Almost at 100k! I found you when you were less that 5k subs and I have truly enjoyed your videos. They have been a game changer for my 5ft 3” frame. Thank you.
Thank you for giving me confidence as a 22 y/o having 5 feet I was hesistant to wear long dresses. You are best motivator for short height girls bless you❤
You have this down to science. I watched several times to understand how it works. I never wear dresses anymore but with this video I am going to try dresses once again. Grate tips.
@@PetiteDressing🌺 Chi: I'm not into dresses at this moment either (more skirts @ this stage), but still enjoyed this treat and hearing more of your savvy analysis. 🦋Plus, you looked lovely in all your maxi dress recommendations! 👏 🤩 You are an extraordinary expert on balance, proportions & how to trick the eye👁️ for women of all heights & sizes. You're doing a super ⭐ service for petites, but your knowledge & influence deserves a much wider audience. 🙏 Hope that your channel skyrockets in popularity one day soon💙! 😘 Love that you're witty, compassionate & responsive to your viewers as well as gifted in presenting your brilliant lessons too. 🤗 Feel so blessed that you came across my path! 💚 Bridget from Cali ☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
I am 5 feet, fairly slim, love love maxi dresses, and am 78 yrs old! I am a little self conscious about showing too much upper arms which are slightly crepey. Thoughts? No long sleeves please. Love your tips, but wish you would consider older petites also. Want to look youthful, not older dowdy.
I also find my upperarms usualy quite unflattering, I have some keratosis pilaris and a bit of extra «chicken filet» skin/fat on the bottom of my upperarm😝🤷♀️ What works for me is for example «butterfly sleeves» in summer. They are wide, above the elbow and nice and breezy. Almost like wearing sleevelss but still covered 🤗 I find tight short sleeves either too hot or they accentuate the extra fat too much 😅 I have 2 maxi dresses with butterfly sleeves and I love wearing them when it is hot! ☀️🥵
Where I live, we are having slow opening up, so that we can go to the movies, enter stores and eat outdoors at a restaurant. I went shopping to look for shoe sales and there wasn’t much of a selection. I looked at regular price shoes and I couldn’t find nude shoes, booties or proper sandals. I still find this to be a challenge. Also, can you do a video on good foot socks to wear with booties without showing the sock and for to sock not to slip off your heel as you are walking? I need some but I don’t want to struggle by buying every brand to only discover none of them work. Great video on maxi dresses! I haven’t looked for this season and I’m saving to build Fall, Winter, Spring wardrobe. I already cultivated very small ankle boot collection but still searching for nude ankle boots. 💋
😉 I'm on the hunt for a pair of nude suede cowboy 🤠 ankle booties as well as a loafer, oxford, and maybe a ballerina flat. 🤣 It's tricky to find shoes that fit my wider feet, let alone that fall in my 💲budget. Buying online is almost impossible〰️and results in far too many returns. 🌺Chi has convinced me about the 🪄 magic in choosing skin colored shoes, but it's also a challenge to find any I like 😖 too. 🍀Good luck! 💚 Bridget from Cali ☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
I have always been crazy about fashion and I realize you are talking about what’s wrong with runway shows. Thanks for validating the practicality of wearing a longer dress. Thanks for the excellent advice about details. But I will never again like that high low hemline just because of Lula Roe.
I'm 38 D, sometimes have to put a stitch in the surplice of the V-neck or hide a safety pin there. A wrap dress with the ruffles helps hide my fat tummy.
💘 In love with wrap dresses. They are so flattering for many different body types, esp. an hourglass⌛ , but it can be tricky finding the right one. 👍Ruffles can conceal tummy issues. Like the 👀peek-a-boo 🦵legs when you walk too. Although I will wear 🚲 bike shorts underneath to feel more secure. 🌬️ Been caught in some windy locations that whipped up my skirt a time or two 😳. 😉 Whole heartedly agree with you about the complications of having a bigger bust. Most wrap necklines end up exposing way too much cleavage for my comfort😖. And, I'm quite picky about having just the right coordinating undershirt, camisole, tank, etc. So, unless I already own something suitable, I'm more likely to pass on some wrap dress or top that's too revealing. 😱 Depending upon how it's cut, it can sometimes look like my breasts are sitting right on the sash (or "waist" too) which is never a good look 😔. 🤔 Skip strapless & spaghetti strap dresses (or tops) altogether. My girls need full support. Like to stick with sleeveless (or cap sleeve) garments when it starts to🌡️heat up 🥵. 💚 Bridget from Cali ☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
45 year old, 4'11", 102lb, short legs but high rise, I've avoided all midi and maxi dresses and skirts my whole life, thank you Chi, this year I made/ bought so many maxi dresses and coats, they look so beautiful on me.
I agree so much with this advice. I’m rectangular petite and find an A-line wrap dress in combination best. Second I wear a tight dress. The latter used to be my first option but I have switched around with age. I cannot wear a sack dress but a straight/tunic style dress works if it is soft and short.
