I purchased the Magic Box and the remote for my 2021 Ram 1500 Limited, and purchased a wifi package for like $15/mo…and had so many issues trying to get RU-vid videos to play and Netflix. It would work sometimes and other times it wouldn’t. I was told by a rep with Magic Box that it wasn’t necessary to have a WiFi plan for the truck, itself, and that I could just connect via Bluetooth and then Mirror/Cast-- I have an IPhone 13 or 14 Pro Max and had so many issues that I eventually just gave up on it… I originally purchased it to have movies/videos playing while we traveled a few times a year & it’s honestly been more headache than it’s worth…. Now I have $400 worth of junk that just sits, unused… This is just my personal experience and opinion…. So I’d recommend doing your own research as It’s possible I’ve done something wrong and that’s the reason I’m not having any success. Anyways, good luck to anyone that’s looking into a similar set up.
I’m not sure you have found the solution for the iPhone 2.4 situation but if you go to your hotspot on your phone you click “maximize compatibility” under the hotspot section of iPhone. Also do you still recommend this product? Link for it?
Nice video, I have a 2013 Town & Country that has an HDMI input. I installed a Roku device and can watch live TV and streaming services on the drop-down VES monitor at all times, as well as front display in park.
Hey, how do I message you to get the name and source of the carplay box u were installing on the Ram to watch movies and such? Like u said there are a lot of junk ones out there.. I want to run this on my TRX.. and be able to surf the web from my u-connect5 console.. I assume this works on U5 platform?? shoot me a message thanks a ton.
Eddie, how do I DM Raj to get one? Is that an Instagram thing? I don't have instagram. Is he on facebook? That's the only social media platform I have.
@@omarc8712 I'm all about the dude getting his commission but I want to buy from a reputable company that can provide support if there is a problem not someone I DM on Instagram and send money through Paypal or something.
I was working in alpine 2019-2020 and seen your truck at albertsons one day! Looked soo good I had to get one! Thanks for the little nudge I needed lol.
2.4G or 5G is not software driven, it is hardware driven. if you open up that little box you should find a little WIFI device plugged into the main board, worst case, you can actually replace those just like in a laptop. this is the beauty of Android devices. If that little box is blue tooth capable, you can connect a little mini mouse to it also.
Hey, so this video was made a year ago. Are you still happy with it, and any updates on the 5G? This might be cool in my 2019 Rebel for road trips with the kids. You can I can use mirror mode to play movies without wifi, meaning I could just do that and the 5G thing won't be an issue, right?
Eddie, cool video. I ran across it when searching for info on the 12" display. I'm looking at ordering a 2024 Ram 2500 that would have it. It appears that the link to the company in the description is dead now. It times out every time I click it. I was curious to know if this unit allowed would all you to load any app available in the play store. I ask because, personally, I wouldn't be a fan of watching video on the display what I would be a fan of would be displaying the radar from a weather app, like wX. Also looking at other ways to hack the functionality, maybe with an old phone 😁
It's called The Magic Box. they claim you can play it anywhere. what they don't tell you is that this device needs a wifi signal. so if your car is not set up for wifi or you're not near a signal, it will not work
How or where will you get wifi when you're out in your vehicle? Don't have wifi in my Passport and you said it doesn't work on your hotspot from your phone
Would you mind sharing how you got this Magic Box to connect to your Torque device? I do not see an option in the Magic Box to search for bluetooth devices.
@@EddieLife3500 maybe you misunderstood, I’m trying to figure out how to connect the Magic Box to a Bluetooth device like a JB4 or Torque tuning device or Pedal Monster. The Bluetooth options in Settings don’t allow to connect to anything other than phones. You have to search for the magic box from your phone. The magic box doesn’t appear to have a way to search for Bluetooth devices itself. Which is strange because it is android based. Am I missing something?
So you absolutely have to be connected to wifi for RU-vid etc? I don’t mind paying for the wifi in my dodge, but I did the free trial I got and my kid used RU-vid and it sucked the data they gave me in like 3 mins watching some video and that was it lol. So maybe paying for an actual plan will work better..But if modifying the settings on the iPhone like people have mentioned to allow the hotspot to connect that may be a better option. The personal hotspot works really good for me right now
hello Eddie's I hope you doing well I have question for you I have gmc Denali 2021 3500 I like to asking you if is good idea to do banks programing the pedal monster and 2 gem derringer system I watch your video but I like to ask first if. is worth it thank you very much brother
Eddie I need your advice on something really quick, how much air psi do you recommend me running on my 16 rammer Cummins of course I got 24x14s on 40/15.50 mts
You want the recommended number look in your door jamb and go that high if your tires are rated for it, I’ve ran nitto nt420s on 22x12s and they were only rated for 50psi so I ran 50 all around, it rode wayyyyy better at lower pressure
5g requires a chip to be present, so the chip on the Samsung phone is a 2.5/5g chip. May likely be the case that the device only has a 2.5g chip in it.
