both parts of zeta gundam on blu ray up for preorder if you have their $12 membership its 4 off making it 44 per 25 episode set not bad considering some of the more ridiculous prices ive seen oh and as long as your not in iowa I think no tax and free shipping over $50
Victory Gundam is in my opinion the proof that one should not write a story while suffering from depression. But it had a lot of interesting MS designs. Why so many people think so highly about Turn-A is beyond me, i dropped it halfways and never got any interest again. Interesting side note: one of the designers was the same American that worked on Blade Runner.
Sim. Frischh Thanks I think that's the best thing about UC gundam is politics its not black and white situation there's a grey line and blurs the line between good and bad regrading both opposing factions.
Welp I only known the UC timeline with a SD Gundam anime back in cartoon network and video games with research like Gundam Universe so thanks for the recommendation to start.
if you put this info into a chart and had the chart as a visual that we could pause on, that would be very useful. As it stands it was kind of hard to keep it all straight as someone who is very new to the subject.