Gracias querida has sido una inspiración para mi, pues soy petite y me he atrevido a usar cierta ropa que no usaba, viendo tus videos y ver como luces de bien. Gracias ❤
Too big or "flowy" or voluminous, shapeless maxi dresses won't work for short ladies such as myself (5'1"). It MUST have some shape, meaning hugging to the body, or you'll just look heavier. Even with heels, something too blousy and oversized will just make me look like a Weeble! (For those too young to know, Weebles were little toys that were round with faces on them that you could push around but they'd always end up right side up.) Basically short, pudgy little "people". Anything ruffled, voluminous, or oversized is NOT my friend as a short lady. Oh and V-necks add weight too, in my opinion. Unless you have a wide statement necklace that fills up the space leading the eyes to think you're wearing a crewneck. I find the most flattering neckline for a dress on me is boatneck. If you can find a dress with this style neck, try it on to see for yourself. It is a very classy style that balances a short women's proportions.
Thank you for this ! I was thrilled to buy your last pink tropical , floral dress for My trip to Hawaii ❤️ can you tell me where to find the pretty nude , strappy block heels you’re wearing in the video ? Thank you !
I'm so glad I found you! Your videos have been very helpful to my petite shape. Would you also please include some of the nude shoes in your upcoming videos? They are super cute!
Love your videos, I also love all the dresses you are wearring... I would like to know if some of the dresses that are sold out are coming back? Thank you.
Do you have any suggestions for a mature woman who doesn’t feel comfortable in sleeveless dresses any longer. How can I they still look good in warmer climates?
@@PetiteDressing I wish there were more warm weather dresses made with 3/4 sleeves. I’m not a fan of adding a 3/4 sleeve shrug to a sleeveless dress because they add a different look to a dress, too intentional and takes away from the design of the dress. Maybe you could do a video on how best to add a cover up for sleeveless dresses?
She had a choice to make between A maxi dress and maxi coat to wear Chi thought about it and then chose The long maxi coat to wear that day She was going coat only that nice day And not wear anything beneath it all This she did and was very happy she did
I have big boobs and not by choice but I want to hide them and I love midi dresses but I don’t like sleeveless because skinny straps make my chest look even bigger. Also high heels are not helpful if ur not having to dress up please any other ideas? thanks
I'm apple, short torso, and 71....so I love midi, umpire waist and sneakers. You taught me to shorten my jackets, and that makes the dress look cute. I've started rolling up my jeans and wearing slim fit under loose tops, so now I don't look like cousin It....thanks for all your help. I may be old but I want to look the best I can......not dead yet:)
I am 5'0" on my best day and 105 lbs. I have a mini hourglass shape so not a lot of issues other than my height to dress around. I live in a hot tropical climate so caftans are my staple uniform, however I also love wrap dresses and have a full collection of DVF dresses, however, the neckline is usually too low, and not knowing how to sew I haven't found a great solution. Any ideas?
Excellent information, thank you. I tried a few maxi dresses this summer but found they overwhelmed my 5 foot 1 inch body. They had alot of flaryed material, so I my mum made them into knee length dresses. So if they are straight down I think they may look better. Thank you Chi.
Love maxi dresses. I wore them as a teen in the 70's, had a closet full of beautiful maxi dresses my mom made for me. I didn't wear very many when I had kids, not practical. Now that the kids are gone, maxi dresses are back in my closet. I never knew maxi dresses were a problem for petites, except for actually finding one that isn't as long as I am tall and having to cut a foot off the bottom...
This was so helpful!! I never thought about wearing a maxi dress because I thought it was for tall people only! Thank you for your tips and explanation.
As a busty woman I have to dress the top of my body and then cut the bottom off of the dress and hem it. If there's too much fancy bordering at the bottom of the dress, I do not buy it.
Beauty is a gift of nature, style is a construction of the mind Buy art books, go to museums, that will educate your eye about proportions Then you will not need fashion bloggers telling you "rules" No ré inventing the wheel.
Hello , You have helped me so much . Now I know how to buy pretty dresses for my short size :) I Shrunk , and right kind of shoes & accessories. Thank you so much for defining in detail without all irritating ruckus . Such a well done video in many examples and detailing . I subscribe
Imagine being 5’2 and plus sized. It’s like retailers don’t know plus size people are short/petite too. I can never wear maxi dresses if I don’t get them tailored. Will try to use these tips
I figured out a while back that adding side slits to my maxi dresses really helped me look like I wasnt "standing in a hole". Lol Thanks for the video. Good tips My rule with heels is the shorter the dress the flatter the heel.
Thank you for all the information! I am 5' 2" as well, I have been trying to stay away from anything that is too long. Thank you, I really enjoy your video!
Thank you! 5'2" 🍐 shaped here. This was very helpful. I always felt like I look like a kindergarten teacher in maxi dresses. I'm going to look for some of the options you suggested
What's wrong with wide hips🤔 women like Beyoncé, Salma Hayke and Marilyn Monroe have/had wide hips(curvy) but they accentuate/d their hips instead of trying to hide that they have hips, and they look/ed breathtaking
I need your advice I am 5 ft 5 inches but I am long torso and my legs length is 27inches. I'm also apple shaped, I go to the petite and fits me perfectly length wise but I want your advice on something that makes me look leaner and longer legs
I just got myself a long cotton dress, for summer in 4 colours, because even though the dress is long, i have a big bust and a big butt. So it hikes a little up and isnt so long anymore. 😅
Love maxi dresses. What do you wear under a white linen see through dresses… Full slips are hard to find and I don’t like the look of the bike shorts or shape wear shorts under them.
